This is a game I've always been conflicted about.
I love the story and characters, but the combat. I mean, I always made it known that I think the older BioWare games have pretty clunky combat mechanics but KotoR is the clunkiest of the clunky for me.
I can usually put up with it for a little bit by just turning it to the lowest difficulty and spamming power attack to win everything, but that eventually gets too boring to me as well.

I loved the combination of that attack with 3 swords icon, plus the one with (X) icon, and use some force lightning, push and other force powers. Change characters to a shooter or a robot companion if you're bored.

Kotor was my first BioWare game and probably the one I've played the most. The story and characters were so well done and I loved the ability to be light side or dark side (with actual consequences!).
I also went back and played on iPad a couple years ago and was surprised how much I still enjoyed it.
Too bad they decided to do SWTOR instead of Kotor 3. I tried that for a while but I'm not really an MMO person.

I can play it on iPad?! Damn. I've been lamenting my inability to play KotOR for months, since I didn't keep my XBox from ages ago. You give me hope. How does it play on iPad? Reasonably well? And, yes, in line with the thread's title, KotOR is so damn good. I believe it is my favorite BioWare game. It's BioWare and it's Star Wars. It has those amazing characters, and that great story. The locales are all enjoyable. Damn, I love this game. |

Kotor is my favorite game ever!!! I love almost everything about it. The combat may be clunky and slow, as some of you have said, but Bioware has definitely improved over the years. I've found though, that by the time the Star Forge comes around, I don't have much of a problem because the pc + Jolee and Juhani (but the pc especially) are very overpowered. Even once you're on your own, if you pace yourself it's really not that bad! Maybe I'm just patient? (Or not playing on a hard setting)
Oh but my hat's off to those people over at Apeiron (or Atlanta, wherever they're located!) I hope their hard work pays off. Kotor deserves the reboot!

KOTOR is fine, but KOTOR 2 is the best. It had it's problems (weird ending and more stuff like that) but it also had one of the greatest characters of all time: Kreia. Best moments in KOTOR 1 was going to the Sith Academy... sucks that you have to kill everyone there at the end, though. I liked Bastila's and Revan's connection and Exile's force bond with Kreia.

Something else just occurred to me. If I were playing the iPad version of KotOR, I could use Apple TV to turn my TV into a bigger monitor than I've ever before had for this game. Pretty tempting.

Kotor was the first Bioware game I played. While I loved the story, characters and protagonist (revan is still one of my all time favourits) I wasn't a big fan of the gameplay in general which is why I only play the game on easy.

^ I really enjoyed the addition of so many more armors, as well as upgrades (and upgrade slots) in KotOR 2. Seeing your screenshots brings back memories of the stories, characters, choices, and all the gear, too. Thanks for sharing.
