I only have a 2080 Super which draws 250 watts. And my current CPU, the 6850K draws 150 watts and I am only using at the very most 600 watts at full load under stress according to APC's Power Chute Personal Edition Power Management Program. Plus my UPS battery back-up provides an additional 1500 Watts of back-up battery power, and my Power Chute Personal Edition calculates that the battery provides on average 75 when idle to 300 watts of power underload. My current system has been very stable in terms of power draw.
The new CPU uses 25 less watts....and if my current system can handle all that....I think my new system will be far more efficient. I think 850 is more than enough, at least according to EVGAs POWER METER. They say I only need at MOST a 700 Watt PSU for a total draw of 590 watts. I have an 850 and I'll be using less wattage.

Those calculators are talking TDP and Wattage.
I am not talking about those.
I am talking about the Power DRAW and PSU efficiency of endurance over time.
If you remove the power limit the CPU and GPU will be able to pull even more power.
So since you say what you say I will assume you will not be overclocking anything? If that is the case 850W would be bare minimum but I will still caution you the PSU may not last many years. So you may want to at least get a backup PSU.
Windows 11 is basically Windows 10 update 21H2. So your system should be fine updating to it -if you want that monstrosity of Windows 11.
Plus Windows 11 will in my opinion be a beta for a few years after release. Its the updating to Alder-lake that would be an issue if any for you. If you make a system that is Alder-lake then you WILL NEED Windows 11.
This explains why the push is happening besides DDR5, PCIE 5.0 and USB 4.0:
I linked it to the needed part.

Besides, I like Windows 10. I liked Windows 7.....I remember Windows XP....I got to the point in my PC building that I learned XP inside out. It was a good system, but it wad riddled with bugs. HOwever, it was the bugs that enabled me to learn it so well. I learned Windows 7 well enough, but I've not learned Windows 10 as well I would have liked-- not like I did with XP. But taking a ride in the Way Back Machine....I remember DOS 6.22. I used to love working in DOS and there were so many thinsg I could do in the DOS environment. I even remember Window 3.1. My family's first PC was a 486 DX II-66. A 66 Megahertz CPU, a 2 MB ATI Radeon and 2 MB SD RAM and a 50 MB Mechanical HDD and a 5.25 inch Floppy Drive. We bought it in the late summer of 1992 for what was then 3,000 CAD (which was HUGELY expensive back then.....It is equivalent to 5100 now)...But it's crazy to think just how far the tech has come and what the cost is today. It would show a Mhz of 66 then show 200 then 33 then 0 then 66 NEVER constant. Checked it thoroughly -looked fine. In another motherboard did the same... This or one on the similar build line was my first goofy Intel CPU.

After the DX II 66 we had the DX II 133....and years later we had the first Gen Pentium chips. I think even ME 1 on PC was designed to run on a P4...And by that time I was running the QX9650 QuadCore 2 Extreme which was one BEAST of a CPU for the time. In its day that was a truly amazing CPU.... In my experience and recent memory, only my current 6850K comes close to the 9650Extreme in terms of power, capability, speed and toughness.
I could throw anything at the QXExtreme and it would eat it like cereal. And paired witht that CPU I had an ASUS branded GTX 570 that eventually crapped out so I upgraded to the 690 and that crapped out in less time.....So then I said nuts to ASUS branded cards and switced to EVGA when I bought my 760 and since then haven't looked back.

Yeah I had a lot of computer growing up. Most were Intel handmedowns from trailer park neighbors who knew I tweaked with computers. I would then modify and tweak them... I guess that is what broke all the Intel chips I listed in the past.
Some Intel chips would survive for a few months but none lasted a year.
I remember a certain event.... I call it... The Chaos Event:
There was a game that came out: Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (2003)...
The system I was using at that time was some Intel Pentium 3 monstrosity -supposedly it was compatible. Though when I tried to play it -I got the message saying the CPU was too slow. So I forced the CPU to run at the recommended 1.2 Ghz -the game launched played for 20 mins and... The system completely crapped. I smelled the electric smoke and the CPU and motherboard were fried. Shortly after this I was entered into the Big Brother Program -a mentoring program in the US.
When Mr.X found out I was a computer tweaker like himself and I said I should give computers up. Mr. X asked why and I told him how no computer would last me a long time. He said he understood and he gifted me a computer that very day. He called the computer: Big Red. I had no idea why at the time.
It was just a full size beige tower.
Well here is the answer: Everything inside the tower was red -even the motherboard -yep it was a Biostar motherboard. That should tell you it was:
An AMD system. Specifically an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ system. It had a September 2003 release date.
Anyway...
I tweaked it the same as the others and this CPU ran the Chaos game... A game I found to be highly under appealing and have already forgotten about. It also ran other games that it wasn't designed for: Tron 2.0 2003
Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy 2004
Star Wars: Battlefront 2004
Star Wars: Republic Commando 2005
I digress though... ...since the major difference between this and the other computers is it held its own for over TWO years where the others died in less than one.
Maybe it has to due with my tweaks or the 24/7 operation and stability -I don't know.
Another CPU that I have that is still kicking is an AMD Athlon II X2 270 Regor -THAT CPU is a MONSTER! It handles both ME1 AND ME2! And if I do my tweaks and overclock it probably could even handle ME3 on the lowest settings. That is my AMD introduction story hope it not to offensive

As to GPU's I have had many... Several ATI Raedon cards I no longer remember their names.
And since 2003 I have mainly been with Geforce: Geforce4 MX4000 Geforce 6600 GT Geforce 7600 GT Geforce 8600 GTS Geforce 9800 GT Geforce 250 GTS
Geforce 650 TI Geforce 760 TI -Only card to die from constant 81*C load over 1 hour.
Geforce 970
Raedon RX 550
Geforce 1050Ti
Raedon Vega 56 -BIOS BOOSTED to Vega 64 -had no problems. On layaway for either 20, 30 or 40 series when prices plummet below MSRP.

ATI from the early 90s when we bought our first family PC, the 486 DX II 66, till 2005 they were a wholly owned, operated and through and through Canadian company. So we wwanted to support a Canadian company. For the time...the performance of the ATI cards was really good, and they were less expensive than Nvidia....But every ATI card we owned always had Driver and firmware problems that plagued them.
The ATI Cards I had that I can remember were the first 2 MB Radeon Card, then the 4 MB Rage Pro II (those were the earliest)....then I last one I can remeber were the 1950 Pro XT (amazing card for the time....But the Drivers and Catalyst COntrol Centre always SUCKED), and then they really went down hill after that. I had the 2600 series from nearly every third party company that ATI partnered with (XFX, Diamond, Saphire, Club, ASUS and the last one I had was VisonTek) and they all sucked goat's balls. NONE of them lasted six months before crapping out. That was when I decided to make the switch to Nvidia cards and spend the extra money on good quality. My first Nvidia based card was from BFG Technologies, it was the 285 OC. What an incredible card for the time! I was so sad when it finally gave up the ghost. Then I had then 470...and it was a good card but it ran really hot, I mean, reallly hot. And it was an ASUS branded card. I also owned the Voodoo 3 3000, which was a really great card; one of the best, at the time, for Open GL. I also owned the Matrox 400, and some other card from a small company called RAINBOW. The ASUS branded Nvidia cards we owned were the 4,5,6 series......And they were all amazing cards, they just ran really really hot and burnt out after two years.
So....Come the 7 series, in 2013-- that is when I'd decided to buy "top shelf" and go for EVGA. I had heard of EVGA ever since I was in highschool and they had wlays ebeen Nvidia's top partner. Always made top quality, amazingly performing cards...trouble was they were super ritzy.
I haven't looked at any other brand since. I had the 760 Dual FTW, a pair of 980 FTW 2s (which I told for 750/pr to help pay for my 1080 FTW 2 w/ ICX2 that i bought in 2017 directly from EVGA in March, just before ANDROMEDA came out because it wasn't available here at the time. After conversion, duty, shipping and taxes, I paid about 11 or 12 hundred CAD for it, when the previous 980s only cost me 800 each bought about eight months apart)....And now I have the 2080 Super FTW 3 Ultra Gaming.

While taking apart my H500M case to clean it and remove my current motherboard......to my shock, dismay, confusion and anger....I found a long scratch on the very back of the top glass panel. Not on the glass part itself, thankfully....just on the angular black trim. And it's at the back so I will never see it unless I am plugging stuff in/out.....But still, it was a very expensive case....and I like to keep my things looking new. I already have a tiny, tiny scatch in the very bottom corner of the glass panel that faces me-- and that is enough of a piss-off....I didn't want anymore scratches on my case! It was a very expensive case and I'd like to keep it looking NEW and scratch-free. (I guess I shouldn't buy tempered glass then, eh....) But FLERKIN! I hate scratching stuff! I hate breaking stuff! I take care of my stuff and because I spend a lot of money on good, high-quality stuff, I don't like to see it get damaged in any way.

Sooo.....Get this: So there I am putting together my new build with my dad as was the plan all along...right on schedule, when we discover that my current PSU only has one braided 8-pin CPU Power Connector (and my X-99 Phoenix SLI only had one CPU connect because that's all it needed), so over the years I guess we ditched the other cables we never thought we would use or need...... BUT NOW my new motherboard the Z490 Aorus Master and the 10900KF have/need 2 8 in CPU Power Connectors! FLERKIN EH! SO....As it turns out I had to spend more money that I wasn't counting on to replace the power supply, basically because we ditched one spare cable! And yet my current 850 had the inputs for it-- I just didn't have the cable! I couldn't believe it..... HOwever, the silver lining is that this did give me the opportunity to upgrade to the 1000 Watt P2 80+ Platiunum PSU....so that will more than ensure I have extra head room for the more powerful 10900K (even though the 10900K draws 25 less watts than my current 6850K) NOt sure why they need 2 8 pin power cables....But in any case, the damage to my wallet is is done. I got it from Canada COmputers for 399.99 - 31.00 for a Shipping Discount. so it came to roughly 369.00 plus taxes. Total was just over 425 give or take a few dollars and cents. Was not expecting that at all....But...glad to have made the switch. But when we were installing the CPU pump....I think we may have scraped the heat sink and/or I/O Shield and two of the VRMs when he was putting the CPU pump on...because I noticed a few very minor scratches. A 600 dollar board and it's scratched! FLLLLEEEEEERRRRRRKKKKKIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!! I'm so PO'd right now! a 600 dollar board and it's scratched!!!!! EDIT: So what looked to be scratches on two of the VRM Chokes and Heat Sinks was just some smudgey gunk from dust or something....I managed to rub them clean with a bit of rubbing alcohol on a mico-fiber cloth. Good as new.

Technically you don't need to use both 8-pin EPS 12v connectors. A single 8-pin EPS 12v connector is rated for a maximum 336 watts and 235 continuous watts. That is more than enough to safely provide enough power for the 10900K. The second 12v connector is mostly for extreme overclocking such as using liquid nitrogen. So it will boot and run perfectly fine with just a single 8-pin EPS 12v cable plugged in. Since you've already bought the new PSU, I guess you just have to wait for it to arrive instead.

Thanks for the reply, BMW.....Yeah, I have to wait....and hope that in the meantime nothing else goes wrong with my build. Brand new board and already I've had to clean some scratches of the heat pipe and fix a bent fin on the sink.....Instead of all the fins on the sink being perfectly straight and evenly spaced...there was ine in the middle that you could tell was bent just ever so slightly because it leaned to the left and created a weird spacing look at different angles. So I just ever so slightly, barely touching it....just straightened it out using nothing more than my finger nail. And now it's good as new. Well, if you ignore a tiny scratch in the audio shield that only shows up in certain lighting at certain angles.
But it's going to be in my case....which is dark, so it won't be at all visible.

so now that I've had to upgrade my power supply....I have essentially an entire PC that is going to go unused. I would need another case and an OS, but that's it. So max 200 dollars. And I really think that to get the most out of it, I would prefer to sell the whole thing as a pre-built machine with everything ready to go.
But considering the problems I have had with it (which are the reasons why i have upgraded) I am really hesitant about selling it at all.
SO my question is....what do I do with it????

As much as it hurts the wallet -the long term gain will definitely be worth it.
Yes the extra power connector is usually used for massive overclocking...
I don't know how it is with that specific motherboard subset.... On some motherboards though you get weird results if you only use one connector.
What happened on the Ryzen build I built for my brother it had two four pins if I used only one it would randomly not even boot. Other times it would boot but the keyboard or the mouse or the GPU wouldn't respond. Plugging both four pins in and it ran without trouble... till he force pulled the CPU out of the system .
As to the other question:
STORAGE!

As to the other question:
STORAGE! And you must've been thinking, "No (insert brother's name here......!) Don't use the Force! It's not your ally in this situation!" *Oh why did I ever teach him to use Force PULL....?!* My dad was going to buy it off me to upgrade his Media PC for the downstairs TV in our Rec Room......For the equivalent of a month and a half of Rent, but then this morning decided to change his mind because he knows the troubles I've had with it. Fine, fair enough. But now that still begs the question of what I'm going to do with it. I can't in good conscience sell it beacuse of the problems I've had with it.....and certainly not for what I would estimate (in honesty and fairness) that it is worth.......So what do I do with it? Take it to Bestbuy or Canada COmputers and have then ditch it??? OR Get Canada Computers to fix it up enough that it is working and therefore sellable??????? And RE: PSU Capacity......As I said, the 1000 Watt P2 (Super Flower Gen) 80+ Platinum is the PSU I've had my eye on for at least a year, maybe two....So when I saw it on Canada COmputers last night-- I was stunned because they've been out of stock for over a year on that model...and even EVGA is completely out.....But when I saw it available to order from Canada COmputer's Online Store for only 399.99, I immediately hit the "BUY IT NOW!" Button. Of course, I flirted with the 1200 Watt P2 (because the number 1200 looked so much nicer on the box, and 1200 is BIGGER than 1000, LOL).....But then I saw the price tag for the 1200 watt P2: 510.00 CAD, which would be closer to 600 after taxes and Shipping......175.00 dollar more than the 1000 Watt P2......And I didn't think I could justify the huge price let alone the NEED for it in my PC (other than bragging rights foolishness). I was comfortable with the price of the 1000 watt P2, and I figured that that was truly more than I would ever need even when i upgrade to the 3080 Ti in five years. I think I made a smart choice. Now I just want to get the damned thing built and running so I can get back to playing games! At this rate DA 4 and the next Mass Effect title will be out before I get this bloody thing built.

I ain't giving him expensive computers anymore.

I doubt any rebuilder or reseller would polish it up if you told them it had a bad motherboard. I still advise to put it in storage. Use parts from it if necessary when other computer issues come up. And RE: PSU Capacity......As I said, the 1000 Watt P2 (Super Flower Gen) 80+ Platinum is the PSU I've had my eye on for at least a year, maybe two....So when I saw it on Canada COmputers last night-- I was stunned because they've been out of stock for over a year on that model...and even EVGA is completely out.....But when I saw it available to order from Canada COmputer's Online Store for only 399.99, I immediately hit the "BUY IT NOW!" 1000 W PSU is definately a good choice. Especially if you consider the 4000 series or the RX 7000 series cards power draw.
That said...
Either the computer has blood all over it or you like me have that England dialect of being bloody. I more inclined to believe the latter.

Actually, I'm mostly Irish (by way of Nova Scotia) on my dad's side though there's also a strange mix of French, German, Jewish and my dad's paternal grandfather was of Ojibwe descent, originally from Manitoba. My mom's grandmother was born in England in 1896 and was shipped to Toronto when she was just 5 years old. My mom's mom was born in Quebec. My late paternal grandmother was born in Toronto.....And my dad's parents both served during WWII. My grandfather was stationed down east in Gander, NFLD. He was one of the only men there who both taxied and serviced the Lancaster Bombers that came over from Europe. He was a "Non-Comm", just below the entry rank of a Commissioned Officer, but a highly valuable one so they chose not to promote him and give him an Officer's Commission, because if they did that meant they would have to send him overseas, and they didn't want to do that. My grandmother was a 1st LT in the Army Nursing Corps, stationed in Toronto.

My family's first PC was a 486 DX II-66 I remember, for I am old. They usually weighed a ton and were crappy. It would show a Mhz of 66 then show 200 then 33 then 0 then 66 NEVER constant. Was that the display in the case? Because they would show what ever you wanted; a gimmick, basically. Specifically an AMD Athlon I had a few of those, pretty good CPUs. Thunderbirds used to run tad hot though. And by hot I mean that they needed some serious cooling. Geforce 760 TI -Only card to die from constant 81*C load over 1 hour. I still have one of those. Not Nvidia's finest hour. Yup, had one of those as well. But the Drivers and Catalyst COntrol Centre always SUCKED Indeed they did. To a point where it was getting ridiculous.

THough he isnt a Hemophiliac, because my dad is a Type 2 Diabetic....if he cuts himself-- even a paper cut, he bleeds very easily and far more than normal....Even on simple things that you wouldn't think would cut you. Like scraping your arms on the edge of corrugated cardboard.
