Are headphones now actually capable of real 5.1 and 7.1? I know they used to make actual 5.1 headphones and headsets with multiple drivers in different positions but honestly none of them was any good. I'm a bit old school so I prefer traditional "audiophile-approved" stereo headphones with a cable and a good standalone microphone. For gaming and movies, the software for Sound Blaster cards all do a pretty descent job simulating surround sound through stereo output. So there's really no need for me to get any 5.1 or 7.1 headphones. I mean why would I use a 7.1 gaming headset when I could use my $800 Audeze LCD-2 or my $3000 Focal Utopia? I am waiting for someone to say... But its not real!
If it truely gives the 5.1 vibes then why not... Though 5.1 head phones on that caliber are a bit beyond my price range at the moment.

It's the same with other DTS-X 7.1 headsets. It's all simulated surround sound through stereo output which is fine. They work really well and that's all you need.

Like the clattering of cuttlery or the banging of a metal spoon on the edge of a glass jar. Or the cracking of ice cubes out of the tray into the box all at once...... *covers ears and cringes* Those sounds and more only serve to intensify my already severe Tinnitus You forgot the worst: Wet finger circling the the open jar...
My ears are always, always ringing....There's never a time when they don't ring. I even have to sleep with the ringing and often am woken up because the ringing spikes and becomes so loud that it is actually painful (like a knife stabbing my ear drums). But even on days when the ringing is at a tolerable level, there are certain things, certain sounds that not only make me physically cringe and cover my ears....But whatever the sound is, drives me absolutely bonkers and it actually serves to aggravate my tinnitus. This is partly because at this point in time, my hearing loss-- though it is still a loss, can fluctuate, so some days I have okay days....bearable days, but then even on okay days the Tinnitus can go through the roof to the point where that pure tone of 7000 hz is all I hear. three times in the last 2 years I have come very close (especiually in Winter when snow is covering the ground, or when it is raining) to being hit by a car because my ears are ringing so badly, so intensely, I don't hear the car approaching. Even the slightest touch can send me for a loop and I'm doing everything I can to remain calm and sane. That picture above of Jeremy Renner.......that is me, struggling to cope with the sound in my ears, and also to remain vertical. Once the ringing gets really bad.....I often get vertigo right after that.....And then I have a Meniere's attack which can last from 30 mionutes to 8 hours. And that's not even mentioning the struggle to lip-read and follow conversation.......Damn these masks.

Yes though personally I am not really a fan of headphones and earbuds: Headphones cause my ears to turn red and burn like I just poured boiling water over them. Earbuds will not stay in my ears -I move to the music or turn my head and out they fall... Unless I use tape to hold them in but then that reverts me to the headphone solution above... You or anyone else got any ideas as to why?
However if not then I guess I am forced to use real 5.1 or 7.1 or maybe even 5.2 or 7.2 speakers... Which isn't all bad -if I can get the conversion right.

the clattering of cuttlery This must be one of the worst sounds in the universe. When I load the dishwasher, I try to do it as quietly as I can. Thank you! When my mom loads/unloads the dishwasher-- I'd swear she purposefully tries to make as much noise as possible! Then when she sees me cringing in pain.....she's like, "what??? Oh, come on! It's not that loud. Besides, you're in the kitchen and kitchen's can be noisy." OR when we are finishing dinner....she always tries to scrape as much food off her plate as humanly possible, and she does this by pressing the fork into the plate and dragging it along the surface to the point where it squeaks like nails down a chalk board. And even when the plate is virtually clean of food particles....she continues adnauseum. The only way she stops is when I tell you, "you've clean your plate of food. But you don't have to scrape the finish off the plate too. Please stop, it's making the plate squeak."

Headphones cause my ears to turn red and burn like I just poured boiling water over them. That I don't know. Maybe your skin is allergic to certain materials? Maybe try different pads? I've always thought it's just because my ear canals are narrow. You just have to find the right tips that fit your ears, but IEMs aren't for everyone. Some people just find them uncomfortable.

Well If I am allergic to materials then I am allergic to anything plush it seems. I have tried big padded headphones that have a leather feel, basic head phones that have the foam and on either it burns. The only way it doesn't lead to ears on fire is to just remove leather or foam and put the plastic right to my ear. Though its not very comfortable at least it doesn't burn. Guess I will have to stick to speakers.

Though github isn't easy for most to find -even the YT video links it incorrectly here is the right link:
And I just tried it and it works... Problem is I have moved on to using the Taskbar on the right side of the screen so I can't benefit from the joy of this.

My trusty local store had a sale, which hasn't happened in months, at least. I guess I should take it as good sign.
So I bought some stuff for the build, a PSU and some hard drives. Still hunting for a GPU though; not going to pay over 500 guid for it.

I've put it a bit to backburner. Same here. There's no rush, so I'll wait. I only bought stuff that doesn't become obsolete soon. The price of CPU has gone down! Yeah, I noticed. Ryzens have gotten tad cheaper lately.

The prices of my 109000KF and Aorus Master have gone down as well-- but it's moot because there's none in stock anywhere at Canada COmputers. Why advertise a price drop if there is no stock to sell?
"The 3090s are now FREE! We've made you wait so long since our initial deadline to have the stock on shelves that we are now having to give them away. Any make, any model 3090 of your choice is now completely free.........Only trouble is, there is still not even a single unit to be found anywhere in the world!More than that we are getting ready to push out our new 6090 TIs! Expected release date is sometime in 2030........ "
Does that make sense?

Why advertise a price drop if there is no stock to sell? I've seen this as well; I believe it's because the web store reverts to MSRP once the item sold is out of stock. It's kind of hilarious, because they are showing their retail markup to the world.
