Sometimes you may win to. Remember the 2070's with the bad memory batch?
Yeah, but the situations were vastly different back then. We didn't have a GPU shortage. Apples to tomatoes and I would still choose a tangerine. If that doesn't make sense that is ok.

I don't think you understand what I was talking about. When you see GPUs in stock on online retailers like Best Buy or Newegg, you only have a couple minutes or a couple seconds to buy before they are all out of stock. There is no time to consider which one is the better card or which one is the better value. That's the current situation and that's what I meant by "you buy first and think later." I bought an RTX 3090 Founders Edition in January this year from Best Buy. It was only in stock for about 5 seconds. I knew exactly what time Best Buy would release the cards. I even had a bunch of different RTX 3070, 3080, and 3090 cards in different web browser tabs, ready to be added to the cart as soon as Best Buy release them. The second they were dropped, all the 3070 and 3080 cards were sold out instantly. The 3090 Founders Edition was the only transaction that actually went through. After about 5 seconds, everything was sold out. I managed to get an RTX 3090 Founders Edition for $1500 and I felt like I just won the lottery. That should put things in perspective.

Could have ended up spending 10K on cards IF multiples did manage to go through. I always plan and think things through - NO EXCEPTIONS. If it works for you have at it.

I understand the multiple tabs. I do the same -but different since I number into the 20+ tabs when doing this -per store. And that is Newegg, Best Buy, Amazon, Micro Center and so on... so at least 80+tabs. I watch each of these individually and simultaneously multiple hours a day.
If they are out of stock -I don't worry or panic -either they come back into stock or don't...

I also am a patient man. Doubt anyone else does that.
It gives me the option of doing further research on each card and sellers.
However I will not allow myself the desire or authority to spend excess of core amount. If all this is met I will purchase in a shortage or just do without.
It is also a rule I have: Always have a backup that works -even if antiquated. I do already have a Vega 56, 1050ti, 970, RX550, 9800GT if need be. So if i am antiquated it doesn't bother me.

Could have ended up spending 10K on cards IF multiples did manage to go through. I always plan and think things through - NO EXCEPTIONS. If it works for you have at it. I only tried to add to cart, and the 3090 Founders Edition was the only one that actually went to the cart. I even had to do an email verification before I could check out because Best Buy tried very hard to combat bots. You just can't be too picky if you want to buy a GPU in today's market. Best Buy restocks about once a month and when the GPUs are in stock, they are sold out immediately. Newegg is still doing the Newegg Shuffle, which is basically a lottery. So only selected winners are allowed to buy GPUs and they're usually bundled with other things like motherboards. Newegg used to bundle Gigabyte GPUs with Gigabyte's exploding PSUs. That got them into big troubles. No one seems to be able to buy any video cards from Amazon. The only way to do it is to use bots which are hated by everyone, and even bots can't guarantee to get you a GPU. Microcenter doesn't sell GPUs online. The only way to buy them is to line up in front of your local Microcenter store. They seem to restock once a week, so good luck with that. Even if you ever manage to find one at your local PC store, it is most likely marked up by a couple hundred dollars. So currently the easiest way to get you a GPU is to buy a used GPU from a scalper or a new GPU also from a scalper.

Sometimes I am forced to run at 800x600 if necessary since the writing in games... OYE! It can get so small at higher resolutions that it hurts my eyes to look at even at sometimes even with my glasses on. Anyone else go through this??? Yes I ran ME1-ME3 At 1024x768 or lower. It is also a rule I have: Always have a backup that works -even if antiquated. I do already have a Vega 56, 1050ti, 970, RX550, 9800GT if need be. So if i am antiquated it doesn't bother me. Since you play games at 800x600 and 1024x768, it doesn't sound like you're in the market for a new GPU anyway. That Vega 56 is plenty for those resolutions. Haha.

I am in need of a GPU to push a 4K desktop though... Remember my Desktop needs more Icons but more desktop space to not be cluttered. While also using it to encode video.
Actually I run at 1600x900 medium detail mainly. The 800x600 is for games like the original Starcraft. Though I am not below running 640x480 for the original Red Alert. 1024x768 is for games like ME1 and DA:O
Though most like greater detail for games the delay on load times does get to me. Load time of 20 seconds or less is always preferred -I will compromise graphic detail over performance. And since load time is quicker with lower graphics settings -I deem it acceptable.
And since SSD's still exceed cost to performance for me it means that at 1600x900 at medium detail. Is still faster with a 2000 series or 3xxx or 4xxx series than those others but I am not above using what is necessary or antiquated.

I know Vega 56, GTX 1050 Ti, RX 550, and GTX 970 should support 4K desktop resolution over HDMI at least. I wouldn't recommend gaming at 4K with those cards, but they should all support 4K through HDMI and/or Displayport. However, a new GPU and especially a GeForce 30-series GPU would be a great help to accelerate video encoding especially on Adobe Premiere Pro. Video editing performance is one of the main reasons to get a GeForce 30-series GPU over a Radeon RX 6000-series GPU, but in today's market you just have to take whatever you can get. Still, you sound like you aren't in a hurry to upgrade. So all I can say is good luck on your search.

Right now its a budget 5.1 sound system that works with that cheap DAC of mine. Unless you know of better that is motherboard USB to front, back, surround, subwoofer audio jacks?
Then a desk -current one is old and rotting.
Next up is the returned 5800 for a 5900.
The 970 can do it:
But your FPS will not make 60 FPS unless you probably go low settings...
Not a problem for me. Still seeing all of them still on the list here gives me hope: Apparently ISP doing maintenance or updating hardware said expect internet outage for three day weekend. You actually bought a 5800X? Yes bought it but they never sent it -so managed a refund and now looking at the 5900. Well there are three PC's technically here but a two-in-one so to be... I built it for community use and also as storage -internet locked to YT only -all browsers removed.
And since you ASKED: My current system: Basic Case -with mesh side panel and front -laying on motherboard side. Closest example I can find but its not laying down:
Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ CPU: AMD FX-8370 Black Edition CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 -4 fan Noctua 120mm mod.
Memory: 24 GB Kingston HyperX Savage 1600MHz DDR3 (2x4 2x8) Hard Drives: 6 WD Black Drives: 2TB ,2TB, 2TB, 2TB, 4T, 1 TB Monitor: ASUS VS247H-P Keyboard: DBPOWER Gaming Keyboard

Mouse: T7 Wired Gaming Mouse
Sound: That Vantec USB DAC. USB addon: SABRENT 7 Port USB 3.0 HUB + 2 Charging Ports
Speakers: Logitech Z506 Headphones -no headphones PSU: Antec High Current Gamer HCG-900, 80 PLUS BRONZE
Desk sorta like this but with rotting legs -hurricane flood runoff two years ago I think... GPU: Zotac Omega Edition 970
Future and present build in the planning:
Case: Rosewill Gaming ATX Full Tower Computer Case Cases Thor V2 Black
Motherboard: GIGABYTE B550 AORUS PROCPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 -4 NF-F12 iPPC 3000 PWM fan mod.Memory: 48 GB TEAMGROUP T-Force Vulcan Z DDR4 3600MHz (PC4-28800) CL18 (2x16 2x8)Hard Drives: 6 Seagate Exos Drives: 2TB ,4TB, 4TB, 4TB, 8TB, 4TBMonitor: LG 27GL83A-B -Think its wrong for 4k but 2k still give me more than adequate desk-space. Keyboard: IOGEAR HVER Pro RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard-Red SwitchBronaGrand 2 Pack Clear: Desktop Computer Keyboard Protection Skin Protector Cover for PC
Mouse: IOGEAR Kaliber Gaming FOKUS II or T7 Wired Gaming Mouse -depending on feel. Sound: That Vantec USB DAC. SABRENT 7 Port USB 3.0 HUB + 2 Charging Ports
Speakers: TBFO -the Z506 is dying so need another 5.1/7.1 that fits that DAC.
Headphones: PSU: Seasonic PRIME 1300 Gold SSR-1300GD 1300W 80+ Gold
ATX12V & EPS12V Full Modular 135mm FDB Fan Power On Self Tester Power Supply

My current PC specs are antiquated. Don't you mean for the one I am building or just the part on the USB audio thing? You can post both your current PC and what you're planning on building. Start with the PC case, monitor, speakers, CPU, motherboard, etc. Next up is the returned 5800 for a 5900.
You actually bought a 5800X? And just for the bonus: The community one:
Case: No real case just something like this:
Just replace the acrylic with metal. -Got tired of them messing it up -So built a case that no one could get into -myself included -Have to get scissors and metal cutters if need too.
Motherboard: ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0 CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU Cooler: Vetroo V5 White CPU Air Cooler -2x3500RPM Coolerguys 120mm High Airflow.
Memory: 16 GB TEAMGROUP Elite Plus DDR4 2400MHz Hard Drive: 4 HP/Seagate Constellation ES.3 4TB
Monitor: ASUS VE198T 19" WXGA+ Keyboard: DBPOWER Gaming Keyboard Mouse: Etekcity Scroll X1
Sound: That Vantec USB DAC.
Speakers: Cyber Acoustics CA-2014 multimedia desktop computer speakers
Headphones -basic $10 headphones -nothing fancy. PSU: Antec High Current Gamer HCG-900, 80 PLUS BRONZE GPU: MSI Nvidia 1050 TI 4GB LP Desk: Just when you thought I wasn't all that bad I go a destroy your day sorry.

Basic Case -with mesh side panel and front -laying on motherboard side. Closest example I can find but its not laying down:
What kind of all mesh case is that and who made it? I'm really interested. A lot of new PC cases are basically just mesh cages like that. So unless it's in a rough shape, I'd definitely try to keep the case and reuse it in a different project. Monitor: LG 27GL83A-B -Think its wrong for 4k but 2k still give me more than adequate desk-space. I have a very similar monitor. Mine is the LG 27GL850-B. It is basically the same IPS monitor with USB ports and wide color gamut. They both support G-Sync and Freesync. If you can pick one of them up for cheap, definitely do it. They are not 4K but they do support 144hz @ 1440p (2K or 2560x1440). The difference between 144hz/144FPS and 60hz/60FPS will blow your mind. Once you've tried gaming with a high refresh rate monitor, you can't really go back to your 60hz monitors. I still recommend trying out the onboard audio on the B550 Aorus Pro when you finish your new build, because odds are it is better than the CM6206 in that Vantec. As for the speakers, I don't really know what 5.1 system to recommend. Personally, I'm still using my Logitech Z-5500 5.1 system that I bought from Dell for $180 almost 15 years ago.

Just when you thought I wasn't all that bad I go a destroy your day sorry. I have no idea what you mean by that, but instead of a "community" PC, you should look into building a home theater PC. I have a PC hooked up to my living room TV and 7.1 home theater speakers through a receiver. I use it to watch movies, anime, YouTube, Netflix, and I can even play games on it. I actually use it a lot more than my gaming PC in the bedroom. Now that new TVs like the LG C1 OLED can do 120hz and 4K via HDMI 2.1 and support G-Sync on top of that, it has never been a better time to build a home theater PC for your living room. I'm even contemplating replacing my gaming monitor with an LG OLED TV instead. I really hope that Windows 11 brings better HDR support because HDR on Windows 10 is a pretty much a joke.

I took a regular $30 computer case removed the side and front panel. I then wrapped those sides in screen door mesh that I then duck tapped to the case. I then zip-tied my fans to it.
Talk about no fan vibration. I don't know the name of the case pictured but was as close to mine as I could find.

As denoted by the green I have acquired the monitor already. The IPS 144 was the reason -the only true upgrade possible. Most of my current gaming is seeing 120FPS at 60 Hz -probably do to low resolutions. Seeing as audio and video editing and encoding and gaming primary usages.

Still not a fan of on board audio -every time I use it something ends up going wrong... Be it sound ports or mic port burns out... A BSOD anytime trying to use a program that favors the OB-A -due to burned out port or a bad port.
Or it just plain killing my MB. Its just burned me one to many times... Its a risk I don't want to put my shiny dandy new $250 motherboard into...
What?
That is the price I got it for I believe.

I also got a redirection to the Logitech Z906 5.1 -which I guess is my best choice. Unless -removing the Vantec and replacing it with an another USB Dac that has Front, Center, back and subwoofer:

In this area there is not many PC's -shocking I know but there just isn't. Its a small community so if someone has an event or something I rent it out to local community center -if they want.
Otherwise its the computer in this home that the rest of the home community use.
If they dare mess with my daily driver however...
Home Theater PC are something I may look into in the future but want to get my current ducks in a row and running and swimming fluidly.
