Still their best trailer. Leaves me so hyped, such a mood, much grinning. On the one hand, people feigning outrage over things they already want to hate doesn't surprise me one bit these days, but on the other, god I still don't get why people reacted so badly to that trailer. It's gorgeous, I love the vibe it goes for, it (successfully!) got the entire roster of companions immediately into the fandom conciousness, and it's fun. Yeah yeah "but muh durk fantasy", don't care didn't ask, the trailer slaps. It felt like I was watching an MOBA commercial so I definitely did not and still do not like it. People of course will point to the older Dragon Age trailers but those don't feel so lighthearted imo. The latter ones are way better for me.

When a company first becomes successful its because the Creatives brought it there. But the Sales people get the promotions because of the sales and the next thing you know, they are in charge and the Creatives aren't even at the decision table anymore.
Bioware is a victim of its own success and I shall wait to see what comes to pass but i am starting to fear for Bioware and if this game is not a success that the studio may close ala Westwood as EA does not brook failure and Bioware already is on its third strike.

I've had my fill of brown or light gray or dark character screens so I don't know what the big deal is. If purple was good enough for one of the coolest dudes who ever walked this planet, it's good enough for me, too.

I don't know. A lot of those Bioware creatives decided to make a GAAS looter shooter and not dissect where Destiny succeeded and failed but instead forbid people from even bringing it up. Those same creatives thought announcing a space opera trilogy but not planning out the basic three game story arc was a good idea thus we got a fantastic second game that did fuckall to move the overarching plot forward while they also blew their entire wad on the coolest idea for an end game mission in the middle of the trilogy. Those same creatives are the ones who created "Bioware magic" which led to people having breakdowns in the office, working crazy crunch hours and/or leaving the gaming industry all together because they were burned the fuck out. And they routinely shit on the writers who they "treated like lepers."
I do share the sentiment that I hope the game is successful because studios like Bioware closing down is a loss for gaming as a whole. People losing their jobs is never good, especially these days. I'll never understand the twisted minds of all these internet goblins that root for games to fail. It's so bizarre and sociopathic in a way.

All the pots will get trashed, that habits have been trained well in a few other games. But BioWare is destroying decades of a well learned habit with selling trash.  And yeah, the combat looks amazing to me.

So 100GB won't take that long anyway.

I'm starting my PTO now (just came back from work). Tomorrow will be agonazing, but I'll have a full week off to play, play, play next week. Also, Thursday will probably also be agonazing, depending how fast it download...or not. I might have to wait for the evening to play the game.  |

I didn't know who BoomStickGaming was before I saw his first combat breakdown but the dude can really do a breakdown in a clear and concise manner. He has some fantastic tips in the video you posted. That's the kind of Youtube videos I want to see and watching both combat videos made me give a hard side-eye to all the reviews that said the combat is boring and tedious. It looks dynamic as hell, fast paced and tons of options to tweak your build. I had to sub to him.

I am having a horrible week. I've given up going dark and indulged in some bits. I am forgiving some things I am not pleased about because I need this now. I am about to turn down a job offer tomorrow that is going to cause huge drama. I'm a people pleaser who is about be a people displeaser. I don't even like doing that in videogames. Don't want it. Just want Dragon Age. They picked the wrong week to bother me. It's a sacred week. Do they not know it's a sacred week!? Don't care if the companions are all too nice. Let's all have a nice time being nice and friendly. All just the bestest of friends. Nice.  I really hope I see an email tomorrow that my physical copy has been dispatched so I can breathe at my door on Thursday. I need to go get snacks tomorrow. Maybe after I send that email and go dark. Snacks, a candle, maybe a new throw for my sofa. Full sofa rotting collection. |

I have been thoroughly impressed by BoomStickGaming's coverage of Veilguard, who wasn't even on my radar before. His ability to make the combat look so dynamic and fun makes me wonder if some YouTubers just didn't put a lot of effort into it (even subconsciously) because they didn't like Veilguard for other reasons. I can see that leading them to dub the combat boring/tedious/bad/etc. I totally get not wanting to invest in learning something that you're not really interested in, but BoomStick really makes the combat shine and was the first person who made me really interested in mage and warrior for Veilguard (the first gameplay reveal sold me on rogue already).
I've literally never been so excited to try out the comabt in a Bioware game before Veilguard. I've enjoyed some combat previously, and my opinion about some systems has definitely changed over time as my preferences as a gamer have shifted (used to love DAO combat, now I tolerate it at best, for example). Veilguard just looks fun, especially in the hands of someone who clearly has taken the time to figure it out.

The paycheck has arrived and the game has finally been ordered  ! I had taken a Dragon Age break, let's say because after the Content Creator Preview Event, I was a little in need and ready to search the entire internet for the slightest crumbs of information   . I wasn't going to survive until the release otherwise  . On the other hand, we've been waiting for this game for 10 years ! I haven't finished the podcast yet so this will be perfect to pass the time during these last hours. In any case, I'm happy to see that the game has good reviews. I knew I was going to buy it without it, it's just reassuring for the future and the studio.
