I did a detour to London, Earth. Which was... disappointing. There was nothing but one monument. It looked like millions of years had passed, not hundreds. Yeah, I imagine that's what Earth looked like after the HZD Apocashitstorm. Did you pick up the snowglobe? Yep! I've been hoarding snowglobes, teddy bears, decorations, and other toys for... uh... Well, I'm probably just going to throw them in a big pile and see if I can break the game's physics.

Just cruising around this morning and found a Zero-G Party Ship. ... then found a rather impressive mech factory. Hmmmmmm, can I steal one of those?

I've already added an extra module in between the main body of the ship and the cockpit, and added a storage unit onto that new section.
How you add crew space/slots? I went to the ship build option but I didn't see any modules to add, just weapons and engine upgrade stuff. I need more space!
And, Vasco didn't come back on the ship with me? How do you get all those people on the ship without adding space first?
They just hang around the table/bed areas or stand in corners. To add them, I think I'm remembering correctly - go into the ship builder and there's an edit mode (not sure that's what it's called) and by pressing A (on the Xbox controller) allows you to add, you can scroll through module types with LB/RB.

Managed to sneak past the Serpent ships. Took a long time just travelling at 5 speed but done. Went to Luna and took a long time working out how to dock, including smashing into the station many times. Shot a lot of mercs and spacers, but took a lot of damage doing it as they melee'd me whilst I was reloading. Ran out of ammo on some weapons and had to switch. Tried out a shotgun and whilst it does a lot of damage I took a lot as well as I reloaded every second shot. It's going to take me a long time to get used to how this game plays, if I ever do.

I'm so mad right now that there isn't an automatic/assisted option, like if you die repeatedely at the same mission - it will be an autopilot during the gameplay - and I am playing on "very easy" ... I don't know what to do, even after cautiously looking online, because I want to avoid story spoilers - at least for the first playtrough. Can't finish/continue a constellation mission (#11) title of the mission > "High Price to Pay" detailed sub-mission name > "find Noel/escape to your ship" description of situation > WARNING STORY SPOILERS How do I kill or at least survive the hunter fight, after finding Noell in the Constellation Lodge sewer underground? the Hunter duplicates - seems to be imune to any weapon I have - and kills me within 10-20 seconds, even if I hide behind beams mostly. I am in my first (Bethesda) game/playtrough - just doing the constellation story missions, nothing else - so no research, crafting, buying etc. I'm level 10, spent my skill points on maximizing my maximum health & jetpacks. Because I pretty much always run out of ammo before a fight even really has stared, I mainly play reverzed to play with the defualt rock cutting weapon so far. My game mode is set to very easy (though I would disagree), I'm a very casual gamer and not goot with aiming/shooting. made me think of Mass Effect: This seems to be a Starfield's version of the Suicide Mission...

You should have picked-up weapons as loot by now. This is a RPG, upgrade your gear via loot or trading. Also, since ammo is scarce (early on at least), you should try to use guns that use different ammo types to avoid running out and you should buy ammo at vendors too if you aren't find that much. There is also a very good pistol you can buy (pricy at 18 244 credits) in Akila City at the Rowland Arms. Or invest in punching/melee and just punch/hack things.

I think I have have about 30 hrs in at this point and still haven't touched to main quest. I just got done doing an awesome quest for a farmer who sent out a distress call and the quest ended in all out fleet battle. Best quest so far. My ship is getting better and better, still haven't nailed down the color scheme yet. So I just painted it black for now. I named it CSC RAVENHAWK. I turned the frontier into a killing machine. Still more work needs to be done on it.

Hmm, I think I might be doing that quest now. Met up with the farmer and then went exploring the map. One of the planets in this system will fulfill a survey quest and I'm hoping it's this one, even though I'm not quite done with it yet.
Pics
This is for dazk - see how the scan option is lit up on the far left of the text bar? That's when you hit E to scan stuff. Messing around with phote mode. The first pic is normal game view, second one is dressed up, apparently in Mars garb.
Another photo mode pic - I added some color and made it brighter since it was twilight in game and somewhat hard to see anything. My first outpost, which is really just an extraction/supply depot because I was carrying too much stuff!

I had my first zero g combat experience, and I had just bought some frag mines, it was pretty fun throwing them out and watching them slowly float towards a target. Probably the most fun I've had so far with the combat. I tried to leave a system before getting scanned, yeah that doesn't work, ended up with a 1300 credit bounty. The inventory limitations has been really annoying me, eventually I setup an outpost on some random planet I was on, and built a storage container. Kinda get the sense I'm gonna need a lot of those. Anyway, I put my contraband in that, and returned to face the music. I'm thinking if you choose jail time, you lose all your XP progress towards your next level, I plan to test that out further. If that is the case you should level up before turning yourself in. Also, I had my first dialogue choice relating to the "Wanted" trait.

I am a bit in the same boat as you but have played Skyrim and that has helped a little bit but I have played several shooters and that has definitely helped. Bethesda must never have played some of those shooters and seen the enormous feedback about LACK OF AMMO. It's infuriating even picking up every damn weapon and weapon type and looting all the ammo I still have to resort to the Mining laser at times. And azarhal I at least looked at buying ammo. and 20 rounds cost $1,000 credits for my favourite weapon so no to that option.

melbella I got the option last night playing, I think it just hadn't been an option early on for some reason, maybe too early in the game? So main annoyances after more playing last night (playing slightly inebriated helps apparently - hey it was Fathers Day ) are definitely the scarcity of ammo. the encumbrance issue and not being able to FT and the general lack of reward for doing anything. I have not been worrying about crafting, collecting or that sort of stuff and just selling everything. New Atlantis and it's shops still confuse me and no way am I buying a coffee for $100 credits or a drink at a bar for some obscene amount. plenty of that to loot shame you can't use it as ammo. A gun that fired CAN-uck cans would be constatly full of Ammo.

To transport contraband into civil systems you need a shielded cargo bay (and another ship module I don't remember the name) and invest into the Deception skill to reach 100% protection. To buy those "illegal" ship mods you need to go visit "bad guys" ship vendors. And if you want to sell your contraband without being scanned, same thing: visit bad guys. The easiest if you don't know how to find the Crimson Blood is the Red Miles on Planet Porrima III . dazk yet, that's not a cheap-to-use gun you are using. The Scavenger skills that should increase ammo (and credits) drops too.

The Scavenger skills that should increase ammo (and credits) drops too. It's one of the most available and run of the mill guns in the game, and one of the only AR's which I like to use that does more than 4 damage. None of the ammo for any of the guns in the shop were cheap especially when I have trying to save to do extensive ship upgrades or buy a new one which is easier, half way there. Yeah will invest my next point in Scavenger - reluctantly. So many other things I want to put points in and I officially hate the gating of skills behind having to actually do stupid stuff like run out of Oxygen ten times. Reminds me must head to NMM and see what's happening.

Here's my character making a fool of himself by showing his lame jumping skills. Actually it's one of the poses chosen in photo mode. Shiny. My boosting skills are very good on the moon. What I like is I'm able to see my character's shadow in the ground. With Sarah as my sidekick, we can go all over the place hijacking ships. While on Mars looking for some guy, I tried taking ships in the port. The game wouldn't let me. I'm thinking of asking for a refund. hahahahaha I noticed when indoors, Sarah automatically switches to her casual clothes while my character is stuck in the spacesuit. If someone know's how to have that happen without going into my inventory to change, I would appreciate it. And lastly watching Sarah run. She reminds me of Tom Hanks running in the movie Forrest Gump

Same. I've maxed out my cargo hold, my inventory, 3 crew members' inventory and there's still more stuff out there. I guess I need more crew members! lol Last time I was at New Atlantis the trade kiosk ran out of funds. Oh please somebody, make an 'everything weighs nothing' mod.
I just shut down for the night. I had finished exploring a planet and when I got back into orbit 3 Ecliptic ships were after me and I lost. Reloaded to just arriving at the planet I had just left. Yeah, do that again tomorrow.

Yeah and a MOD that gives vendors unlimited money. When you give stuff to Vasco is that the ship inventory? If not how do I store stuff in the ship inventory? Do certain shops give you better prices for different things, I am picking weapons up etc. and keeping it because it says it's worth say $2,000 then when I go to sell it I'm lucky to get $700 at the vendors that I am aware of or the space kiosk. Then I can't sell some stuff or have to for terrible prices because the game says you will get less than the items value. I assume that is they have reached a buying limit or some such damn thing. I had calculated what I had collected would get me close to being able to buy a decent ship but got 20% of what the value of what the item said it was all worth.

I had to stop to stop in anger today, spent all day pretty much doing a mission called Ground pounder. It was hard, definitely above my level and then we get to this stage where the people I have rescued start talking about the pirates space capability and I am like here we go. Yep have to go destroy the pirates ships and of course I have to fight them in space. Impressed myself, took down the first three ships v my one Woohoo. Then it updates go defeat the next lot, Killed one quickly and then died over and over and over and over again 10+ attempts in all, not sure what was different with the second set of three but I would kill the first one and the other two would just pound me into oblivion. I managed to Grav Jump once but straight into an even worse fight of 10 on one in an asteroid field. Then I kept getting you cannot fast travel in combat warning. Had to give up and lose 40+ minutes of gameplay and lost a skill achievement. Anyone done this mission yet? I am guessing I just suck and the ship (not upgraded) is not fit for the fight. Has anyone done the Mantis Mission, I need a better ship and have that mission to get that ship but have heard it is quite high level with some bosses level 25+ I have managed to fight some Level 15 people at Level 7 I think I am without too much difficulty.

I periodically walk surplus resources (Lead, Iron, Water, etc) to The Lodge from my ship, so that my ship's cargo bay isn't at capacity.

I think I'm finally ready to get on with whatever Sarah has in store for us. After I turn down the game settings that is. This. I have an older CPU atm, but I am running a GTX 4080 at 1440p resolution (Ultra settings) and framerates just tanked when I reached the city. I know it's optimized for AMD, but I didn't expect my rig to perform that poorly, given the fidelity of the game is not that high. Dayum, don't scare me like that, lol. My CPU is still older, maybe older than yours. So it won't matter much that I rock a 4090. Do you use FSR or any of the DLSS mods?
Congrats on the new GPU btw. You may have announced the upgrade at some point, but I have missed it.

Yes, I've did that one. If you have the starter ship, you're not beating that mission. You're going to have to tinker with the ship builder. It may look intimidating at first but once you get the hang of it, it becomes addictive. I've already put about 450,000 credits in my ship lol and still haven't paid off my dream home mortgage. The space combat is not hard. I'm playing the game on hard and it's a cake walk. It's that dumb first ship that's the problem. It couldn't even takeout lvl 2 ships. I'm taking out ships way above my lvl now.

Vasco has his own inventory. Ship inventory is the cargo hold, it's accessed on the left behind the pilot ship on the Frontier (check on the wall panels). You can also just dump stuff on the floor of you ship and pick it up later. Works too. Prices are fixed, should be similar everywhere. Zero changes for quantity. If you want better sell/buy prices, you need to invest in the commerce skill.
