I always answer my phone if I can manage it. If it's someone I don't want to talk to, I'm just rude enough to tell them and finish. If I haven't time to talk, I'm just rude enough to tell them, and either ask them to call later, or tell them I'll call later. Particularly if it's some kind of random seller, I suggest they leave me their private number and then I'll call them "later" ![](//storage.proboards.com/6576594/images/vm0LdmaZNliQuiOl0pxw.png) . Never had anyone take me up on that offer though. Strange, isn't it? ![:yas:](//storage.proboards.com/6576594/images/gKZRdVgBgOkaWQrogvsl.png) It's almost like they don't want a stranger to suddenly call them and waste their time? Do you treasure old fashioned printed paper books?

No, I fight and defend against it. I am a servant of the Light side; even a Dark Lord of the Sith cowers before my drum and sticks.
When I am at peace my sticks glow yellow.

But when it's hot, I can only take off so much gear before the neighbors call the cops.

I used to go stargazing late at night. Especially in the summer on warm nights, I would go for walks as late as Midnight or 1 a.m. and spend an hour or two just walking the neighborhood looking at all the different constellations.
But now with my Menieres and the symptoms associated with it, I can't look up. I can't tilt my neck or head without getting super dizzy. So sadly, my star gazing nights are done.

"...that you've never heard of anyone else having" ?
Feels like I gotta have some of those. And I probably do. Coming up with a good example though... 🤔 ...You know, I think I'm maybe mostly the opposite type of person. I'm not touched by many things that disturb others. Like forks scratching plates, nails on blackboards...
- I think I have something: Lit candles. I don't like that. ...I also don't like dimmed lighting. ...Or "warm" light. Don't really hear much (original, as in not supportive) complaints about such things except from myself.

I most certainly do, and we have all kinds; travelling types, addicts, smash-and-grabs and professionals. And I understand enough about locks and security to know, that a determined thief will always get in.
On that note: Do you use a maximum security bike lock?

i use a pretty standard U type bike lock (https://www.decathlon.fr/p/antivol-velo-u-500/_/R-p-119937?mc=8342034&c=GRIS). It looks like secure, but i guess it s quite easy to open for a determined thief... And now i m worried, cause i m using a pretty expensive bike which is not even mine ( ![:D](//storage2.proboards.com/6576594/images/elVHKRxPverbDpfdrrFs.png) ), it s my father-in-law one ... I havent been robbed a bike for years though, but i m increasing the loot prize lately... Well, with all those fancy and even more expensive electric bikes laying everywhere i might be quite safe. Do you get robbed at times ?

My mother has been robbed once, at the door at her home. As she fiddled with her keys, two (probably illegal) immigrant men attacked her and violently ripped away her bag and purse. They also took her rings, but not her watch. Maybe she had her cheap watch that day. I don't know.
I have not been robbed, but there was at least one, maybe two, attempted robberies.
I occasionally worked in a convenience store when I was young. A miserable, drug addicted small time criminal tried to rob the store. I was young, had still not learned to not fight people who have a knife (very stupid, just don't). I got 'black-mist' angry. He seemed to have gotten a shock when I raced out from behind the counter and attacked him. I was extremely fit, having done my first stint in the army. I grappled and got a very good grip on his arms. The knife was never a problem. I had an iron grip around that hand. I don't think he was even seriously prepared to use it. Compared to me, he appeared to have no strength at all. I even managed to lock both his arms with one, while I rummaged his pockets with my other hand. He tried to kick and stomp. I told him I could hurt him much more than he could hurt me. After that he calmed down. He even cried. If I could have had any amount of sympathy for him, that was blown away by his angry rhetoric: "I was to get something for my girlfriend. Now everything is ruined and it's your fault." I couldn't both hold on to him and call the police. I shut the automatic doors, but unless they were locked they could be forced open. So he slipped out while I made the call. They picked him up almost immediately anyway, seemed to know who he was.
Years later, there was this incident on a dark parking lot. It was night. As I was walking, two guys suddenly jumped out from behind a car and confronted me. To this day I can't be sure of what it was about. I recoiled, took a step backwards, swept the jacket aside and grabbed my gun which I carried in the kidney position. I didn't draw it, not clear what my thoughts were, but it seemed a dramatic step to take, pulling the gun. They reacted also by almost recoiling, suddenly nervous. One of them asked me for the time. I gave him the time. I don't remember exactly how I did it. Maybe I guessed an approximate time? Maybe I did look at my watch? But I also have this faint memory of having held out my watch for him to see for himself? They were suddenly in a hurry and left.

Apparently not, I'm a straight shooter. ![:D](//storage2.proboards.com/6576594/images/RfSsfnvnYQL0brM0FvUm.png) Do you think you are owed an explanation? Yes, especially when I apply for something and, having met ALL the stated requirements....my application is still flatly denied without explanation. I more than qualify under the rules they have laid out, and yet I am told "your application is denied. PERIOD. THE END." I would like an explanation as to WHY I was denied and what I am missing. Was there some rule that my application didn't quite meet for some reason that I didn't know about? If so, what was it. Explain to me how I failed to meet your requirements if your requirements stated "at least 5 years experience" and I have 8. Do you dwell on things that are often out of your control? I do.

Golf. Due to the nature of my career and that I do not drive, have a license or even access to a car...I only golf in the Summer and I have to rely on others to do the driving so my ability to play also depends on others' schedules, but I try to play at least twice a week, and I spent anywhere from 80 to 200 dollars on greens fees depending on the course. On top of that there is the cost of new shoes every 5 years, and I don't buy cheap shoes. I've always, only and ever bought FOOTJOY shoes. Then there's balls, gloves, maybe a new bag etc. A lot of incidentals. I just bought a new bag in mid '21 after over a decade with my last bag and the zippers breaking. So it all adds up.
But it's the only sport I play....I play regularly and I thoroughly enjoy it. In the summer it's the only thing I actually want to do. So I don't mind spending the money. My other expensive hobby is PC-building.

No, but my many years ago my dad was given a rifle that belonged to his dad (my grandfather) that was World War II era (a Garand M1, I believe).....But my dad loaned it to a friend of his from work who was into Skeet Shooting. The dude totally ruined it by over heating and over expanding the barrel; my dad was so bitterly disappointed that he hasn't spoken to the guy since. After that it was useless, the barrel was so warped and disfigured that it was turned into scrap. Dad was forced to take it to a refinery and have them melt it down and disasseble it. That aas a sad day.
In retrospect, he never felt safe with it in the house anyway.

Off and on. I think it's mostly on now. During the paus for Covid, Broadbent raced against a number of the drivers, Verstappen, Norris, both Leclercs, Russel, Perez,.. Following those races, you felt you got closer to the drivers, since you hear all their socializing, fooling around, jokes and yelling. So I got interested again and followed the end of the season. Not sure what I think about the last race, but I think Verstappen is a worthy champion, because that engine that Mercedes mounted in Hamilton's car for the three last races was a monster.
Do you think that racing will ever be as good again, as during the Group C formula, in the real world?
