Almost 4 years of hype (at least of thread creation) now comes down to a couple of weeks... this made me feel old.

Been listening to more songs that have given me Veilguard themes and ideas which been doing for awhile now.

New computer is here. I'm Veilguard ready and the ventilation works so well i'm freezing.
Also no more Dragon Age 2, I bought the game on disc forgot to register it on EA app for some reasons, threw the box away when i moved.
I'll have to buy it again when it's on sales.

Yeah one of my favourite Bioware games (ME2) had a big focus on companions like Veilguard seems to. Yeah it was the mid point of a trilogy and had a lot of story/lore/moving parts from ME1, but the big thing I remember from it is the companions. They can literally die in the final battle if you don't focus on their needs in companion quests (or in my case, going through a whole load of paragon choices I may not have always made, just to get Miranda back onside after siding with Jack lol).

I'm a long time Bioware fan. Baldur's Gate was my first and enjoyed it but KOTOR was when I became a big time fan.

Even though I don't look back at MEA all that fondly (I liked it after the trudgery of the first bunch of hours), and never played the full game of Anthem (just some preview... or Beta? via EA Play), I still have hope for Dragon Age.

Anyway, I feel excited for it coming. I didn't think I would after MEA's release or Anthem. I've had good feelings about it even if things are missing - 4 person party, controlling companions, and choice importing (and I think even crafting and alchemy isn't really about anymore?), but it still looks great to me.

Back to the start of my post and ME2 - I certainly don't think it'll ever match ME2 haha, but a big draw for me in Bioware games from KOTOR onwards is the companions. Even the blander companions of MEA were companions I still liked hanging around with in the end. So between these new companions (helps that I like the few I've read/seen in books/comics/Harding from DAI) and hopefully a big epic story, I suspect I'll at least enjoy Veilguard, even if I don't end up head over heels for it.
