Do you hip shot? Punk?
Do ya?
...
When you realize 10 years late that proper hipshotting shotguns is almost as effective as ADS for headshots; hits with as much regularity as ADS to the body; avoids the time penalty of ADS and the potential with smart choke to ADS and miss entirely, when a hipshot would have at least landed a few pellets.
What the fuck have I been doing .clownface?

Zero serious replies. This was not an unexpected outcome.
This is a game skill, in my opinion one of the final missing pieces for me. It is a trust skill - trust yourself and your cursor placement. With Wraith, and power canceling (the true differentiator), you can wreck a mook spawn with any kit. 4 shots and a power, it does not get more efficient unless Cobra. In solo environments, this can be the difference between gelling when a surprise spawn tries the surprise buttsex, and losing a bar of health and moving on with your life.
Noticed this a lot on a recent UUG that I opened a lobby for but no one joined. Ended up rolling Old Reactor Reapers with DemoGrill. Hip shots saved my ass multiple times, in my typical aggressive DG play style (5 grabs (at least), more than 25 melee kills, 5WS, 10HS medal never ADS) - had surprise spawns and with one Wraith + one Arc, I could kill them all, or the crucial ones to have an escape path to new cover.
Power Canceling, at a high level, is the penultimate skill. More powerful than simple reload canceling, but useless without the final game skill, that very few (and definitely not me) have -
Calm intrepidity.
The calm intrepidity has to be the most important one, or everyone is a cheater and I am the best of the best.
So, the post tone was not serious. The question is. We've only been playing for 10 years, game is still brand new.

I'm hip enough that I put my earbuds in the wrong ears and my hard won "banshee-scream radar" broke my brain for about 30 seconds there before I realized what happened.
Looking behind me, on the roof if they were bugged, in circles.
Good times.

I even hipfire sniper rifles sometimes, especially against geth turrets. This is valuable input. Thanks in particular for your response. In CP2077, ADS was pointless with my playstyle (when I even considered using a gun). When I came back to our game, the behavior stuck. Undid 10yrs of muscle memory in one game, in a good way overall. I did hipfire my sniper a couple times the other day, but was able to "correct" that behavior. Against that level of shields, the hipfire penalty is meaningless if you hit the target. Smart move, will try to emulate situationally.

Over 20 years ago I played Counter-Strike (the original one, not that crap that followed after) and some arena shooters. Back then ADS was never a thing and you'd usually only use the scope on sniper rifles (or not use it sometimes). All that ADS bullshit began to become popular with Call of Duty I think. So hipfiring most weapons is the default mode for me. Sometimes I quick-"scope" shotguns if the bulletspread is too much otherwise. But usually I hipfire them as well.

What I think is my case: The panic of the Gold zerg rush made me panic. I also felt that the "right" way to play was to aim for the head. I was right, but I didn't understand that ADS wasn't as necessary as I believed it to be. Add panic to a player that doesn't trust their aim to begin with and is OCD about getting the shot - explains a lot of deaths, too focused down the sights to see all the beauty there is in the world... And the Marauder behind me. If you want to bum rush the enemy, you don't really have time for being fancy. Living and killing is better than dying trying to kill in style. I'm hip to it now.

Same, it took me time to do it less, a very long time When I start to play again more, I revert to old bad habits. Seems my lessons only stick when I play other games for a bit. It is because I am a scorewhore/speedwhore. I do want to score high, but the real motivation is to kill the enemy as fast as possible. I don't want to wait for them. This mode works great with an experienced player or two on the team, but can be disastrous with a group of noobs where you thought the accounts were alts but they were in fact brand new. It isn't easy being hip.

It isn't easy being hip. I find the very idea that a weapon that fires a projectile .... would somehow not fire that projectile with the same kinetic energy (Sir Isaac Newton style) if fired from the hip vs fired when aiming down the sights .... to be Entirely F'ing retarded. I will say the same for weapons that are designed to create extra lag in an already laggy game due to devs using Shitbomb TM netcode. It is hard to believe that someone would design a gun that fires ONLY where it was pointed .3 seconds ago. Imagine if the LE version of the game was actually Legendary. Imagine having Multiplayer at 4K resolution, 60 Hz, with guns that fired the very instant the trigger was pulled! Imagine having guns that worked the way they did when first released in Multiplayer before the devs nerfed the hell out of them. Somewhere out there in the universe exists the Typhoon of old - a gun that absolutely ate Atlases for lunch - or the origninal Piranha shotgun in all of its glory. Don't even get me started on the Krysae.... Edited: Typos

Mod manager can do it for you if you make your own BioInput.ini. Can fix the stupid Talon Merc there while you're at it, if you care. Somehow, the room is suddenly filled with the scent of sizzling bacon and porn.

Ha, I understand toohard toowell.
My Talon Merc "fix" has never worked, thus I never play the bum.
But my FoV TightAim/Release edit in BioInput works great, because ModManager only loads those keybinds in instances. Therefore, doesn't affect SP gameplay, and you can deactivate keybind injection if you want to follow specific rules for some challenge. Food for thought mon frer.
On topic - I was distinctly unhip yesterday. I crave headshots with my Vorcha Engineer. Best SubNet kit, far superior to BatSent. One thing the N7 Challenges really opened my eyes to is the power of this kit... He is a beast on and off host.
Got 20HS late in wave 3, which is frankly a failure. Did more hipshooting after that though.

Therefore, doesn't affect SP gameplay, and you can deactivate keybind injection if you want to follow specific rules for some challenge. Food for thought mon fr what s that ? could u be more specific ? arf i dont play anymore anyway Sure! So, ME3MM has the ability to inject keybinds into your mods, if you so choose. For example, I have several "mods" just for playing ME3MP in modes. My base mode is N7 Challenges Approved, which has objectives set to 3x escort, and is otherwise vanilla. Another mod that has all the maps in it, and then a couple others. If you right-click on a mod in MM, you get a submenu where you can choose to inject custom keybinds into the mod. These custom keybinds must be saved as a specific filename (something Mgamerz says in the description) and I think is saved in the "Override" folder of MM. This is just from memory, so I may have some details wrong or fuzzy, but this is the gist. BioInput is a portion of Coalesced, and is compiled fresh each time you launch the game by MM, inserting any keybind file you have in that location.
