So they like classic rock or hate it?
Duplex? Maybe sound canceling wallpaper may be necessary? Well, she's in her mid 60s I would think....I'm guessing she grew up in the '60s so there's no reason why she should hate it-- but she's kinda like Luke's description of Ben: "Kind of a strange, old hermit" She lives by herself with her cats, she doesn't get out much and she likes her peace, quiet and privacy. We have a huge tree in the middle of our front lawn that is mostly dead......The whole middle section is cut out and only the outter limbs are left. It looks horrible and does nothing. She claims it gives her privacy, same with the ratty, half-dead evergreen on the corner of her lot by her driveway (neither tree serves any purpose at all. Both look like Medusa). As well, the same goes with the 50 year old bushes in her front garden. She has lived bside us for a little over 20 years (we've been in our house since before I was born..... since 78) but she hasnt done any landscaping, renovating or remodelling. Her half of the house ( it's a semi-detached: Two houses with exactly the same floor plan and square footage, seperated by a wall between them, as mirror images of each other). And instead of a second floor on an upper level, it's called a back-split because the bedrooms are in the back half of the house on only a slight elevation.
Ugh! Walpaper. But 'sound canceling wallpaper' what will they come up with next? Just the other day I learned that BOSE makes fully functional, UVA/UVB protected, polarized Sunglasses with a soundsystem in them. Who needs an MP3, Ipod or anything else like that when you can have your music pumping right from your sunglasses! Sure sounds like a duplex: Maybe a diverted Duplex.
Maybe I am wrong but the sound canceling wallpaper may indeed help with sound issues... The putting it up probably would be... problematic with the sound of hammers.

Would I notice a difference if I bought a dedicated soundcard I thought I'd give my two cents about this. external DAC like a headphone amp + DAC or a receiver, you actually don't even need a sound card at all This has been my setup for some time. I like it a lot. I'm too lazy to switch between the audio devices and change the speaker settings whenever I switch between my 5.1 speakers and my headphones. This isn't necessary, if you daisy chain your amp with the DAC. If you want good speakers, you should look into studio monitors Well, this. And there's an added benefit: The directivity of the studio speakers means, that you get more decibels into your ears, than into the room. I.e. it sounds loud when you sit in the hot spot, but take a few steps back, and it gets quieter fast. Just be warned they will cost $250 or more. Yes, studio speakers can be very expensive.

About the graphics card situation.. I thought the RX6600 XT would be adequate for my needs, so I've been following the card's MSRP. There's a store in the neighbouring city, that listed the card at 420 quid prior to launch. I could be bothered to take the trip if the price was right, even for a mediocre card. Alas, at launch the price had taken a 100 quid hike, and the stock of 50 cards was sold within a day. Now they are sold on various sites for a markup. This is going just swimmingly..

Mining and scalping should be illegal. It's not fair to the average consumer who has perhaps already put in a downpayment to pre-order a GPU that their item gets bought up in bulk at low-ball prices by bots, scalpers and people who use their GPUs for mining. But why anyone would by an expensive card like the 2080 Super, 2080 Ti (when it was new) or the 30 Series to mine for bitcoin and the like is beyond me. It destroys your GPU (or so I have heard).

But why anyone would buy an expensive card They use those profitability calculators. If you get electricity for free, it'll only take a year's mining to make the MSRP for a RTX3090. Idiotic if you ask me, but hey, whatever works, right.

This isn't necessary, if you daisy chain your amp with the DAC. Unfortunately my external DAC is mainly designed for headphones. That means it only has stereo output. My PC speakers are 5.1, so I either need to use a sound card or a receiver. Using a receiver is a bit overkill for my gaming PC setup and it's way easier to just plug these speakers straight into my sound card.

Do you know any low profile sound cards that are capable of 7.1 at 444Hz NOT 440 Hz that would fit in the 3rd pci-express slot? Now please don't shout conspiracy at me. Its 7.1 surround sound as to why I am at 444Hz and not 440 -NOT all those weirdos. I am an extreme audiophile and maybe because I have the same speakers is why but in my ownauditory experience I found what this guy says is true: My sound is so much more profound with 7.1 and 444 than my old 440 days.
But I DON'T DARE try it on a 2.1 system ever again -its horrid.

I am still waiting on lowering regular Enterprise Hard Drives prices... Maybe I should ask it here if I should stick with the following configuration or change it in the new build: Note 1: Drives 1 is 53% free. Drives 2,3,4,5,6 are 10% free. Note 2: No SSD or Nvme for me -they still outside my price to GB ratio yield.
The current layout: Should I just double the capacity or some think of something more out of the box? No. Don't suggest I merge drives that is never going to happen again.

There might be a way to change it in the playback software that you use, but what you're asking is very specific and I'm not an expert. Maybe ask someone who knows about professional recording equipment.

Still I apologize for being to exacting but I guess that is me.
Though you are right true playback software like Audacity it is olden way and VLC can do it. I like my concerts to sound like concerts and I am right there actually feeling the music -literally to my left to my right behind in front of me.
Alas I figure now though that if this pathetic $40 DAC I am using can do it then any can. So I will reiterate to this point:
Do you know of any low profile sound cards that can use the 3rd pci-express slot in the bottom of the motherboard?

Well, PCIe sound cards are all x1 PCIe. So you should be able to use them in any PCIe slots. The question is whether or not you can find a low profile sound card that's actually worth spending money over the onboard audio. The ALC1220-VB on the B550 Aorus Pro is pretty decent but I don't know how good Gigabyte's board design is to isolate the chip and reduce the electromagnetic interference. Some onboard audio solutions are quite noisy. Most sound cards do a much better job eliminating the interference but having an external DAC in a good enclosure is still the best. You should try onboard audio first and if it isn't up to your standards, then you can start searching for an alternative solution. The problem is that you don't know if you like it until you try it yourself. The popular low profile cards seem to be the Asus Xonar DGX and the Sound Blaster Audigy FX. I don't really know if they are actually better than the onboard audio on the B550 Aorus Pro.

I don't really know if they are actually better than the onboard audio on the B550 Aorus Pro. Well thank you for stopping me. BTW not all sound cards are PCIe I think this is PCI:
It wouldn't work in the PCI-express slot? Remember my PCIe x1 slots are already in use.
On-board audio or OB-Audio is not something I like to use on any motherboard. Its from a combination of a computer event and the environment and how it affected me:
You have to cycle back 13 years ago -it nearly killed a PC build using OB audio. I plugged a Mic -that used wall power as well into the onboard audio and had a storm and SPIKE! Blew out the whole audio part of the motherboard and anytime I tried to listen to music or hear game audio... My computer would BSOD. If I tried to use the Mic it would RSOD.
Didn't take long to realize this was motherboard sound related.
So I stopped using the OB audio completely and went to that DAC. The motherboard lasted 3 more years before being replaced for a total of 3 1/2 years of use. I have not used OB audio on this motherboard -same model and it is still running 8 1/2 years later.
Of course had to replace other components but the motherboard still going strong. Pretty sure that storm spike damaged the Motherboard. So I decided then and there never again -no matter how good I wouldn't use OB Audio. With all this sound card talk I didn't realize about my DAC being better than them. So its better to just keep using it over ALL sound cards. Sweet...

With all this sound card talk I didn't realize about my DAC being better than them. So its better to just keep using it over ALL sound cards. Sweet... Still, that's not something that you can generalize like that. It's not that simple. There are good sound cards and there are bad sound cards. There are good external DACs and there are some bad external DACs as well. Some cheap DACs can actually pick up coil whine through USB connection and that's rather annoying. My advice is still the same. Give the onboard audio a try and compare it with your DAC. It doesn't cost you anything and you may be surprised by the results.

Fair enough. Though how can something running off USB 2.0 have coil whine?

Though how can something running off USB 2.0 have coil whine? I honestly don't know how it happens, but the real experts could explain it better and they even have audio products just for these issues. Generally speaking, USB connection is quite noisy because it isn't designed solely for audio equipment. A lot of stuff like coil whines and ground loop noises can still get through it. In most cases, it is especially noticeable when you play a game. That's why I still use an optical cable (TOSLINK SPDIF) for my external amp instead of a USB cable. It just works and no headaches. If you don't don't notice it, you don't have these issues and you're perfectly fine. Don't waste your money on these things.

Well mine is connected with a 5 Ft usb extender cable -dont ask -got the wrong size. Maybe that is why -far from electronic input.

Do you know any low profile sound cards that are capable of 7.1 at 444Hz NOT 440 HzWasn't Unicephalon 40-D an audio guy? And how does one tag another user?

I honestly don't know how it happens No one does. It's one of those things that audio guys keep hearing. I once tried explaining to a musician about signal interference, filtering and signal noise reduction, but he was having none of it. He said that nothing could be done about the noise, because no one understood how it came to be in the first place. Well okay then.. USB connection is quite noisy It can be, but it doesn't need to be. And high quality DAC:s have very good filtering. One of the reasons why I purchased a DAC was, that there's much less audible interference.
