I went through a significant Zesty Italian phase. Now I'm all over the place. Lime vinaigrette, creamy blue cheese, or a simple balsamic. So, nope. No preferred taste right now. All the flavours. *** Do you have a story you tell over and over in new settings to impress people?

Not to impress people....But rather to inform, so that people understand why I lip-read (because some people are creeped out by it, until I tell them why it is necessary).

I used to travel regularly, on a shoe string on my own for most the last times, but now i have become a lazy father cause the kids could easily come with us. Maybe it s seeing the grand parents regularly and maybe i kinda prefer short distances vacation now. But travels could happen just outside the house i guess, and it doesn't most of the time Do u practice long distance travel almost each year ?

Yes. I love traveling and there is still a sizable bucket list of far away places to visit. Due to Covid-19 we have not done it in 2020 or 21, but this year I hope it will be possible.
Do you have a favorite book that you re-read occasionally ?

The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Week. Just a fabulous trilogy; I have read it six times in the 10 years I've had it since its release and every time I discover new things about it-- and I still manage to bawl like a baby at the ending! Every. Damn. Time. It's just that good.
I am enjoying The Lightbringer, though for different reasons, and yet The Night Angel I think in many ways is a better story. It is one that I would absolutely recommend.

Well, I'm not sure. I'm thinking that maybe 'Historical Fiction' is a large genre?
But yes. As I wouldn't say, for example, that I don't like Fantasy, or don't like SF, I can in the same manner not say that I don't like Historical Fiction. CS Forester, Samuel Shellabarger, Kenneth Roberts, Helen Dale, Alan Scholefield, Tolstoy, Pasternak, have written great novels looking back in time at certain events. And so have many others. Novels set in WW1 and WW2 are probably soon in the same field?
I don't mind that novels are 'historical'. Not at all. Let's put it like that. Dramatic events make for an engaging setting.
Or were you talking about Victor Hugo, Alexander Dumas, etc? I like them too.
But I also don't like a novel just because it's historical. Same with other genre's. I like SF and Fantasy because those genres are so free. But at the same time I can become very annoyed when that freedom is used to provide a container for nonsense. In the same way, I'm not a great fan of novels put in 'alternative history' in order to provide for stupid points.
Do you know about, and are on guard against, some obsession you have?

No, never did. If by a collection you mean ordered things around a 'theme', I've never had real collection. The closest like that that I ever got to, is my old stamp collection, from youth, that I abandoned and stopped maintaining decades ago. Then there were potted plants, from a period when I was living on - or in - a roof. More things of a certain kind than you can use at one time, otoh, - I have many of those. The thing that probably stands out the most, are probably my fountain pens. But it's not really a collection. It's just that I buy pens that I'm interested in trying out. I don't know how many I have. Do you like 'Progressive Rock'? (Deep Purple, Yes, Rush, King Crimson, Dream theater, Tool,.. etc)

Language is this marvelous tool to transfer ideas from one brain to another. Once invented, it also gave us the ability to better organize our thinking by the method of internalized speech. But in speech, words only have a meaning within a certain context. Same with our thinking, concepts only have a meaning within a certain context.
So with 'up' and 'down' for instance, they are concepts that only have meaning in contexts of a planet surface and gravity and/or our body's orientation. - That -, is how I think of 'up' and 'down'.
Do you adhere to fashions in cooking, like that pasta should be 'al dente', or that pork and chicken shouldn't be 'overdone', "because it'll be dry"? Or do you contemptuously disregard such as tasteless and dangerous nonsense and do whatever and however you like?

I dont think i do. It took me years to shake up my habits of avoiding fat at all cost when leaving my parents house. Now i saw the light, and fat are the best think to make all the rest taste better ! Especially for poultry. I ate goose for the first time (i think) this Xmas and it was marvellously fat and juicy ! On the other hand, i m not sure whatever else is a fashion in cooking, but i m quite reactionary in this domain anyway
Do u like your meat fat and/or juicy ?
