I'm about to head for work and oh my, gameplay reveal will hit 1.7 million views. It took like 40 hours for for cinematic reveal to reach that milestone, yet 17 hours for gameplay reveal. That's nuts! Taking a break from work and after 21 hours, gameplay reveal is only 15k views behind cinematic reveal trailer, having 1.8 million views.
I wish I could check, but I think this is the best performing gameplay reveal/trailer for any BioWare game? At least it's on par with Andromeda gameplay videos, which is wild!

Since the dialogue icons on the wheel looks like those in DA2 (the purple laughing mask is back!!!). So they might have gone back to that tone system, where auto-dialogues is based on the tones you picked earlier (or highest depending). And they might have added some background stuff to it. I would not be opposed to that, it worked relatively well. Having full control is better but sometimes my Hawke did something on their own that was surprising and fun. I think my asshole rogue killed somebody who annoyed them mid conversation? That was nice. I never hated auto dialogue as much as most people seem to. Maybe because I just enjoy following a story of a character who I don't feel the need to micromanage every step of the way. They aren't my character anyway, they are Bioware's. I can shape them to some degree but they still do certain things the devs want them to do and that's fine. Now of course there's no reason not to include more freedom of choice for something minor like we saw in the demo. So I do hope too that this auto choice is based on faction or previous behavior like in DA2.

About to head back to work, but just want to update that gameplay reveal has overtaken cinematic trailer! Never before has gameplay video overtaken cinematic reveal trailer from any BioWare games, especially when the cinematic trailer is performing great with views.

At this point do we know if we choose say an elf or dwarf what origin options we won’t be playing?
If we choose human mage are we a circle mage?
Is there a thread for this?

Also, I'm pretty sure the faction will indicate where you come from and your status and it might not be the same across all of them. The Mourn Watch is exclusive to Nevarra city Grand Necropolis and they train their own mages (the Mortalitasi) for example.

would be nice to see the like vs dislke ratio. Due to blatant brigading, we can't take likes to dislikes seriously. Is there some group effort to dislike the videos? Are people organizing in discord or something to take down Bioware/Dragon Age? I dont get this... People like what they like and dislike what they dislike. If there's more dislikes, more people dislike it rather than like it. Where is the conspiracy there? Its far easier to believe such a conspiracy when its the other way around (bad product getting botted with good reviews, positive spins cause people making product are rich and have connections in media). Besides, Youtube hides dislikes. You have to instal an extension to view the dislikes. Which means most people who watch the videos have no clue about the ratio, which further implies that what's happening is actually organic and not fabricated or sheep behavior. After all the bad stuff Bioware has put out lately is it too hard to believe that most gamers dont trust them anymore? Well, they have reason to not trust them. And its perfectly normal for people to go on dislike rampage as soon as something they dont like shows up. How else will they get the message across to Bioware that what they are doing isnt working. Stop blaming "them haters on the webs" and put the pressure on the right spot - Bioware. They need to know if what they are doing is being well received or not. If its not being well received they have to put in the work, listen to feedback/backlash and its their responsability to make it good! I mean, if they want to sell ofc...... Cause you know, thats how you do business. Dont get me wrong mate, im not a hater. Im a long time Bioware fan who has remained faithful for way longer that i probably should. I want this game to succeed. But i want it to succeed because its good, not because of brand loyalty or because of some weird type of vindication.

Someone on Reddit made a gif showing DAVe rogue dagger skills vs Inquisition: https://www.reddit.com/r/dragonage/comments/1de47mg/rogue_skills_veilguard_inquisition/ Now we can wonder how Parry, Twin Fang and Shadow step aren't needed on the 3 active slots to use them.

Bioware games get brigaded routinely by culture war tourists. They flooded the chat, they flooded the DA subreddit, it stands to reason they are well represented in the likes and dislikes for the trailers.

Silly. Bioware games get brigaded routinely by culture war tourists. They flooded the chat, they flooded the DA subreddit, it stands to reason they are well represented in the likes and dislikes for the trailers. So Bioware's lack of success in the past few years is because of "brigading"? Just sounds to me like a very hard case of cope. Take Andromeda for example. That game was trashed even before it was out of the gates. In many cases, I thought that was unwarranted, I actually had a great time playing it. Doesnt change the fact that while Andromeda is a good game(to me at least), its also a terrible Mass Effect game and suffered from glaring technical issues at launch. So while i didnt agree with some of the criticism, I think it was totally understandable. And Bioware deserved the backlash. But I remember a lot of people saying Andromeda failed cause trolls and haters made it crash with all their memes.. Well, the memes existed for a reason. Give a good product and you get rid of "brigading", or in the very least the brigading will be drowned with people praising it.

In terms of art style, and atmosphere, it did remind me a lot of Harry Potter of all things - mixed with Dragon Age Inquisition.
With this in mind, I can certainly relate with people's thoughts about the stark change in atmosphere from Origins which was more Lord of the Rings in style.
One factor that I think some miss is DAV is set in quite a different place geographically, and culturally, to anywhere we've been before.
Tevinter is, one of, if not the most developed country in all of Thedas. It's blend of imperial wealth and magical dominance should create something we've never seen before in the Dragon Age.
Ferelden by comparison is fairly backwater. Therefore it makes sense that Ferelden is pretty brown and dull by comparison, and, that there's a stark difference between Denerim and a Tevinter city - there should be.
Granted the visual changes to demons is pretty lame.

In the beginning of the demo there was the awkward scene where Rook insists they have to help random NPC woman accused of a crime by the authorities. I wonder if this dialog only occurred because Rook had the Shadow Dragon background? Wanting to help would fit that background. He might not say that if you chose a different background? Its not like an Antivian Crow would typically insist on helping random people. Since the dialogue icons on the wheel looks like those in DA2 (the purple laughing mask is back!!!). So they might have gone back to that tone system, where auto-dialogues is based on the tones you picked earlier (or highest depending). And they might have added some background stuff to it.
Also, the demo doesn't start right after character creation. From the dialogue with Varric as they exit the building at the very start, they fought some Venatori in a bar earlier.
only thing I didn't like about DA2s system. If there are multiple options we should get to pick them.

Pretending that's not a thing is some heavy duty copium, if anything is. And maybe I'm being petty (Tom Petty), but the fact that these little wieners are so angry the gameplay trailer was good and the reception so positive only makes it that much sweeter: I wouldn't have it any other way.

Yes I'm hoping there is more to that scene and that you have already met that woman or have more information about what is going on. But from what they showed us, Rook just randomly wants to intervene in a police arrest . . . which makes no sense whatsoever. If we don't know the person then why would we even consider helping them? No one goes around 'helping' random people avoid what is likely a normal police arrest! Or perhaps its not an arrest and the authorities are about to zap and kill her with magic or something? But there isn't enough context for what's happening in the demo and it just makes Rook look stupid or that the writing is bad. Just one more poor marketing decision with the demo!

The Truth is somewhere in-between as it usually is. BioWare is the architect of it's own troubles over Andromeda and Anthem. That said there is a very militant far-right gaming sect that does brigade games and games companies they don't like. Just yesterday I saw some preposterous young woman on YouTube ranting about how Corrinne Busche (of all people) was ruining Dragon Age because of their orientation and gender preference! Such a lot of hogwash. The hysterical thing is I could tell the YouTuber was probably like 8 or 9 when the last Dragon Age came out!

MC is a Shadow Dragons. The official description on the website is "A resistance opposing corrupt rulers and slavery in Tevinter. They are determined to bring justice to the people". Looks like saving random civilians from the tyrannical rulers is exactly what they do to me.
Now if all the others also have the same reaction...that's another story.

Exactly, it is meant to be colourful and culturally and technologically more advanced than the south at least where magic is concerned. Dorian says they still value their ancient buildings but that doesn't mean there wouldn't be innovation as well. I loved the floating building that is presumably the Archon's palace or possibly the Circle of Magi (it is a ring structure after all). However, I thought they were both at ground level so may be that is just a government administrative building. What I liked is that Minrathous does appear to be being done properly, not just one small area like we had with Val Royeaux. There seemed some suggestion that perhaps it had to do with the disturbance at the inn that Rook had been involved in. Perhaps we are missing some context that was left out of the demo. Referring back to the initial reveal trailer, I was wondering about that group that was attacking Varric and Harding. Some You Tubers have suggested they were Venatori because of the logo on their hoods but I'm not so sure, even if they were attacking them later. Could they have been Tevinter Sicarri, part of the spy/security network? Tevinter were not keen on the Inquisition continuing and even if it has disbanded, they would likely know its former members. I don't think the Magisters like other people treading on their turf. Alternatively, could the authorities being upset at the disturbance be an indication that the Venatori have got friends in high places? Tevinter Nights suggested that money and status talks in Tevinter, so we could have been reported for the disturbance even though Varric and Harding appeared the victims. May be the woman was being used as bait to draw out Rook because they had already made enemies and had a reputation for intervening. In this demo he was a Shadow Dragon and I assume they have begun to ruffle a few important feathers.

I’m curious if that scene will change if we don’t fight at the bar, since according to some sources we can avoid fighting there with certain dialogue choices.

It's funny that Varric thinks he can persuade Solas to stop yet Solas wasn't going to stop for his LI.
The hat the female wore looked like she just came from her graduation ceremony. Hopefully she can wear a different hat. I do like her shoe's. Hopefully the main character is able to craft companion outfit's to wear.
Will there be a different outfit to wear depending on what background is chosen?
Varric look's like one of the npc's in Fallout 4 from the Nuka World dlc.
Hopefully there will be more gameplay shown. I like to see mage gameplay.
