I don't have any site hosting accounts like imgur, but would like you all to see my build Take the picture, open imgur.com, disagree with all tracking, click new post and copy/paste or browse and drag'n'drop image from your computer into imgur. Once its uploaded (it'll say) you can right click on top of the image and click 'view image'. Now this image opens up and you want copy the url now. It is something like "https://i.imgur.com/xyz123.jpg" - then make a post, click image icon, paste that same url into the requester shown. Post, voila. Hope this helps

I don't have any site hosting accounts like imgur, but would like you all to see my build Unfortunately we don't have any image-hosting ability with ProBoards, so the only recourse is a 3rd party image hosting site like you said. Aside from imgur, I also like IMGBOX. These instructions might work for accessing an image from GOOGLE DRIVE, but I haven't tested this: You can link to Google Drive images (NOT Google Photos unfortunately), it just takes some work.
1. The photo must be in Google Drive NOT Google Photos for this to work. Maybe created a folder in your Drive specifically for images to uploaded here. 2. Create your post or comment and click the insert image button. 3. Add whatever label you want. 4. In the "Image URL" field paste in: http://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id= 5. Open a new tab and go to your Google Drive and find the image you want. 6. Change the sharing permissions to "Anyone with the link". 7. Right-click on the image, select "Get Shareable Link" and copy the image id from the end of the url it gives you. The image id is a random string of numbers and letters at the end of the url. 8. Paste the image id into the "Image URL" field on your original browser tab (where you have the forum open) after the = sign of the code in step 4 and click the "Insert Image" button.

You can upload your pictures as hidden so they won’t be displayed to strangers on the site but they will appear if you link them somewhere.

Would this be for Linux or Windows? I'm not an audio guy, but it has been my understanding, that Win10 is particularly crappy for audio builds? Other than that it is a nifty heavy duty workstation. Weeelll... lets put it this way: most of the worlds music is gone through either Windows or a mac So no its not particularly crappy at all, I would not touch linux yet for pro audio at all too. Win10 has numerous things done for audioside that Win8 and 7 dont have, but it has the dreaded windows update which is crappy though I'm running Win7 atm. on this 2013 machine. Can run 1,5ms latencies if needed easily with high track count (for this CPU). I expect to have same on new but much much more fx & tracks until I even hit 60% CPU. Just a quick question concerning latencies. Does a using a USB 5.1 Audio Hub OVER a sound card or Windows default audio devices on the motherboard increase or decrease latencies?

Like I said, I'm not an audio guy, but when I see a workstation like that, I start thinking all the Linux applications. Yeah, I know about Fruity Loops and DAWs, but I've never built one or done any music. But I heard some whispers that the migration from Win7 to Win10 didn't go all that well for the music guys. And latencies are all networking to me...
Windows 7 was a fantastic OS, the best Windows so far.
Windows 7 and Windows XP. As to migration from 7 to 10 it went easier for me than most audio guys... I opened up the systems connected my Sata drives from the old system. Then transfered my desktop files from Windows 7 to 10 and got the modifications of the registry finally done.
Though I will admit it was time consuming transferring nearly 8 TB of data from one OS to another. Especially finally getting Windows Update BLOCKED!
Yet with it done it now functions as its supposed too. Sometimes with HEAVY modifications Windows 10 can function like Windows 7... hopefully.
Also I thought Fruity Loops was antiquated and out of date now days... is that not so?

Moving from win7 to win10 means full start from 0 for me at least, I mean install everything again and authorize. Also I have to change audiocard as its PCI.. no win10 drivers either. So no upgrade path is possible for me, and would not do it anyway, too much moving parts etc. Most audio people I know stay with same OS setup for years and years. Usually the update comes necessary if hardware breaks up or CPU just doesnt keep up anymore with new plugins and amount of tracks needed. Don't know if this sound card is any better: Agreed though about OS updating. I stayed with Windows 7 till 2018. Some of my audio editing programs got updated so far the Windows 7 no longer supported. I however am lucky since I know how to to modify registry, transfer files and take command of my OS. Though for some reason right now my Desktop is blank: OH WINDOWS 10 HOW I HATE YOU!

Yes.
I agree German engineering would definitely be a step in the right direction. There is another company that beats it right now in my mind though.
The Austrian company of Noctua and their A12x25 -which has a 150,000 hr MTBF. Something to do with SSO2 bearing system but I think this is some fancy type of fluid dynamic bearing.
200k MTBF would definitely get my attention. I am all about longevity when it comes to hardware components. If I build a computer I want all the hardware to run without replacing till the PSU dies.
Current CPU fans have been running since I built this computer 5 years ago. Those fans are Noctua NF-12's: Oh yes, Noctua is top notch. I have a similar Noctua tower in my rig. Very quiet and runs cool. You can get good stuff made in made in China, but your QA/QC has to be up to the task.
Funny you should mention the PSU; it is always the first component to go in my builds! This is probably because 3D games stress the PSU a lot. A temperature rise of 20 degrees may halve the MTBF of a PSU. And the temperature rise may well be 40 degrees under constant load. Hence I overkill the wattage, but it only gets you so far, as I burn through PSUs pretty quickly. Yes the PSU is an absolute component not to ever skimp on. Most say you don't need much wattage above what your system uses. I however disagree with this -IF building for a longevity system: If your system at max load uses 550w and your PSU is a good 750w then in my opinion would last about 2 years. If the PSU is bad quality then maybe it doesn't even make a year.
The reason is simple: PSU watt degradation. I go off past experience of seeing about 50w to 100w of degradation per year.
With this philosophy I often go with a PSU that is double the total system wattage usage. That would mean a 1000w good PSU for a 550w system would allow 100w degradation and still last at lest 5 years. Good info on top of this:
I have built three systems in the last 10 years and all are still running on their first PSU: 1st: 10 years and running. system 360w PSU 750w 2nd: 7 years and running. system 450w PSU 900w 3rd : 5 years and running. system 535w PSU 900w
That said how much head room do you give your PSU?

No need for account, though then the picture lifetime will be less... it seems its about year or so, maybe more. could it be less if I choose to remove it after, say a month or so? Don't want an account at image websites? I know how you feel. And.... I have a solution for you: Just save the image on your desktop as .JPG Go to:
Click start uploading. Browse to file and select it and click open. Chose the method you want. Then pick upload. Will go to next page saying upload complete. Select the embed code option to viewer links Copy the link and post in new tab or new webpage
Once it loads then right click on the image and select to view image. Should open the image in a page all by itself. Take note of the webpage address.
Just copy THIS address and use the insert image in the create post part here on BSN. Hope it works.

You mean USB audiocard with 5.1 output? Basically you'll be still using the same audio output, usually Direct Sound I think, which has latencies between 20 to 40ms usually. Now even though my card can put up very low latencies, thats not what it does when gaming, because its using Direct Sound. If the game would support ASIO ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_Stream_Input/Output ) then you would have super low latency. In the end the super low latencies only matter for musicians as the input from midi keyboard to computer and computer processing time is now very low. If you are a drummer, you'll start to notice it heavily around 10+ms. I usually use less CPU and more latency, around 6 ms when composing music. So basically until games support fast audio paths, there should be basically no difference between audiocards as they use same audio path inside Windows. I'm using this pro card for games too

Don't know if this sound card is any better: Better than rme-audio.com/hdspe-aio-pro.html ? Nope. Better than my current from 2001? Yeah could be, but for me its all about ASIO drivers in audio production as they are the only ones offering stable low latency in/out. Usually Creative etc. have either none ASIO or then its shoddy implementation and not for pro audio usage.

I guess it comes down to which type of music production is being done. I mainly mess in the electronic field now days so not really dealing with externals anymore so I guess I am indeed out of date. Just a quick question concerning latencies. Does a using a USB 5.1 Audio Hub OVER a sound card or Windows default audio devices on the motherboard increase or decrease latencies?
I'm using this pro card for games too Actually 7.1 Surround Sound:
So there would be no difference between the card I linked and this USB Audio device?

So there would be no difference between the card I linked and this USB Audio device? Well it comes down to if you use inputs or not. You'll still need ASIO capable (and drivers) audiocard for the latencies under 20ms. What I mean is when you hit key on your midi keyboard or controller, the time to output the sound takes N ms. You can produce music with normal soundcards without ASIO too, but you'll just have longer latency. I havent had external devices like synths since 2001 I sold them all away. There would not be difference in latencies I guess, there would be some measurable difference in audiopath I guess too In normal use the 20ms latency is ok, in composing one doesnt want to hear the sound later than you've pressed the key.

could it be less if I choose to remove it after, say a month or so? Not actually sure if one can remove it afterwards, havent tried, without account as I dont use accounts if not necessary. It is indeed a shame the number of sites that demand accounts. Glad imgbb.com/ is among those that still have it optional.

XP was great, but in an enterprise environment you had to jump through hoops to get everything working.
Yeah, I'm running modded Win10 as well. The Win8/10 interface was just too alien to me.
My knowledge of FL is from years back, so it probably is antiquated by now.

XP was horrible when it came, remember pre SP1? Yeaah... that was super broken. We waited until SP2, all machines were W2k SP4. Thankfully Win10 updater can be now blocked for good with Sledgehammer.
I (we) are using Ableton Live for all audio processing.

And it may have been my already customized setup then but the OS was very unstable with it.
Those hoops and hurdles though for me was part of the fun... I know most don't find debugging fun but I did. Plus a hammer was always by my side....

I (we) are using Ableton Live for all audio processing. I know it was. I refer to XP in its final state. Never ever give me XP with anything less than SP3 or a Frisbee you will be riding on into the clouds! Also Windows 10 can be blocked without the need of a sledgehammer. Can't say I have used Ableton Live but I have used Steinberg Cubase, FL Studio and Acid Pro Before MAGIX acquisition. All in conjunction with one another as well as splicing in Creative Wave Studio and Creative Audacity for so fine tuning when needed. And no I am not below having 5 versions of a single track for use to be copied and split among separate programs.
