With all the teasing since the first reveal, Andromeda better be a big part of MENext... do not play with my emotions!
We will get exactly one minor side quest that vaguely mentions it in a broad sense. The bare minimum for them to say they connected it so “didn’t abandon the MEA fans”.

I don't have a problem with that.

Nothing cool like taking over a Cerberus ARK right? I mean they built a better Normandy in secret, brought shepard back from the dead, and have huge space stations all over the galaxy with a huge private military by the beginning of ME3. It would not be a stretch for them to have built an ARK for themselves too.

ME2 and ME3 could just be Ryders nightmare while she/he explores more of the Andromeda galaxy, beyond the Heleus cluster

It wouldn't be a nightmare. It would be Ryder having a dream wanting to be like Shepard. Having a ship that has weapons. Having the choice to choose squadmates for the roster. Choosing who lives or dies. Having the Honorable Mr. Rupert Gardner, the greatest chef in the universe, cook for them. Being able to push someone out the window to their death. Watching a cheerleader pick up an asari then throw her across the screen. Being able to fight a reaper face-to-face. Have a bottle shooting contest to make sure the bottles don't rebel. Fighting a villain who has the best hairstyle. Having a prothean on the roster.

Nothing has made much sense since ME1 so they might as well have dark energy or the Scourge accelerate the speed at which the galaxies are converging and they can combine them in the next game. Or maybe close enough to make travel significantly faster. If you're going to steer away from hard scifi, go all the way.

I'd argue most of the ME trilogy made a decent amount of sense. I can't speak on the trilogy's attention to the laws of physics or anything like that but to my untrained eye it made sense.
Still, can't we use space magic to do...cool things instead? Not whatever this is.

Well, I suppose it depends on what a decent amount is exactly. I have enjoyed all four games once I stopped asking questions about the numerous flaws in logic and odd turns of the story and dialog and started creating my own headcanon where I pretty much ignore what I'm actually seeing on the screen. It's not just that the universe doesn't follow the laws of physics, I can live with that just fine. I just want internal consistency and you can't find that if you look closer. And it's frustrating to have to force yourself to not look closely when it's my nature to delve deep into the lore and analyse the dialog in detail. Especially Andromeda was so shallow an uninspired in its lore and story that it was immensely frustrating because visually it is stunning and the game play is a lot of fun, and there are enough small moments of quality that make you yearn for more and realise just how lacking the rest of it is.

I’d be just fine if the next game totally ignored MEA. I can’t even remember the number of times I’ve played the trilogy. MEA, I completed once, started a replay, got 30 minutes in and have never been back to since.
I liked the concept but the execution was appalling. The gameplay was far too repetitive, and I cared little for the characters. Neither of which lent themselves well to making me want to play the game again.
The trilogy had its faults, particularly in the third game, but the more the new game is related to that and the less it’s related to MEA the better. IMO 😊

Playing my 22nd PT of MEA at present and as a huge fan of it and MET (at least 20 PT's of the trilogy) I'd be happy for just a sequel to MEA or a new ME game that links both MET and MEA.
The story is vastly superior in MET but in terms of the gameplay, exploration, visuals and combat MEA is far superior.
Dan Hindes @dhindes Honestly think one of the best pieces of functional game writing is the Codex entry in Mass Effect 2 for thermal clips. A writer had to invent a lore reason why the designers decided to adopt limited ammo and reloading in combat, over the first game's infinite ammo with cooldowns
Chris Hepler @theotherhepler Okay, I was feeling kind of down today and then I got praised for “one of the best pieces of functional game writing.” Thanks. I tried. Credit also goes to Preston W. who told stories of how fast Marines can actually reload vs how fast video gamers think they can. #MassEffect
