If this sells really well, I wouldn't mind seeing them do a proper Starfinder game down the line. Or as I think of it: Pathfinder 40K Well less grimdark overall, but yes.

Available romances:
Octavia (Bi) Valerie (Straight) Tristian (Straight) Regongar (Bi) Octavia AND Regongar(Bi)
Non-companion romances, alas, seem to have been cut.

Due for release on 25th September. It looks promising. I can't decide yet. And...they have four different editions for sale. Explorer, Noble, Royal and Imperial editions.

Def looks interesting. I'll prob wait till all dlc comes out. But oddly enough I remember you could preorder it from gmg a while back, but now its seemed to have disappeared from the site entirely.

Unfortunately Pathfinder is released the same time as Valkyria Chronicles 4, which I really want to play. So I'll give Pathfinder a whirl a little later.

So, decision time I guess... Paladin or sorcerer? Paladin. I always play the Lawful Good typpes during my first playthroughs. Then I go Lawful Evil in my second. So first Paladin then Sorceror. In the first NWN I steamrolled through the OC as a Paladin. Then in SOU HOTU I steamrolled as a Sorceror. It's really up to you.
I am intersted in finding out more about Pathfinder, is it a D&D based rule set?

Based on the D&D 3.5 ruleset.

I didn't back Kingmaker kickstarter because I wasn't too interested in kingdom management (and I'm still not interested), but I'm currently bored of all my old games and I haven't played a new game since like last March so the Pathfindingness of this game is rather attractive to me right now. I'm might actually buy it. So, decision time I guess... Paladin or sorcerer? I personally prefer Paladin so I can smack people in the face with all my righteousness, but the Sorcerer bloodlines stuff looks super interesting. The game looks like a one hours in character creation game and restarting 10 times before settling into something "comfortable".

It's heavily based on the 3.5 ruleset. It was essentially created for people who didn't like 4th Edition D&D
If I knew for certain there was a Holy Avenger in the game, I know I'd pick paladin hands-down. I do like their survivability, melee damage, and healing ability (albeit limited)
But looking at the companions, We still have Valerie and Almiri as potential tanks/beat down damage-dealers. But there don't appear to be any "pure casters" at least as far as arcane magic goes. Linzi is a bard, thus a hybrid caster. Octavia is multiclass. I'm not too familiar with the magus, but I suspect that's another hybrid class. SO I think if I want "phenomenal cosmic power!!!" I'll need to bring it myself. And I always liked the sorcerer class in 3.5/Pathfinder.

I've been checking the "all we know thread" on the official forum for the game (because I didn't back it I didn't really follow it so now that I'm interested in it I'm playing catch-up) and I think I have to bump the one hours in character creation game and restarting 10 times to three hours of reading the manual before starting to play... I'm actually getting hyped right now... If I knew for certain there was a Holy Avenger in the game, I know I'd pick paladin hands-down. I do like their survivability, melee damage, and healing ability (albeit limited)

Paladins get divine bonds weapon, it's unclear what the options will be in the game for it, but you can turn a weapon holy with it in the pnp. Although, making a flaming Holy Avenger is probably cooler. I personally expect the most iconic Paladin's weapon to be in it, they took the time to make an absurd amount of spells and enemies from what I've read, so why skip a simple weapon. The game will support custom companions too, if you feel it lack pure casters...

A little more detail on the romances: /posts/2285648?ref=backer_project_update Love in the Stolen Lands - Companion Romances A life of adventure and the burden of rulership are no obstacle for deep feelings and devotion. The romances of "Pathfinder: Kingmaker" are here to enhance your roleplaying experience. On top of having their own stories, personalities and motivations, we've added additional depth to some of our companions by allowing players to romance them. Four of our brave party members are available as potential love interests: Valerie (romanceable by male PCs), Tristian (female PCs), Octavia, and Regongar (both romanceable by male and female PCs).
Valerie appears rational and reserved. And yet, hidden behind all the self-control, her emotions yearn to break free. To win her heart you must first win her trust - and help her to come to peace with herself.
Young and naïve, Tristian has yet to experience love. Afraid of the pain of heartbreak, he is hesitant to open himself to others. But when he does, you won't find a partner more tender and devoted than him.
Octavia, the optimistic, bright-spirited wizard, is a true friend and confidant. But don't let her cheerfulness fool you – she sought freedom so desperately that the thought of losing it is something she cannot bear. For her, is love a source of happiness - or something to fear? Regongar is like an active volcano. Fierce and dashing, he can't live without danger and challenges. Is there a limit to his recklessness? Will he be able to stop before destroying everything he holds dear? At the game's start Octavia and Regongar are a couple on the verge of breaking up. It's up to you to help one of them find their new love (you!) or rekindle their old flame - and even become a part of it.
For the purpose of building a complete experience and adding more depth to the whole story, we tied the romances to the main storyline. To gain the attention of your love interest you will have to travel together and participate in the story events together. This will prompt additional cues and dialogue options with a character, allowing you to learn more about them and get them to know a little better.
Actions speak louder than words. Striking down a deadly monster at great risk to yourself, swaying an enemy to your side, or taking responsibility for a particularly tough decision can impress your love interest... or disappoint them.
There are no alignment restrictions on romances in the game. An evil character can fall in love with a good one, although keeping such a relationship alive may be harder than maintaining a romance between characters with similar alignment and values in life.
Romance in Pathfinder: Kingmaker is a journey, both intricate and exciting. At the end of it, you may be able to marry your beloved, or decide to skip the formalities and live together without titles and simply enjoy the relationship for what it is. In the end, this is your love story.

Now what class to play first.... 1st World Problem! After looking on how the classes works in the game, I'm rather tempted by the Inquisitor. There is an evil aligned Inquisitor companion, but I'm usually not that happy with evil anything so it doesn't bother me too much. Otherwise, it's going to be Paladin or Cleric I think. Saying that, there is a lot of tempting things to try in the game, the question is more "how well" the game support playing them.

Was the information about custom portraits posted here already? Because I found about it only recently: You can prepare three your own portraits with names: Small, Medium and Fulllength. All this images must be saved in PNG format with resolutions: Small - width: 185px, height: 242px; Medium - width: 330px, height: 432px; Fulllength - width: 692px, height: 1024px; You can use this templates imgur.com/a/gtkHk5JSmall being the head, medium are busts and the fulllength one has the whole body visible.

So is Inquisitor anything like an anti-paladin? An anti-paladin archer maybe? It's looks like an inquisitor is sort of a religious hunter. A vigilante for a diety. If I had to compare, I'd say if Cassandra was a paladin, Lelliana was in Inquisitor

Dragon Disciple Mystic Theurge Eldritch Knight I know what the first one is - thought I'm still curious to see their take on it, but any idea on what the other two are? Mystic theurge is a caster who can do both arcane and divine spells. Eldritch Knight is a warrior/arcane caster hybrid..

Okay, I've narrowed my first class choice down to Sorcerer or Magus. Maybe Inquisitor, but the limited weapon proficiency is a bit of a disappointment. I originally had Barbarian on the list, but I like Amiri's back story and will want her in the party, and who needs two Barbarians? Although there's something to be said for an all Barbarian party -- not an option in Kingmaker, though. Too bad there isn't a Monk companion. I'd like to see if the Monk progression is viable as a PC. Doesn't look like it, eyeballing the class specs. The high level skills seemed a bit nerfed, relatively speaking. Though my sensibilities are skewed to AD&D, never played editions after that. Not that the Monk was all that great in AD&D, lol. When is an RPG game ever going to let me play as Pai Mei in Kill Bill?

You can create companions a the mercenary hall for gold. So you can do an all-barbarian party if you don't mind most of them not having backstories or anything. Supposedly there was a monk companion at first, but got cut. Maybe in a DLC?
