My DA Day predictions actually weren't too far off. We got a new short story, a blog post, character posters for Absolution, and possibly an indication they won't be at the Game Awards. Instead of images from the game we got that Solas video, which was a bit more than I expected (although largely a rehash of info we already knew). I was optimistic about the Game Awards prior to DA Day but not so much anymore. Possible we are reading too much into the blog post "close out this year" though. I still think TGA would make sense to have a 2 for the price of 1 advertisement for both Dreadwolf and Absolution, especially with Absolution premiering the next day. Like they could easily put something at the end of the trailer to say "and tune it to Netflix at midnight (or whatever time it premieres) for the new animated series Dragon Age Absolution." I read “close out this year” as “close out this year’s DA DAY celebration”, but I can see it the other way too (but I really don’t want to lol.) From a marketing perspective, it would make sense to release a substantial trailer for the actual game out in time for Absolution so that new viewers could have something to pique their interest about Dreadwolf. It would be even more effective to show the trailer for the game at the end of the Absolution series (but have the world premiere at the VGA’’s.) Like, the lucrative time to market the game is now. I honestly thought they set up the premiere of the show to be in December after the VGA’s for this very reason. Of course plans change and perhaps they did. But I still think we’re in for a treat for The Game Awards!

Yeah the timing of everything is a big reason I was optimistic for this year's Game Awards. I hope you are right!

I said pretty much the same thing in a thread earlier today but someone opined that the Summer game awards makes more sense and not enough people will watch the NetFlix show. I think people are just psyching themselves into the doldrums for no reason about this. The marketing opportunities this week with the VGA and Absolution are enormous and like you I really do believe their own marketing department will want something out to tie in with the TV show and this teaser from Sunday? Nah that ain't it. That was the little hot dog in the croissant that passes by before they open the buffet!

Nah that ain't it. That was the little hot dog in the croissant that passes by before they open the buffet! The intentionality of the date for absolution's drop - 12/9 - is the only thing that is keeping me certain that we will be having something new at the game awards. The timing is far, far too intentional to be coincidental - this was planned. I do believe there will be more shown at the game awards.

For those clinging to hope of seeing Dreadwolf at the Game Awards, Geoff Keighley did say on a Twitter space tonight they were trying to keep more secrets and surprises this year because they felt like they had announced too much in advance in previous years.

Whether or not that allows for 'hope', it may well be the most self-aware thing I have ever seen/heard/read Keighley say.

Shame i will have to watch the game awards anyway because Jedi Survivor is already confirmed to be there. Maybe i will turn it on during the later part of the show.

Yeah, I'm already watching for Jedi Survivor and Baldur's Gate 3. If Dragon Age shows something, great! If not, at least I'll have to to see what Cal Kestis and Misc are up to.
I do think the timing of Absolutions release is weird if they're not planning to show something, though.

While I would be most pleasantly surprised if Dreadwolf shows, I don't think it's going to, based on the da day blog. I can't remember if the game awards also does trailers for tv/movie adaptations of games, but if they do then it wouldn't surprise me to see an Absolution trailer on the show, given the release timing. I'll probably won't watch the awards live, they post the trailers pretty quickly so I'll look at any that interest me then (plus i haven't played any of the games nominated, so not particularly interested in who wins).

Or they were just timing it out with DA Day and I think Netflix often releases shows on Fridays.

Maybe we still get a surprise but there is no buzz on Biowares social media accounts to watch the show. So yeah i think this Dreadwolf Teaser is all that we are get for this year and many months. The next event would be Summer Game Fest 2023 (June 8 2023) or at the same time if EA returns its own event EA Play 2023.
Yes they should take their time and yes the pandemic but come on this is pretty bad marketing. Give us more infos atleast who is DADs protagonist and 1-2 companion reveals.

And why did they made trailers and teasers before if they aren´t ready to start marketing? I mean when this teaser had been released the DAD development hadn´t been started or in a pretty early stage.
And no there is no mistake that was the teaser for the 2018 Game Awards. Even with pandemic excuse they still could already have shown way more. 4 long years!!! And No i am not even including the time for the first version of DA 4 aka Morrison.

I see there's a fair bit of grousing on Reddit about the probable lack of a DA trailer at the Game Awards. The prevailing opinion seems to be that the in-game cinematic just wasn't a satisfying enough trickle of new info, given that it didn't really share anything we didn't already know.

The prevailing opinion seems to be that the in-game cinematic just wasn't enough of a trickle of new info, given that it didn't really share anything we didn't already know. It's even worse than that. The cinematic was mostly just reiterating information from the 2018 and 2020 teasers. It's like the marketing department, forbidden from unveiling absolutely anything of substance about the game, has spent the last half decade figuring out how many different ways they can "reveal" the same basic info

"We wanted to close out this year with a little treat to celebrate Dragon Age Day in our own way by sharing a key cinematic from the game." Update: Very disappointing but not surprising that we won´t get a surprise trailer. The Who is the Dreadwolf teaser is all we get for the coming months.
