My old original G5 Gaming Mouse is dreadfully slow and stiff. When playing Tomb Raider.....To make Lara move even 45 degrees in any direction....I had to swipe my mouse no less than seven times across the surface, and the reaction of button-press vs action on screen was about a half-second out, so it made the combative parts ridiculously hard even on EASY. Plus the Mouse Wheel is so stiff I think I've developed arthritis in my fingers over the past few hours....so all in all as far as Gaming is concerned this old G5 just doesn't cut it. Though I am relieved to say that it did 500000% SOLVE my Age-old flashing problem. So, yay for that! But for my gaming future.....I have ordered the X17 from EVGA. After being burned by Logitech with the 502HERO....I'm not going back there again. I bought EVGA because I have several other products from them and hav always, awlays had excellent quality and service. Plus I emailed them with questions regarding the X17 Gaming Mouse and they say they will readily provide the stellar support I am so accustomed to if I should ever need it....even if the Mouse is long out of warranty. (Who can argue with that?) I have also read some very solid reviews of EVGA's X17 Gaming Mouse, and though I like Razer for their keyboards, I've heard that their Mice are "cheap knock-offs of Logitech's HERO line-up.....Just with far less build quality and even worse software." So that was enough for me to stay far away from Razer for Mice. First for the mouse being slow -if you can access the polling rate, sensitivity and DPI it can be corrected: Personally I use: 1 tick below max windows sensitivity Windows pointer precision enabled -this actually slows the fast-ness of the sensitivity.
Polling rate and DPI are different for everyone so I would suggest this guys' advice: I found I liked the above sensitivity and a dpi of 1600 for desktop 3200 for games and 4000 for sniping.
As to peripherals my philosophy is: BRBNENS
For the layman: Buy Reliable But Not Expensive Nor Stupid
I have only ever bought reliable and cheap Mice and Keyboards -Not over $30 on either. Reason: If one does up and fail then it isn't an arm and a leg that I need to replace it. Though I have never had a single cheap mouse or keyboard fail... Did try a $100 keyboard once and it failed in two months.
For crying out loud I am using the following mouse and keyboard which only cost me $45 total: 3 1/2 years later and the mouse is still going without issue. 10 Years later and keyboard is still going -with a few slight issues.
This new build however I will be getting an actual mechanical keyboard and mouse by IOGear. They were both under $50 when I order them but I am now looking at getting backups that are far cheaper. Reason IOGear already axed the keyboard and may soon being axing the mouse.
I more than likely am going to have to hunt around for another keyboard that will go below 50. The mouse above is still available so at least I can get less than 30 for that.

My last post didn't make any sense, sorry about that. What I meant to say was, I have burnt my budget elsewhere, and ordered something... completely different. But I am still pursuing the upgrade and would very much appreciate your input regarding the case. This is my #1 candidate atm: Fractal Design 7My specs: 1. good airflow and possible to mount two 360s 2. 5.25" bay (yes, I still need that, albeit rarely) 3. easy to clean filters 4. no glass panels (nothing but good ol' fashioned fans for me) The plan entails one large, horizontally mounted graphics card and two AIOs. And yes, I have already seen the usual Youtubers' reviews of the case.

My dad used a FD case that was very similar for several years (though didn't have the huge Cooler support). Curious though, what in the world do you need 2 360mm Coolers for? Are you going to liquid cool your GPU as well, bevcause that's the only thing I can think of......Do tell, I am interested to hear this logic from inside your mind.

Right, I may have underestimated the Graphics card situation. There's nothing to be had, just scalpers everywhere. Even my trusty local store has yanked up prices, so I'll have to wait until there's some kind of normalcy in the world again. Some good news though: Fractal Design 7 fits into the desk cabinet, where my current rig resides. So I'm ordering the case; it's a start at least, and I can familiarize myself with it. No rearranging needed.

As for the case, love the Fractal. My trusty old Fractal R4 is still doing well after 7 years of service. I did have one unexpected issue the other day though. Last year, I upgraded my old mainboard/CPU/RAM to a new rig with a Ryzen 3700X. I started out with the stock cooler but it wasn't great and the other day, it sometimes wouldn't start up correctly. So I got myself a new CoolerMaster CPU cooler. Thought it wouldn't be much hassle to switch out because the case has a window in the back, just under the CPU unit, so you can change the cooler mount without having to remove the mainboard from the case. But the old R4 case was not yet made for AM4 CPU sockets. The window was just a little out of place and too small, so I couldn't quite get the rear mounted holding frame on the back of the board in place.
It worked out in the end though, just had to slightly unscrew some of the board's holding screws and "push it out" a little bit. The frame went into place with a bang.
At first I was afraid I put too much tension on the board but everything still works. Proof again, that a little bit of force is often the way to go.
Oh yea, and the new cooler works beautifully. Finally a silent rig.

I think he explains the current situation quite well: That said I got a question about the desk cabinet your putting a RD7 into... Is it open or a closed door case because if the latter wouldn't that create a heat soak into the wood?

Sure I could call CS but will not -I must figure it out on my own.
That said...
If you ever want a cheap mouse and keyboard that is good and will last years the ones above are here on amazon: One good thing about both is you can turn the RGB off. Speaking of RGB the keyboard has no software.
The mouse seems to have the best RGB software I have found though.

What card do you have right now? My current rig is very budget-minded; I'm using GTX 1660 Ti. My trusty old Fractal R4 is still doing well after 7 years of service. That's good to hear. Will post pics when the case arrives. it sometimes wouldn't start up correctly. So I got myself a new CoolerMaster CPU cooler. That was a good catch. Which reminds me, I should check my media PC for dried thermal paste. And there's my motivation for upgrading. I really need a GPU that runs cooler and quieter, even if I have to mod the crap out of it.

Why? It can be done correctly and get temperatures like liquid cooling. I'm open to suggestions. Stock cooling is usually bad and loud. Is it open or a closed door case I plan on ditching the case door for better cooling. The cabinet has got a door, so the looks don't matter, and I just open the door when gaming; I removed the back panel long ago.

I like it.
Well for liquid cooling on air -this is something I will always be testing and improving. But so far these have given the best results:
First though are some mandates: Computer either with no side panel on or a side panel with fan grill. For liquid cooling on air you will need to get the room to have as low as humidity as possible.
Probably a dehumidifier nearby or in a nearby room would be applicable.
Now to the mains: CPU Setup:
1-> Don't skimp on Heatsink fans: FOUR Noctua A12x25 or Industrial with PWM control are a must -unless you want loud.
2--> D14 or D15 is an absolute -NOT Chronomax - the black paint will just add heat soak.
3---> LONG zip ties.
4----> Make the Heatsink a 4 Fan setup:
5----->Now here is the trick: zip tie the forth fan on top horizontally on top of the heat sink like so: If noticing the room getting to hot. Lock the CPU to 99% in Windows power manager so it can't boost.
GPU Setup: First and foremost you would need 3 Noctua A12x25's and more long zip-ties. Second: zip tie the third fan at 90* at the back side like this guy did so you get the three fans a sideways L shape: Ignore the top fan and the one at the front of the card at the monitor connections those are unimportant. These are the first steps to air liquid cooling. After this it is up to you how to set up your intake fans. I don't know how loud is too loud but this setup is quieter than my air conditioner on low.
It does have issues though.
Mainly if the computer goes to idle it can hit single digit *C and want to lock up.

Oh yea, and the new cooler works beautifully. Finally a silent rig. As Cineplex used to say, "Silence is Golden" (to which I add, so is awesome liquid cooling). I was looking at CoolerMaster's AIOs (because I use a H500M Midtower)....I didn't want to go full 360, but the only had 240s.....I was wanting a larger 280, so I opted to go with the brand of AIO cooler I have known for years and that was Corsair. But CoolerMaster is definitely up there. Love their cases and I've heard great stuff about the AIO CLCs.

After connecting with someone from Logitech this morning RE: my 502 causing the weird flashing......He told me to completely uninstall, delete all traces of whatever version of GHub software, firmware, Drivers etc....Anything/everything to do with my Logitech 502, then reboot and reinstall a fresh, clean updated version.......and after doing that for the last 2.5 hours there has been ZERO issues of any kind with this 502 HERO!
I am so shocked, I don't know what to do......And this is after I have already ordered the EVGA X17!

I say keep both should one fail you have a backup. And believe me if you have mouse buttons fail IT IS PREFERRED to have another mouse. Imagine you are forced to right click for left click and right click to scroll and left side button for left click. Much better to just have a backup to use.

Great choice on case, it's the one I wish I had bought. I like the PC-011, but if you want a chance to do a legit custom loop with a 360 for intake and a second 360 for exhaust, don't buy what I bought. Full ATX + PC011 = dumb jedi, dumb dumb jedi.

These are the first steps to air liquid cooling. Umm, I'll keep you posted. Mainly if the computer goes to idle it can hit single digit *C and want to lock up. That's hardly an issue around here. The lowest I've seen my rig go is 15C/60F.

Yeah, I think it'll serve me well. I like Lian Li's cases, particularly the Lancool II Mesh, but they always seem to have that one annoyance that irks me too much. Like a bottom dust filter that is removed from the back. Like, really? I've been eyeing EK's custom loop kits, but haven't decided anything.

Yeah sorry the lowest this liquid on air setup has gotten here is 7*C but then again that is in the winter when it goes below freezing outside.

Got my EVGA X17 Gaming Mouse today, a week earlier than it was supposed to arrive because I just got an email today from Bestbuy saying it had just been shipping and was due next week Wednesday. For now though, as my 502 HERO seems to be working perfectly fine *touch wood*....I am going to put the new mouse away in a drawer.

A thief would think it is so highly valued and steal it... The jokes on them.

I've taken it out of the Puorlator box it was shipped in, but I haven't touched its own packaging. I have it nicely, neatly tucked away in the middle drawer of my desk, just to my left. It fits perfecly.

Might as well ask this here. I am looking at a new PC build. I am going Intel (I've had AMD in the past, and they're on my shit list for the foreseeable future), despite the competition being considered better at the moment. The issue I'm having is deciding on a CPU. The last time I upgraded my MBD/CPU/RAM was to buy an i7 4790K for Dragon Age Inquisition...things were simpler then. Now, when I start looking, I see the following information. For gaming, multiple cores/threads don't matter, only single core speed matters, buy an i5 something. O....k? The i7 11700K outperforms all the i9s on CPU Userbenchmark, buy an i7 11700K or KF. The i9s are the most powerful Intel CPUs currently on the market. I used to speak nerd. I really did. I still have an HP nx6320 Dual Core 1.8Ghz laptop that runs Vista, a 1024x768 14" display with 512MB RAM and a 40GB HDD. I mostly use it for really old GoG games (think Quest for Glory, or Police Quest...and yes, Leisure Suit Larry is there as well - shut up, you aren't my real Mum). I built the current PC myself, but have little appetite (and less time) to do so again. So, to people in the know on such matters, what say you? My heart says i7...but the information available on performance is so bloody contradictory. Whatever I get will be watercooled and paired with 32GB RAM and my existing RTX 2080 Ti. I have a 4K60Hz monitor and am fine with this. I do not need eye bleeding frame rates. Stable 60 is all I want.

I am going Intel ( I've had AMD in the past, and they're on my shit list for the foreseeable future), despite the competition being considered better at the moment. You referring to the FX-Fiasco or Athalon craze or something else? You wouldn't attack the people at AMD personally would you -granted most there now weren't in 2010? Now, when I start looking, I see the following information.
For gaming, multiple cores/threads don't matter, only single core speed matters, buy an i5 something. O....k? Source of this stupidity?
