Called that way back when they were revealed and everyone was no, no it's a she...and I was like that's the ugliest woman ever. I'm totally getting a "Crying Game" vibe from Taash...not touching that. Boy what a melt down that would cause. I doubt there's going to be any penis in game, it's all barbie down there. I dunno...they do have horns.

I'm totally getting a "Crying Game" vibe from Taash...not touching that. Boy what a melt down that would cause. It’s taken me completely by surprise. I can only hope they dress it up to conform to the universe they are in. Kind of like Krem. Then again they didn’t dress up ‘top surgery scars’, so it can go either way. lol.

Krem was done intelligently...and not forced on players. Between Weekes and Busche I'm betting on all messaging, all day in the narrative. I suspect that's why you don't have the choice on recruitment like you did for most of the companions in DAI. The whole trans scars thing is so stupid in a fantasy setting...mages can shape change into spiders and dragons and potions can take you from near-death to full fighting strength instantly, but you have to go to the local witch doctor to cut up and rearrange your bits? Just dumb. And that's pure messaging.

Then again they didn’t dress up ‘top surgery scars’, so it can go either way. lol. Medical science sure must've progressed a lot in the past 8 years between games, especially since everything we've seen about Thedosian medical science is barely early middle ages at best. Which, circa Inquisition at least, makes sense: why invest in the pursuit of medical sciences when mages can just heal many different types of injuries? You'd think with every major northern Thedosian nation being influenced by mages as part of their cultures (barring maybe the Qunari) - they'd all be in comparably dire straights when it comes to medical advances. But apparently not - apparently top surgeries are just insanely commonplace by the time Veilguard picks up. It's comforting to know that the devs are treating this setting with forethought and care, and not just haphazardly shoving in current year terms or attributes into the setting, without thought for how that affects setting itself. I have such confidence in the creatives behind this game, it's insane.

Speaking on the medical and magical inconsistencies, I was watching a playthrough and couldn't help but notice along with the youtuber, that if Neve or Harding are 'injured' from the choice you make at the beginning, they don't use a potion or their healing magic. And it's not like Varric stabbed through the chest injured, it's got in a bar fight bruises and bumps and it's treated as if they're on death's door...But they don't use their healing capabilities. I'm not sure they even bring it up in conversation. Seems like a massive plot hole. Like the writers tried to manufacture some drama to make me care about people I just met...
It worked with Varric for obvious reasons. They should have waited until mid act 2 or even act 3 to implement these 'developments'.

Hadn't even registered with me but yeah those lingering bruises are really going to mess with my immersion now...yeah, why not just heal? Forced drama for sure.

I respectfully disagree. In DAO you have Sten being taken aback that anyone would want to be something they are not. Why would a farmer want to be a warrior? Then Bull comes along and all of a sudden the Qun is accomodating of transsexualism. It seems like a weird break in world building to me. I wasn't thinking in terms of the Qun...but more of just a woman wanting to identify as a man...fight like one...live like one. Krem wasn't hitting you on the head with it...kept his mouth shut, worked hard to be a good warrior, and earned the respect of his peers. Yeah, the whole Qun thing has been all over the place from game to game. I suppose this time around they'll be completely accepting of alternative lifestyles...the polar opposite from where they started...and having conveniently forgotten Qamek and its purpose.

Nah, you can pick your "bulge" size, it's quite puny and sad btw, but you see nothing. Women can't even pick the state of el bush or lack there of. There will be boobies. And perhaps asses. Like DAI.

100.00% (17.00) Sort of Spoiler for companion The lyrium blade, the "singing" blade is Solas ritual dagger (it might be the idol from DA2 btw )
It's already used gameplay wise for rune and trigger companion special power. And we might need it to shank those annoying elven gods.
Awakening of ancient magic is probably Harding getting dwarf magic power. Like Valta in Descent. She said she touched the dagger and felt something.

Betting on having to use it for the elven gods. I'm wondering what they're going to do with Harding. She isn't really as invested as the others are into Solas or the Elven gods. Maybe it'll become relevant to Dwarves in general. A new paragon perhaps?

It seems Harding start to deep dive in dwarf lore to figure out what's going on with her. We know for sure the ancients elves messed and killed Titans (ancient dwarven godlike figures)
It could be great, it could explain the Blight etc.. Or we're mainly going to see this through Harding. I like Harding but I want Kal Sharok. Some Titans might be awakening and yes it would be quite relevant to dwarves. Titans have a hive mind thing going on with dwarves, who can gain magical powers though those. Hard to tell if it would be good or bad for the dwarven people.

Man the hype out there among gamers is nonexistent...crickets. In more than 15 years of following Bioware I cannot remember a game where there wasn't a ton of buzz with less than 2 weeks to release. If that's an indicator...and I have to believe it is...this game is going to crash and burn hard.

Right now it's 48th on Steam's Global Top Sellers. I could've sworn it was around 39 or 41 just the other day. How did that happen?

Of course others are saying that Bioware is very confident in their product and that's why they're moving the way that they are. Weren't they also confident in Anthem? Whatever the case they need to ramp up the marketing something fierce. Show off Elgar'nan, give us more Ghilan'nain. Something that makes the title pop, because what they're doing aint doing it.

There actually was quite a bit of hype surrounding Anthem leading up to release...just not necessarily from the fandom as it wasn't ME or DA. DAV there's like nothing...it's kind of bizarre. I agree they need something really cool to generate some buzz. Of course the whole marketing approach to DAV has been awful. I went from 90% hype to 90% skeptic since the beginning. I can admit I may no longer be part of the target group...but I'm not hearing anything from the mythical modern audience that this game is going to come storming out of the gates.

I think the game will sell fine. Not great but not a total dud with a loss worth millions. I think the franchise name is still going to drive some numbers. But those number were never really high, right? Even Mass Effect never sold that well. 4-5 million or something, was it? Compare that to Skyrim selling over 20mil. Or those COD or FIFA numbers, BioWare was always a small fish in terms of profit, so I don't think EA expects crazy numbers.

If the statements made in the investors' call are true (while vague, I don't think they can or would lie to investors), the preorders seemingly match their expectations, which would mean they didn't set too high expectations on the game.

Where are you looking for it? Last thing I saw was that the game is no #4 and #5 on PS5 (the deluxe edition or whatever it is called outselling the regular one even). That seems a pretty good spot to me. The subreddit is pretty active and hyped. They do delete negative posts there though. So there's no telling how many unhappy fans are being silenced.

Keep in mind the development costs 15 years ago were quite a bit less than what they are these days with games basically costing the same. I'd like to know what ME2's dev size was compared to nowadays. I'd be surprised if this game manages 3 million in the first month...I mean if SW Outlaws can only manage a million in a month...a frickin' Star Wars game...what hope does DAV have of setting the world on fire?

DAV there's like nothing...it's kind of bizarre. I agree they need something really cool to generate some buzz. Of course the whole marketing approach to DAV has been awful. I went from 90% hype to 90% skeptic since the beginning. I can admit I may no longer be part of the target group...but I'm not hearing anything from the mythical modern audience that this game is going to come storming out of the gates. Maybe console is where it'll kill it. Sure seems pretty weak on Steam. Mostly I just look at Youtube content...I remember how much it was before DAI...maybe everyone's in the wait and see mode.
