Although I mainly played as broShep, I don't think Mark Meers portrayal is bad. He portrays the tough Marine act well. Although as far as I can remember he's only showed emotion twice. One, was when Mordin got on the elevator to cure the Genophage, and the second was right after when he brings up A/K. I haven't played as femShep, but I have been watching a Let's Play featuring femShep, and from what I've seen so far she is the tough Marine that broShep is, but she has a certain softness. She reminds me of Cassandra from DAI.

A preference is fine and there is no issue with that. I'm talking about the fans who act like Meer is garbage and male Shepard is awful. I had a femshep fan call me an idiot who is insecure and cannot stand a female saving the galaxy (despite him knowing I have played femshep many times) because I like male Shepard more. From my experience, I have seen several femshep fans like this. It is fine to be a fan of something, but I dislike it when someone has to put down the opposing thing to prop up what they prefer. There were a few articles when MELE came out saying why you should play female and that male Shepard is weak or bad. Why not celebrate femshep's strong points without being negative? Then again, I have noticed this with several games where you can choose gender where the female fans tend to be like this (Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Fire Emblem Fates as examples). Those fans tend to belittle the male character despite being the same character with just a different voice. I hate it when people do that. Why start a fight when one is not needed. Yeah I've played bot hways an din fact I though tbo thMark and Jennife rbot hdid a great job wit hShepard. Whilst I'l l admit wi thDAI and MEA I prefer the female VA ove rthe male plus I felt Sara kind of me tthe role of Path finde rbetter stor ywise than Scott does with her background in the sciences. But I do think wi thShepard I think both Jen and Mar kboth did aqn equal job and tbh I feel the same wit hhawk in tha tthe 2 VA's in DA2 did a pretty equal job too whenever I play that.

I was watching this video: And it shows a scene where Garrus speaks to female Shepard about meeting up with each other in the afterlife. Not the Omega club but in Heaven, and femShep says something like "There is no Shepard without Valkarian." The way Jennifer Hale delivers that line with so much emotion is amazing. I don't remember broShep having any emotion he was always the tough marine. I always heard that Jennifer Hale performance was better than Mark Meers, but I did not know it was this good. I've been a fan of hers since she voiced Bastila in the original KOTOR. I've been a fan of Jennifer Hale since she voiced Juni Zane in Freelancer(2003) and especially since this scene. Reminds me of captain Hiroshi and major Ryan in the Babylon 5 episode Severed dreams.
Jennifer Hale is the GOAT voice actress since 2003. Pity she's so vocal about her political views. P.S. I remember being called a Jennifer Hale cult member on the official BSN.

Jennifer Hale is definitely my #1 Favourite VA. Period. Though close 2nd's are Grey Delisle and Tara Strong (Cat Woman and Harley Quinn in the Batman Arkham series, most notably.) My first exposure to Ms Hale was as Bastila Shan, and then (the female) Jaden Korr in Dark Forces: Jedi Academy, and I've been a fan of hers ever since so when I heard she was cast as Commander (Jane) Shepard, I was over the moon.

My second favorite female VA is Courtney Taylor who voiced Jack. I don't know if you ever played Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, but she voiced many npc's the most memorable is Heather Poe a human ghoul. Heather Poe is such a contrast to Jack. Whereas Jack is strong and independent, Heather is weak and completely dependent on the player, but then again she was a ghoul a human who drinks vampire blood. It show the VA's range to play different types of characters.

Good call. You what? Okay, whenever you have some extra cash to spare go to GoG.com and buy Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. It should be on sale right now and it comes with the Unofficial Patch installed. I can write so much about how great the game is but if you ever buy it I'll let you experience it yourself. It's an old game that was released back in 2004, but despite it's age the game still looks good. The unarmed and melee combat is clunky. The ranged combat is wonky, but the beauty of the game is that in the first half you can talk your way out of most fights if you have high enough Charisma. But don't neglect your combat skills. Also don't choose Malkavian as your first clan. They are insane and the story might not make sense at first. So choose one of the other seven vampire clans. Always fun to hear her in a bit of a different role (not the tough warrier kind) as Leah in Diablo 3 (yes, I actually liked the D3 SP campaign somewhat).

A lot of the VA's from the Mass Effect games also did work in Bloodlines. Like Jeff Blum, Courtney Taylor, and Grey Delisle. Here's a good retrospective video:

Yep, that's her (though technically, "Uncle Deckard" is only her guardian, not her grandfather)! I thought she was pretty recognizable in that role actually.

Oh yeah Uncle Deckard I forgot about that. As for Jennifer Hale well she fooled me in that role. I did not know it was her. But then again she is a legend.

I feel she is a bit over rated by some of her fans. What's worse is some of her fans tend to put down Meer sadly. Some of her deliveries are pretty bad and she sounds very samey in many deliveries. Her renegade tough guy also can sound really off or forced. Some of her deliveries also make her sound creepy like with Jacob. Despite this, she is still very good. There are some scenes that she knocks it out of the park and they are some of the most memorable scenes. I haven't played femshep in years and I still remember how great she sounded in the Kaiden dinner scene. She perfectly encapsulated that playful demeanor to counter act Kaidan being more serious. Or the quiet and restrained way she delivers the Thane memorial scene without crying. I vastly preffered her to mark meer in terms of commander shepard. However that isn't because Mark meer did a bad job it was because she was just so fracking good. That scene with Thane was done beautifully. As was all garrus romance stuff but I just love garrus in general so I am a bit biased in that area. Exact opposite for me, Meer nailed Sheppard far far better than she did. She was pretty good as Shepard, Meer nailed it.

I like both equally, and both VAs deliver various lines very differently or even different lines all together with equal amounts of beauty. However, as I have always leaned towards romancing Jack.....More often than not, I have played as John Shepard. On the rare occasion that I play as FemShep (aka "Bobbie")....I have always romanced either Traynor or Kaiden.
