Dragon Age The Joyguard (formerly Hype Train) [Spoilers]

The game play looks great. The characters look interesting. Thrilled to have Harding as a companion. But mostly jumping for joy that the game will be available THIS YEAR!!!!😂

You are probably right.
For me, I just want a good DA game that is fun to play. But there are many BioWare fans with very strong opinions about what they want to see in this game. I have no doubt fan response will be like previous games - some will love it, some will hate it. I just hope we don’t see the level of toxicity that has occurred in the past with BioWare games, and we can talk in good faith about what we love and hate.

Okay, I'm hyping.

* Love the faces they look great. Their eyes look good. They look like eyes and not eyeballs put into rubber holders?

* There were times, at least in this one area we saw, when it really reminded me of Origins. The colors? The lighting?

* Personally, I like the combat style. It will get meatier as we progress. I'm guessing they'll be presenting more stuff about those things in time. I'm looking forward to seeing the other classes, too.

* Voice acting is awesome! Is that male Eivor from AC Valhalla I hear? Or from that Last Kingdom show? Sure does sound like him. Can't wait to hear the voice actors.

* Loved Minrathous!! The architecture; the vibe - reminds me of the way Gaider once described it as a drunken hoar sitting by the side the of the road yelling, "I was once beautiful!" Or "Great!" One of those, but still. Obviously, so much better than Val Royeaux.

* Tevinter is really heavy handed aren't they? I mean, I knew, but that whole spotlight thing.

* I hope they release the CC early because I've got two characters to create. A few previous game decisions. And then for Rook we need to pick faction, or backstory, something about lineage? Amongst other things. I would like to be able to do that ahead of time so I can just jump in.It would help pass the time until the game launched. heh.

I can't help but wonder how many people really know about Solas and his plans? Like nation states. I'm trying to remember the end of Trespasser and how that knowledge stood. Some high ranking people knew...right? They knew about the Qunari. I don't remember if it was well known what was going on with Solas. And then, even if it was, after 10 years, or so, maybe people gave up on it.

So that happened. We let a couple of old gods out. Are they both corrupted? The tentacle lady has been around a long time. I remember her statue in the secret archive room in the DA:O mage. And in one of the first trailers for DA:I, she was the one in the Fade reaching out to the Inquisitor. They changed it in game to the Divine, but yeah, it was her at first.

Are there any uncorrupted old gods running around? I know Kieran and Old God Baby are not canon, but Oh, would that be helpful. It was Uriel, I believe. It would have been cleansed of the corruption....which makes me have questions...and probably would have been sympathetic to our side because it does have the advantage of having basically been raised a human, as child. It has those experiences. And probably babysits the hell Kieran even they're not bound in the same soul anymore, they're pretty much twins.

I digress. Where was I? I loved the gameplay trailer. I'm a little sad there are no actual origin stories to playthrough. Not even a little 10 minutes? But okay, that's okay.

* Oh, I really like the tighter focus. And can't wait to see our lair The Lighthouse.

Looked good overall. I'm shocked at how much the combat is basically a DnD 4th edition game style that combines Mass Effect speed with Souls-like tactics/parry.

Do want to see more, but so far, definitely going to play it.

I'm afraid to say it because I don't want to tempt fate, but ... dare I say it ... we might actually be so fucking back.

At least at first blush, there's nothing as obviously bad as Andromeda's early access was. The tone feels appropriate, and the environment is gorgeous. It really feels like they're making the Dragon Age version of Mass Effect 1, right down to the power wheel and the structure of the game. And since ME1 is basically peak Golden Age Bioware design, I'll gladly take that.

I understand mourning the now basically complete loss of DAO's CRPG heritage, but the renaissance has taken the sting out of that, and as long as Bioware commits to the aRPG format and makes it good, I'm fine with it. Better to whole-ass action combat than the half-assed compromise between top-down RTWP and third-person hack-and-slash that has defined the series.

I am hopeful and excited.

Hopeful that it is going to be as good as first impressions from the gameplay trailer were and excited that it is going to come out this year.

Do we have an idea of the month at least of just N.A. Fall?

I'm overjoyed to know that we'll continue to be able to choose from all races.

I'm not certain what is gonna be the justification for some of them, but that is the devs' problem. Not mine
