Hey looking at getting a 2560x1440 monitor, is AOC a good brand? This is the model number I am looking at Q27G2S 27' on Amazon Australia for $389 AUD not many left, 5. Here is RTINGS' review for the CQ27G2. www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/aoc/cq27g2 Thanks will strike that one off the list.

Hey looking at getting a 2560x1440 monitor, is AOC a good brand? This is the model number I am looking at Q27G2S 27' on Amazon Australia for $389 AUD not many left, 5. AOC has some good monitors but hardly anything that is 27 inch that is not curved -let alone 1440p. If that is what you want: A good Monitor that is not curved, 27 inch, 1440p, IPS and has a 1ms response time... I would probably suggest the LG 27GL850-B or the $50 cheaper version of it the LG 27GL83A-B. www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/lg/27gl850-b-27gl83a-bFor the full run down the differences between them check this analysis: PRIORTIY EDIT: JUST MANAGED TO GET NEWEGG TO show me Australia prices... The LG 27GL850-B isn't available in Newegg Australia The LG27GL83A-B is the only one available in your region for $500.50 AUD on Newegg Australia.
Prices on amazon put them $290 and $380 respectively with about $120 added for shipping to Australia. www.amazon.com/LG-27GL83A-B-Ultragear-Compatible-Monitor/dp/B07YGZL8XF/www.amazon.com/LG-27GP850-B-Ultragear-Compatible-Adjustable/dp/B093MTSTKD/So that is around $415 and $502 respectively again. Not the best prices I grant you but still better than $390 for that one AOC bad monitor line.

Sigh. I mean put the GPU in PCIe slot #1. Put the riser in slot #2 and connect something like the below to the riser. You don't understand. There is no room at all to access those PCIe slots. The GPU heatsink completely touches the PCIe slots. The only slot left is the very bottom one and that's for the sound card. Lian Li have a prototype case that can mount the GPU on the front intake of the case. But I'll just do this instead. It's easier and a more elegant solution. I just need a motherboard with as many M.2 slots as I can get. Well... It took what 35 years for them to come up with this that I basically did in my head... I should have worked for them. The only thing they still need to do though is make the front and other side panel mesh instead of the motherboard side. Otherwise looks like a very good case.

I just need a motherboard with as many M.2 slots as I can get. The only Ryzen boards that even have four M.2 slots are: MSI MEG X570S ACE MAX ATX AM4 MSI MPG X570S CARBON MAX WIFI ATX AM4 Gigabyte X570S AERO G ATX AM4 Gigabyte X570S AORUS MASTER ATX AM4 This one supposedly has FIVE M.2 slots: Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Extreme EATX AM4 However the MSI MEG X570S UNIFY-X MAX ATX AM4 claims to have SIX M.2 slots. I can't say you would get full speed on all of those though and the price is way too much in my opinion.

So the next build will be based on the Zen 5 aka Ryzen 8000/9000 series. Maybe a Ryzen 9 9950X3D? Anyway, the focus is PCIe 5.0 or even 6.0. That'll provide enough bandwidth for those NVMe SSDs. As far as I know, the X570's upgrade path had already ended when AMD released the Zen 3. So I'm done upgrading my current PC and looking forward to the future instead.

Prefers a budget of 350 to 400? Just doesn't want to spend money ATM, not 100% sure why got some decent size bills coming up so that's probably it plus my son is being deployed full time to another state in Australia for 6 months so she probably wants to save for a holiday there.

I understand. Thinking ahead and budgeting is a good thing. I did that in college too... then my monitor died and forked out $400 on a replacement monitor -the rest they had were trash I spent the next two months living on $40-50 a week for food. Didn't believe nor trust online buying back then. Its amazing how much something can change in twenty five years. All I can advise is start picking and saving where you can -maybe the initiative will have them say if you can do that then lets go for it. Personally if I need to save I first cut my food intake a bit. Make one meal last all day for instance.

We can afford it I think having just bought a new PC she is being a bit "Hey you just spent almost $3,000 AUD on a PC" so no to the monitor. The new PC and DSR are making me want to just have that resolution without having to make the GPU work so hard. It can handle it, Temp isn't getting over 80c (bounces between 50c and 80c in game) and the CPU is sitting between 50 to 60c but I am used to my PC being mostly silent. I adjusted the fan curve and that has helped as the fan noise was really annoying me.

The new PC and DSR are making me want to just have that resolution without having to make the GPU work so hard. You realize the PC will work almost as much with the new monitor too? 😜 Right now it's at 1620p load with DLDSR, while the new monitor will be loaded with native resolution at 1440p. A bit less work, sure, but not a lot less (but ofc it will be a better image). And if you use DLDSR again, either at 1.78x or 2.25x, the load will be waaaaay higher again 😁 But that should be saved for DLSS games at that point.

I have left it in the wife's court, she often says no then after a while she'll out of the blue say go for it. She'll benefit to by getting my old monitor which is much bigger and better than her work monitor she has at home.

Unless she says that she is fine with what she has and it works fine as is. 10-1 if she does let you get another monitor and doesn't want to use yours and says to put it in storage for incase your new one fails. She is of a frugal mindset. A rarity these days I would assume. I am frugal myself so I understand this view point. Sometimes doing it her way when the bill estimate is over the actual bills then you get some free cash otherwise... save save save. This most likely is what she is doing and once disposable cash is at hand -go for it.

Technically the GPU works easier at lower resolutions. Its not just about temperatures that indicate how hard a GPU is working. Its the utilization bottleneck and if that bottleneck is also spiking with temperature then you got a problem.

It is rarely hitting 100% usage at the settings I have it now, usually max 90% and mostly around 70% to 90% but sometimes drops to 50% if that is what you mean by utilisation.

Yeah I thought as much, I just want the pretty, shiny picture. I promised myself I wouldn't try and push it too high. If she doesn't want it my son will gladly take it, if he wasn't going away for work for 6 months I'd get him to buy it off me and then just pay the difference for the new one.

Sigh. Well it happened. AC went out in part of this building. Window Units. Tried to fix but its to old or doesn't want to be fixed. Went to get another on Amazon and noticed weird order that I didn't place. I don't live in Singapore. Started legal action by canceling debit card. Now I got to wait 48 hours for new card and order an AC unit.

Good thing is you canceled your card and called your credit company right away; companies like VISA, Mastercard are (in my experience) really good about canceling your card and sending out a new one with no trouble. Hopefully your next order will be legit and go through with no issues....because this summer heat is insane.

I do have solace in knowing that I spotted it the day it happened. Though I cut the middle man out and went straight to the bank instead of calling the companies. My bank even gave me new card on spot but activation takes 48 hours.

Checked online bank statement today... seems canceled but I will reserve judgement till I get the phone verification that they said they were going to do.
