I wonder what is that other part that he was afraid we will find. The coat has the paragon and renegade symbol. Maybe he's referring to shepard or someone else? Or maybe something inside the poster we haven't found yet

Love the N7 coat, the helmet not so much. IMHO it feels like something Sara Ryder would wear and not Female Shepard.

Maybe we'll be able to play as both Shepard and Ryder and this figure is a representation of both? I mean, I don't know how that would work timeline-wise, but I do kind of see elements of both characters (and Liara lol).

The drinks the npc's have are blue and red, strongly hinting at paragon/renegade. Also the asari with the angara looks to be liara. The geth beside her could be the one we heard last year.

I have to say that the character's design in the trailer reminds me of the N7 Shadow character from ME3's multiplayer.

ME5 is in the pre-production phase, imo, as Alpha has yet to be announced. Video teaser clips is a way for Bio to tell us "hey, we are working on it" and to test reactions nothing more, at this time. Of course some folks are excited to see something but I guess I've become jaded over time. The latest teaser is absolutely non informative regarding ME5 and is put out to appease the N7 fandom.
Pre-Production
Pre-Production, imo, consists of:
1. what is your target audience? Key gameplay mechanics?
Here, the target demographic tells the game designers how to mold the game system to fit the player audience. The major game play mechanic is what the designers bank on. This is the area that players will enjoy themselves.... well makes sense to me.
2. Is there a market?
EA as the publisher won't divvy out money without a marketing test. Hence the ads and teasers. ME has a history but still...
3. Prototyping
Basic prototypes of game play features are created, tested, discarded or kept. prototypes answer questions, like:
a- are the chars appealing? b- is a mechanic or level fun? c- is one level worse than others? d- which colour scheme / Ui work best?
4. Asset creation
Game assets like armour, weapons, treasures, buildings, animals, flora, terrain, etc. are created
5. Pipelines and the Team
A project has to have a boss, leaders and worker bees. Identify them and give them responsibilities. Task pipelines are there to keep everyone working productively and avoid bottlenecks ( I put management decisions here too). So, I;m talking about : Producer, game designer, developer, artists, QA.
6. Project Timeline
Ah, that pesky timeline. Pesky or not, it hast to be set and everyone should be on board.
Remember EA financials only listed games that are scheduled to launch up to April 2024. ME5 and DA4 not among them. So, to me it means no ME5 or DA4 trailer in the TGAs or in N7 day.

I think it is interesting BioWare poses these questions in the blog saying "there are answers", so it seems we will find out one way or another in the next game.
1. What happened to everyone you know and love in the games? My guess is Liara will answer a lot of these questions or we find out through codex entries
2. Who really died? This makes me think they are going to bring back one or more characters that could have died in our worldstates. Could refer to Shepard, various companions, or other NPCs.
3. Who had kids with whom? Again, we find out either through Liara or codex entries. Maybe a hint we will meet children of past characters.
4. What does a baby volus sound like? Obviously, the most important of these questions. BioWare better deliver!
5. What about all the galaxies? Seems almost certain we will have both Milky Way and Andromeda in some capacity
6. The endings This will be super interesting to see how they handle, but I suppose jumping hundreds of years into the future can allow them to handwave quite a bit
7. What the heck is going on with our asari scientist-turned-Shadowbroker? Seems like she is going to have a pretty big role and a new title (possibly N7?)
8. What about S— Teasing Shepard here which does make me wonder if they will return in some way. Or at least we will learn from Liara what happened based on our ending choice. I do worry that BioWare teasing Shepard could lead to disappointment from some of the fandom if they don't return at all though.

I’m all but certain we’re getting a new protagonist. Andromeda’s plots may be addressed, but I think we’re diverging from Andromeda’s tone and focus sufficiently that a Ryder sequel seems unlikely. As for Shepard, well, I think Shepard is going to be left in the past.
This is supposed to be the start of new era for the franchise.

I do worry that BioWare teasing Shepard could lead to disappointment from some of the fandom if they don't return at all though. With all the teases, going all the way back to the original trailer I doubt they'd exclude Shepard completely. Although if they do then I think "disappointment" will be putting it mildly. A certain element of the fanbase would go nuclear. BW must know that so I'd be surprised if that were the case.

This is supposed to be the start of new era for the franchise. Unless this game is successful then it's probably the end of the franchise. Shepard is a near-certain success factor. They'll be involved in some capacity, albeit not the main protagonist. IMO.

Michael Gamble @gamblemike@parrish_ley they still havent found the other part. the one i was afraid of them finding. whew. Hmmm. It shows what looks to be a lounge on the Citadel with people dressed up for some event. Is it a reference to the Citadel dlc? maybe., as for me as long as the content of high quality, the aesthetic reference to Citadel DLC is a non issue

According to this transcript at below link, Jeff Grubb is suggesting 2029 release for the next ME. That just seems absurd, right? felassan.tumblr.com/post/733439866664321024/on-game-mess-mornings-just-now-jeff-grubb-andGrubb: “You want some original reporting? This game is just nowhere near coming out. This is not, this, I was told, like, so, when they announced, when they, like, revealed Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2018, this is similar in terms of timeline, where that was announced in 2018, and we’re not getting that game til maybe next year. So now do the math for that, and we’re talking 2029 for Mass Effect 5.”

Wasn't it said that a not-insignificant portion of the ME team was shifted to work on Dreadwolf?
Any potential work on ME could likely not see as much progress until Dreadwolf's out the door, which could feasibly delay things. Hence the estimate.
Yeah, it sucks ass, but it's just the way of things.

That being said it's entirely possible. Remember Bioware are a small studio now, smaller than Larian and Bethesda who also works on games one at a time. So Bioware will start production on ME5 after Dreadwolf releases. 4.5 years for a modern triple A release? Sure, sounds reasonable.

Some of that does seem to be his speculation though. And while it's true that most of the team has moved on the trailer and n7 day celebration virtually confirms someone is still working on it. Even if it's just Mike Gamble and or senior leadership someone is keeping the chair warmed.

I say there’s a golden opportunity to bring back the Shepard VI as our new character’s personal assistant 😄 Beyond that though, I’m expecting them to mostly be referenced as a historical figure.

Piggy backing my post in the fears thread one reason I don't want to see Shepard return is it would almost necessitate the return of the paragon/ renegade morality system which I do not approve of especially after ME3 neutered it by taking away the nuance.
However, paradoxically, if they do Shepard I'd fear them not doing paragon/ renegade because of the importance to the character. Which is a segue to the danger/fear of bringing back Shepard which may look like the easy win choice...could you imagine the howling from the fandom if they mess up *their* Shrpards? If they *Ryderfy* them? If they take away their binary morality and defang their ability,to be charitable, of being a bad ass?

Paragon/Renegade is almost certainly coming back, but I agree that it should be much more nuanced. ME3 dumbed it down horribly.

If they're bringing back the red/blue dialogue, I like to see more, make that a lot more, interrupts. ME3 was lacking those.
