My recommandations: 1. buy an AIO with a very flat CPU block and improve case ventilation. Basically what bmwcrazy said and what Steve said in the video. OR 2. Buy a new case and dump that plastic aberration. A proper air cooler and a case fan or two will make all the difference. Yeah, I think an 120mm AIO is probably the easiest way to do it. There's very little clearance for the CPU cooler because that Alienware case has the PSU right on top of the CPU. Dell offers the 120mm AIO as an optional cooler. So any Asetek 120mm AIO should work like the Corsair H60 or H75.

I keep my laptop cool in the summer by placing a large, flat container full of one solid block of ice on top of the hand rest/keyboard area. Not sure how well this will work with a proper desktop though

I can attest to the quality of both of those Corsair 120mm Coolers as I have had both over teh years. But a better bang-for-buck in performance (though it does have a much thicker rad than either of those models, so you will want to do some serious measuring first)....But if it fits, the H80i v2 is amazing, better than either the 60 or 75 provided you have the clearance. Unfortunately that Alienware case only has enough room for a single fan. So either H60 or H75. Those Corsair AIO are all made by Asetek, so the build quality is pretty much the same.

Yes that's true they are all made by Asetek so all pretty much the same you're right. I guess what I was referring to was the performance of the extra-thick rad on the 80 v2 in comparison.

Considering that I have a fluctuating bilateral hearing loss of 60db, I have a question to pose: Thee first dedicated sound card I purchased was the Soundblaster 16 in 1992....and the last soundcard I ever used was the AWE 64, in 1996. Since 2000 I have been using onboard sound from my motherboards and I am still using a pair of BOSE Companion 2 Series 1 desktop speakers from 2009 that I purchased at Costco that have lasted through at least 5 builds including my previous X99 Phoenix/Intel 6850K build that was from 2016.
lately though due to my hearing loss, I have found that my Bose desktop speakers are less than adequate. They're still good for listening to music, but in Gaming....I have to crank they up to at least half way to be able to hear spoken dialogue. Sound effects are okay-- thought forget about direction-- I'm terrible at direction that's why I totally sucked at ANTHEM at first. Things like bullets and explosions, fine. But it's spoken dialogue I miss a lot of in games when using my desktop speakers. That is why for the Tomb Raider Trilogy, I have moved back to using my Logitech G 935 headset because it has power DTS-X 2.0, 7.1 Spatial Surround Sound, and with its powerful 50mm Drivers, I don't actually have to turn them up all that much to be able to hear things quite clearly even with my moderate hearing loss, on most days.
I have really really enjoyed playing Tomb Raider's Definitive Survivor Trilogy in DTS-X 7.1 Surround sound. I am wondering....even taking my hearing loss into account.....Would I notice a difference if I bought a dedicated soundcard (such as the NU Audio from EVGA or whatever the top-end Soundblaster card is these days) along with a bigger sound system, such as the Logitech Z633 (2.1 speaker system 400 Watts THX Certified).
OR (considering my hearing loss) would it be wasted money?

OR (considering my hearing loss) would it be wasted money? Nowadays, most people think sound cards are a waste of money. Which is kind of true considering a good sound card could cost almost as much as a motherboard. From my personal experience, dedicated sound cards usually have higher line-out signal level so they sound "louder" when you connect them to speakers without an amplifier. If your speakers are amplified already, this shouldn't be an issue for you. Just make sure set up your speakers properly with Windows's built-in Speaker Setup tool or with your sound card/onboard audio's managing app. You also have to do the same with the games that you play. If you have a 2.1 system, use stereo output. If you have a 5.1 system, use 5.1 output. If your in-game audio setting is set to 7.1 surround sound for your G935 headset, make sure to switch back to stereo when you use your stereo Bose speakers. Otherwise you'd be missing a couple channels such as the "center speaker" where most dialogue is played. I think this is probably why you have to crank up the volume in order to hear the dialogue because you don't have a center speaker. That's not a problem for your G935 headset because it basically takes your game's surround sound channels and mix it into stereo to simulate the surround sound. So just play around with your audio settings, switch them all back to stereo, and see if they fix low volume dialogue problem for your stereo speakers.

OR (considering my hearing loss) would it be wasted money? 2.1 Usually consists of two speakers and a subwoofer. It is ok but having weakened hearing I don't know if it would help. Especially if what your needing sounds like increased audio awareness and higher volume in games. 5.1 or 7.1 could help -if you have the ability to increase the volume or decibles of the channels separately.
Personally when I went to 7.1 -skipped 5.1 -it definitely increased my audio awareness. 5.1 and above does give you better audio spatial awareness than 2.0 or 2.1. I don't personally use a professional DAC or Motherboard audio but I do use this combination: Logitech Surround Sound Speaker Z506: + USB External 7.1 Channel Audio Adapter: This device has software that allows upping the certain channels: Clicking the speaker in the bottom right allows raising the decibels. This setup is good for games that require spatial audio awareness like Splinter Cell: Conviction. Where sound coming from the left actually is coming from the left.
Turn to the left and there is the enemy.

I imagine though that having a subwoofer would help to literally have you body "feel" the deeper sounds. I can attest that barring hearing loss once you truly experience 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound you almost never want to go back to 2.0. For isn't 5.1 to stereo like going from stereo to mono? Or do most not even know what mono is anymore?

DAC and sound card are basically the same thing. They both take digital signals and convert them into analog signals. If you want to use an external DAC like a headphone amp + DAC or a receiver, you actually don't even need a sound card at all. Most external DAC support USB so you can just use a USB cable. For receivers, you can just use an HDMI cable for both video and audio. It's that easy. The reason why I'm using a Sound Blaster sound card with a headphone DAC is mostly due to laziness. I'm too lazy to switch between the audio devices and change the speaker settings whenever I switch between my 5.1 speakers and my headphones. Usually that's not a problem for most people, but when you use an external DAC for your headphones, you need to change the audio device every time switch from headphones to speakers and vice versa. The good thing about modern Sound Blaster cards is that they can also mix surround sound channels into stereo and output through digital via SPDIF, AND you still be able to use the analog ports with your speakers all at the same time. That means I can switch between headphones and speakers in any game or app, without needing to change any of my audio settings or switch between audio devices. It is just sooo convenient. So yeah, I spent $200 on a sound card because of my lethargy and I'm not proud of it.

Yup, that's an external DAC AKA an external sound card, but a rather cheap looking one. You can connect it with a USB cable and it also supports TOSLINK SPDIF. Those things are actually quite useful for laptops.

It was also about $45 when I first got it three years ago.
Its now down to about $25-30 But it works well for using 7.1.

I've come to the conclusion that I have not seen this temperature issue with anything BUT CP2077.
It's an oddity to be sure...
I'll try to get a busy mission in DCS, fly down the Israeli coast or something... But I have not actually seen this anywhere else, and CP according to Google does seem to be a bit... weird on the CPU.

My Gigabyte Z490 Aorus Master uses the ESS Sabre Studio Reference DAC is HI-Res Audio Certified, DTS Surround Certified ESS SABRE reference DAC ES9118 ESS SABRE reference DAC (ESS 9118) Hyperstream Dynamic Range (SNR 125dB) High-Res music (32bit, 192KHz PCM) Super low THD+N (THD+N -112db) www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z490-AORUS-MASTER-rev-1x#kfThe best audio quality of any motherboard I've ever owned, so it's not the onboard sound that I am questioning....It's mostly my aging desktop speakers. Nevertheless, I think I will stick with what I've got and save myself 170.00 (150.00 +Tax CA) for the Z633 from Logitech.

They are compact, very versatile, and they sound amazing. I highly recommend them.

For the money, (only 150.00 CAD for the pair....back in 1998) When I bought my very first stereo unit ( a TEAC 50 WATT Amp which I still have and a matching TEAC 5 Disk CD-Changer, which I had replaced 3x in four years because the chip that drove the changer continually died)....I still remember it was a 400 dollar Amp, sold to me for 200, the CD-Changer was 425 because it was a rotational changer, sold to me for 200, and to top it off....I bought these one-off Canadian designed/manufactured bookshelf speakers 6"....made by a company called Design Accoustics. Made in the US, or at least that's what i was told at the time. The PS-55 model. 75-watts. I was 16, and trusted the knowledge of the man who was selling me this stuff because he was a good friend of my dad's for many years and had been in business since 1980. For the size, a nice 6 inch bookshelf speaker....they had amazing sound. Not sure what the retail price was but he gave them to me for 150/pair. And paired with the TEAC Amp I'd bought, they sounded really good together. Never really found out why..... My amp had dials for the Bass, Treble and Balance.....Dad had a much more expensive Amp from Pioneer at the time. His amp had an EQ, and yet he always said that the dials on my amp produced better tones and equalization than his traditional EQ with the sliders. Then Christmas of 2003, after getting rid of my TEAC 5-Disk Changer the year before because it was costing me 75.00 CAD every year to replace the chip.....For Christmas 2003, as a total surprise....my dad had bought me a beautiful 5-Disk Changer from Technics (which I still have though I haven't used it in 10 years). It retailed for 699.99, Dad got it from 300.00 because it was a display model. He told me it was a display model but I didn't care about that it was brand new. So what if it sat on the shelf on display. It was in perfect condition. The guy who sold this stuff was good friends with my dad for many years. But man...those Design Accoustics speakers, I wish I could hear them again, they sounded so good....But our neighbour in our other half is the type that pounds on walls and calls the cops if a mouse farts in the basement and she happens to hear it. That's part of why I want the Z633 2.1 system with the big-ass subwoofer. Roses are red, violets are blue. When I listen to Classic Rock, my neighbour does too

Duplex? Maybe sound canceling wallpaper may be necessary?

Duplex? Maybe sound canceling wallpaper may be necessary? Well, she's in her mid 60s I would think....I'm guessing she grew up in the '60s so there's no reason why she should hate it-- but she's kinda like Luke's description of Ben: "Kind of a strange, old hermit" She lives by herself with her cats, she doesn't get out much and she likes her peace, quiet and privacy. We have a huge tree in the middle of our front lawn that is mostly dead......The whole middle section is cut out and only the outter limbs are left. It looks horrible and does nothing. She claims it gives her privacy, same with the ratty, half-dead evergreen on the corner of her lot by her driveway (neither tree serves any purpose at all. Both look like Medusa). As well, the same goes with the 50 year old bushes in her front garden. She has lived bside us for a little over 20 years (we've been in our house since before I was born..... since 78) but she hasnt done any landscaping, renovating or remodelling. Her half of the house (it's a semi-detached: Two houses with exactly the same floor plan and square footage, seperated by a wall between them, as mirror images of each other). And instead of a second floor on an upper level, it's called a back-split because the bedrooms are in the back half of the house on only a slight elevation. Ugh! Walpaper. But 'sound canceling wallpaper' what will they come up with next? Just the other day I learned that BOSE makes fully functional, UVA/UVB protected, polarized Sunglasses with a soundsystem in them. Who needs an MP3, Ipod or anything else like that when you can have your music pumping right from your sunglasses!
