Damn, that's a good price! Sadly I can't cough up anything like that atm. It's a decent price though the regular RTX 3080 is still the most sought after GPU, because the 3080 Ti basically costs $500 more and it isn't that much faster than the 3080. I signed up for EVGA's email notifications for the RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra all the way back in October last year and I'm still waiting for it. That's almost a year ago. If you care about the resell value, you should keep in mind that newer cards (except for the 3090) all have the hash rate limiter. So they are worth just a bit less on the second hand market. I really hope that both Nvidia and AMD bring the truly entry level/midrange GPUs back because as for now, the $300 GPU market is pretty much dead. The RTX 3060 and the RX 6600 both cost between $450 to $500. The RTX 3060 Ti costs about $580 to $600. That's only if you could get extremely lucky and find them in stock at MSRP. Actually about $850 for RTX 3060 TI right now.

I actually got another email notification just a couple days ago from EVGA regarding the RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra being in stock for $1400 USD. I asked everyone that I knew but no one wanted it, so I had to let that one go. I was pretty sad especially considering that card was going for at least $1800 USD on eBay. I just hope it went to someone who really wanted to use it for gaming and didn't end up on eBay. The GPU shortage might or might not improve but the prices will definitely go up due to the increased silicon material cost. Oh, Dude! If only you could have sent that to me up here in the Great White North! I would have totally jumped on that! IF only could have given you a free plane ride down to pick up the card to take home free of charge... That would be the day.

I'm finally beginning to see the big picture here. You are brute-forcing backups, and for an understandable reason. However.. If you want to follow the white rabbit, there's only one solution: Learn the ways of the force and take the red pill. Yes, you have to start learning Linux. Configure your own backup rig, or several. Off-site, on-site, internet or no, power or no power, (battery, obviously) cheap, expensive, it's all up to you. I don't even begin to fathom what kind of system would suit you best. Possibly a combination of old desktops and laptops in different locations. They could be just basic PCs with lots of drives, with or without RAID. Maybe complete with a semi-portable file server, and perhaps a truly portable device to go with it. Why Linux? Because it doesn't need internet; no activation, registration etc. It's also super stable and built to handle data day in day out. Or not, as it might be in your case. I honestly don't see any other viable solutions for your situation. In computing, there's always a way, but sometimes it's a long way. True.
I will say this:
If it ain't broke don't fix it.

According to hwbench.com/GeForce RTX 2070 Super & GeForce RTX 2080 Super beats the GeForce RTX 3060 GeForce RTX 3060 Ti beats the GeForce RTX 2070 Super & GeForce RTX 2080 Super. So maybe I should look at a 2000's series instead simply since I don't care about RTX.

That being said if I had the opportunity to upgrade, I would upgrade to a 3080TI or even the 3090 FTW 3 Ultra Gaming........OR whatever else was newer and hotter, and actually on the shelves in stock.

I could sell my GTX 1660TI for profit after two years of use. It's crazy. That's only if you could get extremely lucky and find them in stock at MSRP. That's not happening; it's a total pipe dream. We are living in an age, where I have to hide the empty GPU cardboard boxes in my storage, lest someone think there's a card inside.

That empty box is kinda what you're getting right now with the 30 series. It reminds me of the "Empty Box Campaign" that Kenner Toys did with their STAR WARS toy lines during Christmas of 76-77, because kids would receive a certificate in the mail as a 'proof of purchse' with a voucher that says "we owe you a toy and it will be shipped to your house on February xx" And Kenner held true to their word and kids received their toys. With this situation though companies aren't even saying "We owe you a card......." Instead they're saying "you're schitt outta luck and up schitt's creek without a paddle. We're sorry that you wasted your money, but we're not sorry we took your money from you. But undoubtedly we are ontining to make advancements and will have something even newer on the market soon, especially considering the upcoming release of LGA 1700, DDR 5, PCIE 5 and PCIE 6.0......And don't forget Windows 10 21H3-- um, uh, we mean Windows 11."

Fellow forumites, I could use your input, please.
I just saw my local store's entire stock of 6600 XTs vanish overnight. I've heard rumours, that because of the low power consumption, the 6600 XT is actually a good card for mining.
So, do I panic buy a card from the other store I mentioned earlier? The card I'm hoping to get, is the Powercolor 6600 XT Red Devil with dual BIOS, currently selling for $700.
Or should I wait? What do you think?

Sometimes you just gotta buy first and then think later. That's basically what I did and I ended up paying $3300 for two 3090s. Probably not the wisest decision but at least I can now play Honey Select 2 at 144 FPS.

Sometimes you just gotta buy first and then think later. Apparently so. And so I did; I bought a card. It's an Asus RTX 3060. Yes, it's crap, but at least I can call it upgrading. I hadn't noticed that ethereum has been rising steadily, so much in fact, that there's going to be another GPU shortage soon. Nothing seems to hinder mining very much, LHR or high prices. So I paid $750 for a $350 card. Not happy, but now the build is advancing at least. BTW, my local store is out of EK's CPU blocks; water cooling is not looking very promising atm.

Just get a used 980ti or a 10 series -like a 1070 -it will barely run 40 FPS at 1440p...
However it should run fine at 1080p or lower at medium details.
