After sitting on this a bit, the likelihood, for me, in order:

1. Liara. I hate to say it, I don't want this kind of focus, but the shots so far, and the angle, and the idea that time has passed and N7 could further transform into something else, and even some of the musical tone... just increasingly says "Liara is back" to me. She's the one that says "human DEFIANCE". But this has only developed into my first opinion, and I have strong doubts.

2. Shepard. Or A (Fem)Shepard. I won't get into how 'A' Shepard can happen but whatever, I mean Shepard in some sense. Enough nods about Shepard have happened, including today. "What about S-" A pan towards a red striped figure as if its the start of ME1 (almost). Its one thing to be Shepard-like, but another to have little hint-seeming bits all over the place, the more you look.

3. New protag. Not impossible. Could be some kind of relation to one or both of the above. Might be a protag to be designed to be like Shepard But Da Future version, without direct baggage of Shepard.

4. Ryder. Nope. Don't see it. I think its possible we meet Ryder, much less likely they're a companion, even less likely they're the protag. And nothing in these video says Ryder to me.

Oh look a mysterious N7. Again.

What was that music? ME3?

Wow, what a lame design.

Yeah... I expected something more but they like being mysterious. They leave it open for us to think... It might be liara or a new protagonist but the helmet also looks kinda similar to ryder.

Definitely not Liara. Even when they had asari wear helmets, it was more elongated in the back to accommodate the scalp crests.

Overall this was much more than I was anticipating for N7 Day. It's been a little chaotic over at Bioware recently and they still haven't given any concrete information about Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, so the next Mass Effect is even further down the pipe line.

My guess is that this some concept work on the player character. Given how early things must still be in development it's all ambiguous enough that they can make changes later.

Like everyone else I'd always like more information on the game but I still appreciate the "hey we're still working on it." I was hoping for just another teaser style poster but this was a little more fun.

Definitely leaning more into combining the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies together. Something I'm personally not a fan of, but I understand why they would feel the need to.
