I bought it a month ago, super cheap. It's ok if you want some brainless pewpew in a pretty world that isn't Destiny. I usually coop with one buddy who won't play Destiny. And I might hop in and do a little bit while waiting for updates to install in something else. If they reboot and honour the purchase of those who already have the game then, it's possibly a bargain.
Compared to the demo it's a lot better for loading times, and starting a mission is a lot easier.
It's like an entree, nice to look at but not very substantial. Which is fine for what I play it for.

It certainly needs that overhaul, especially the inscription and loot system. And more content. But I'm not regretting buying it like I did with that piece of shit Andromeda. I'm at around 2000h playtime. Still loving the gameplay...

Gameplay is fine, even the loot loop is OK. It gets so tiring looking at the same locations, and fighting enemies so similar that they're basically just palette swaps, though. That's ultimately what killed it for me, lack of diversity in enemies and locations. A good start, but that's all it is, needed another 2-3 years development.

not quite, they scrapped and restarted a lot during these 8 years and the thing we got in the end was "only" in development for less than 2 years - and for that it wasn't too bad  though that doesn't really make it any betty, I'll give you that 
to OP:
I still enjoy the gameplay, just recently fired it up ... if you just want to be a truly cool looking Iron Man, enjoy the scenery and go pew pew (though I mainly use my powers and not weapons) so rather go mayhem-nuts ... it is actually quite fun
pity though that there is no news whatsoever about 2.0 ... they should just stop (if they heven't already)... it can only disappoint, in German we would say "der Zug ist abgefahren" (the ship as sailed)
