In some ways it might be better if it remains a mystery, even demons are weary of it. Saw what it did to Corypheus and the architect. Of course all that just makes me want to see it more. But at the same time the mystery is part of it's aura. I get where you're coming from here, and I guess I share that view. I've always been endlessly fascinated by the things we don't actually get to see in Tolkien's universe but which are alluded to. I long to see them, yet I know that the mystery is a big part of the allure. The Black City definitely falls into that camp too.

So this is a shot from Arlathan Forest. What is it with the elves and big hands? I remember there was a big hand in the Exalted Plains near the area dedicated to Ghilan'nain. However, there was a codex somewhere saying that Elgar'nain had a big statue built to himself. So, perhaps he is the one who likes big hands. Is he compensating for something? I am particularly curious about this in view of the fact that the two gods that Rook releases are Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain, so whose hands are they?

Rivain and the Anderfels. Rivain is mentioned as being so different from the rest of Thedas, plus scenery porn. Gimme the Anderfels, too, especially Weisshaupt.

Any place with ruins and a sense of massive history that I can spend hours investigating and wondering about is like catnipt for me. I'll look under every root and broken wall in Arlathan Forest, investigate every nook and cranny in the Grand Necropolis, I want to experience the Black City as a place I can look around and not just be there in cutscenes. I'll even take Kal'Sharok because of the mystery.

Easy. Par Vollen. Been hearing about the ox-men since Origins. Seeing their society and encountering more than the antaam is something that needs to happen. Quite honestly, BioWare can’t lose if they expound on any of the territories listed in the poll, but seeing the Qun in real time interests me greatly.

It is interesting how many of these options we will be seeing in the game and from what we've seen so far will not disappoint. Also the first 6 each have an associated companion: Minrathous (Neve) - Not everyone likes the neon signs but it is certainly big and lived in. Arlathan Forest (Bellara) - More than just a few trees and crumbling ruins! Rivain (Taash) - Saw Taash fighting a dragon there so the previous screen shots were not just for show. Antiva (Lucanis) - One of the most featured in concept art, so looking forward to our visit Grand Necropolis (Emmrich) - Again, there are two screen shots from in game that show they have reproduced it on suitably grand scale. Anderfels (Davrin) - Only seen one in game screen so far but hopeful based off the concept art. Deep Roads - I think one of the Devs has confirmed we will be spending time there. Kal Sharok - The only major location that did not feature in the 2023 trailer or any of the latest screen shots (so far as I know). However, I am still hopeful we will get to see it. Golden City - Only if we get to see it as a flash back, otherwise if we visit it is going to be Black
So only the least popular choices don't appear to have made it into the game, based on what has been seen so far: Par Vollen; Vyrantium; Seheron and The Donarks

Real question is how much of the areas we know of are we going to see. I don't envision us being able to see much of anything outside the major locations...cities primarily...of those countries we know of. It's primarily linear with set design locations with some smaller explorable areas to stay narratively focused (thank god)...I'm hoping for something along the lines of Crestwood in those explorable areas but could see it being more like ME3 Citadel.

I actually wouldn't be the least bit surprised if we recruit Lucanis somewhere other then Antiva. I wasn't suggesting we recruit him there but he is associated with that location in his bio. It even mentions his connection with the Crow hierarchy, so I imagine that it will be part of his personal plot line in some way. We have yet to discover precisely what lay behind his fake death but no doubt it is going to be linked into any Crow narrative in some way. The point is that every location featured thus far has a companion associated with it, even if only in their backstory, the only exception being Harding. They have never made such an explicit connection between locations and all companions in previous games. Some companions might be strongly linked to an area: Morrigan (Korcari Wilds); Alistair (Redcliffe); Oghran (Orzammar) but Leliana, Sten and Zevran were outsiders who just happened to get involved in the story. (Okay Leliana did belong to the Lothering Chantry but she was raised and had spent most of her life in Orlais). Leaving aside DA2 which was based in Kirkwall and the surrounding countryside, in DAI we had companions closely connected with the Chantry: Cassandra, Leliana and Cullen (but that is an organisation not a location); Vivienne strongly connected with the Orlesian Court and that was really it. Dorian, Cole, Sera, Varric, Blackwall, Josephine, Solas and Iron Bull were not tied to any location as part of their own history. Sera was part of an underworld peasant movement with cells spread across the south, Josephine had some connection with the Orlesian Court as a diplomat but her origins were in Antiva and whilst Bull was a mercenary based in Orlais, he was really a Qunari spy. Likewise, the companions are all tied to a particular faction. Again, this has not been a feature of previous games where very often the companion was either not associated with any faction that featured in the narrative or, as in the case of Zevran, was willing to reject his ties to it. We may discover that our companions are renegades of sort in their particular factions but from what we know so far only Lucanis would appear to have severed ties with the Crows and until we learn more, even that is not guaranteed. It is certainly a different scenario to any we have previously encountered.

3. Antiva / Treviso. I'm a beach bum. Looking forward to crystalline blue waters, palm trees and men with accents.
2. Minrathous. Heard a lot about it, never been, so, long time coming. Tevinter Nights made it seem awesome and I liked (most of) what I saw in the gameplay reveal.
1. Weisshaupt. Been dying to see it since DAO. I love me anything Warden-y.
Special mention to: whatever region we'll visit that has cold weather. I liiive for a snowy map, honey. Spent a lot of time in Emprise du Lion, just wandering aimlessly in the snow like a crazy person.

Well the initial shots for the game in 2020 showed a snowy, mountainous landscape with dwarf statues, so I'm thinking we may pay a visit to the Hunterhorn Mountains on route to Kal-Sharok, possibly a follow on from visiting Weisshaupt. So, you are likely to get your snow then.

A huge huge map of a nice forest to run around in. That is my best way of getting banter in DA:I at least and I like walking in nature even digitally.

Have to add that I would love to see an area with lore of the dwarves. Just saw Valammar for the first time with the current inquisitor and it has been such a long long time since I did a deepdive into their situation. The Thaigs, the castless, everything. We need to know more. Hope that Harding as a companion means that we will eventually see more of the dwareves part of Thedas.

Just saw Valammar for the first time with the current inquisitor and it has been such a long long time since I did a deepdive into their situation. The Thaigs, the castless, everything. The reason why I focus on Kal-Sharok is that there were hints in DAI that something lay behind their survival that may or may not be sinister. Back in DAO we learned that when Orzammar abandoned the other Thaigs to the Darkspawn, they thought Kal-Sharok had been lost along with all the rest but it turned out that they survived without Orzammar being aware of it. That was a mystery in itself. How could Kal-Sharok have survived for the best part of 1,000 years and no one be aware of it? Given the Ambassadoria of the dwarves in Minrathous has strong links to Orzammar, clearly they didn't know and thus presumably the majority of Tevinter didn't either. Of course, that doesn't rule out people on the fringes of society and of course the Grey Wardens may have known and kept it secret at the request of Kal-Sharok. Then there was the information in Witch Hunt that Kal-Sharok destroyed Cad'Halash Thaig, ostensibly for helping the elves fleeing Arlathan in the wake of the war with Tevinter. At the time it was speculated this was to ensure relations with their new ally Tevinter weren't harmed but in the light of what we discovered in the Descent about the link between the Titans and the dwarves and then in Trespasser about what the Evanuris did to them, Mythal apparently doing something to break their connection with the Titans, it is possible that the reason for Kal-Sharok's action went deeper than that. May be somewhere deep in their memories is recorded the conflict with the elves. Kal-Sharok was the ancient capital of the dwarven empire, not Orzammar but then King Stonehammer decided to relocate his seat of power to the south. Why? Does it have anything to do with the fact that Orzammar was originally the Thaig where the majority of mining families were located? Perhaps there were dwarves in Kal-Sharok who objected to mining lyrium for Tevinter and that is why Stonehammer moved south, or perhaps that is where the majority of lyrium deposits are found. After all, Mythal was apparently responsible for lyrium mining in the ancient elven empire and her base of power was in the south. So, it seems there could be a whole heap of lore waiting to be discovered in Kal-Sharok and, apart from finding more about the origins of the Kossith/Qunari, that is the one about which I am most excited to discover more.

Can't complain, it is fun to rediscover everything. I really enjoy reading the posts with Lore.

I am really curious about the Grand Necropolis in Nevarra. Reread Tevinter Nights recently and it sounds really fascinating. It also confirmed my first Rook as a Mortalitasi Mage from the Mourn Watch. If I can't get Blood Magic, then my the Maker I will have my Necromancy.
