It's getting ridiculous that Taash is among the companions that were shown the most and yet she still doesn't have a normal in-game screenshot of her lol. It's either a weird angle or a weird expression or both or it's in a very bad quality. I like the 2nd and the 3rd the best. Because she doesn't look angry their and you see her face proper.

I agree partly the new pics angle makes her face more massive and masculine, if you think in gender boxes. But as shown, she have also pics where she looks quit soft and feminine. Not my typ (i am not so a qunari fan), but i can work with her.
I hope for a ingame look at her. Because in the gameplay trailer the companions looks the best in my eyes.

Disappointed with the Q visuals. As you say, depending on the angle or the lighting or did Bio once more changed the Qs to blue people? Taash remind me of the Smurfs. So far, Bio is not consistent regarding Taash's facial appearance and I wonder why the studio chose to do so, ignore it or QA missed it.
For Dragon hunting I'll take Taash with me. Otherwise, she stays in the cooler.

There's a bluish tint to her skin...but it still looks grey.
Seeing her in different lighting will change the appearance of her skin, like it does nearly everyone else.

Bio is not consistent regarding Taash's facial appearance and I wonder why the studio chose to do so, ignore it or QA missed it. They've been constantly changing the appearance of the Qunari. I think this was partly the result of allowing us to play one, so they humanised the appearance and allowed different skin tones. In some ways we are getting back more to how Sten was in DAO. There he was just a large, brown skinned, grey haired human in appearance, with normal eyes and no horns. What made him different was his mental attitude and philosophy. Then in DA2 then went full on with the alien appearance, with a deeper, darker brown/grey skin, black eyes and horns. Let's face it, the Arishok looked awesome and no one could mistake him for just a big, grey human. They explained the lack of horns in Sten as a variant (like hornless cows) and that applied to the eyes too I think. Then we got Iron Bull, whose skin was lighter and basically grey and back to normal human looking eyes, but I always thought his head looked too small in proportion to his body. His face still looked structurally different from a human but not as alien as the Arishok. Notice also the addition of stubble, which neither Sten nor the Arishok had. Then came the Viddasala where we were back to darker grey/brown skin, the tone depending on the lighting, but much softer, more human facial features but with a stronger, dare I say it, more masculine bone structure. Are the qunari that different between male and female? So, at this stage, I think perhaps the differences can be explained by the fact that among the qunari as a race there are many different skin tones, just like among humans and Taash is not so very different from the Viddasala in appearance, so the females of their race hint far more at their human (or elven) origins than the males do. Also, with regard to Taash changing appearance, may be that has to do with the lighting. Her hair in the shot further up the page looks dark grey, yet her hair is definitely white, so perhaps that is why she looks to have blue skin in that light. Also, the qunari do have different skin to other races in terms of its toughness, so perhaps that gives it other qualities too such as the way light interacts with it.

I think the reveal trailer has issues with most companions shown, in terms of fidelity. Davrin and Emmrich also looked different in that trailer compared to the most recent one, and by looking at all of Taash's screenshots, the reveal one is the one that is most different from the rest. Compared to other characters, though, Taash was also shown in weird angles and lighting, so we don't have a clear-cut shot of her face, outside of the preorder armor shot, which I think was mentioned as the best indication of her apperance. Hopefully next week, in any case, they'll showcase in the trailer with more normal angles and lighting. I'd say that it's perfectly fine to not like her appearance (even if I don't personally share it), although we know little of her personality, so maybe she can grow on you in that regard. A character can be interesting and cool even if their physical appearance isn't of your liking.

Don't know if you've noticed but that earring she is wearing has a face on it. It is clearer in the trailer. Is it just some random coin she picked up and had made into an earring or is it significant?

They made qunari more human in the face so they could use all the same facial animations for the inquisitor, and now rook, I imagine. Understandable, though it is cool when you get play a very different looking species who gets their own facial animations like Dragonborn in bg3.
Shame they also ditched the black sclera though, a little goes a long way and that surely wouldn't be any more effort than their different skin colours in the cc, perhaps they struggled to make it look good in frostbite engine?

Taash breathes fire apparently. It would make sense if it was a magical thing, maybe she isn't comfortable or very good at using magic otherwise. Although I could see her carrying a bottle of alcohol and a match on her on occasions to make her own flamethrower.

I think it's more likely that her fire-breathing ability is connected to connection between qunari and dragon blood, and that her plotline could explore that connection.
It's just my opinion, but I think the character that will have more struggles with her magical powers is Harding, at least in regards of being new to it, and that companions like Lucanis and Taash would be more experienced and used to their abilities.

I'm thinking it's a dragon blood thing, as well... There's little indication it's something else, especially considering the hint in the reveal trailer. It's more curious on how she's able to actually draw from the dragon blood to use some abilities, but again, I think they'll explore that in more depth in the game...especially if there's some connection with the Evanuris.

So, with today's information... what are the odds that "Taash" is short for "Ataashi"? That's what I've been thinking ever since we learned her name. But it might just mean something like glory since Ataashi is "glorious one".

Not reading all 7 pages, but I find it interesting that she is not called Tal-Vashoth. Unless it is already implied that she broke away from the Qun.

It's hard to say if she's Tal-Vashoth ot Vashoth, since she was raised in Rivain. Maybe she's from northern parts of Rivain and was raised in Qun, but later became Tal-Vashoth. Ot maybe she was born and raised outside of Qun. Or maybe she wasn't even born in Rivain, but simply raised there.

Her name might imply either she or her parents were part of the Qun as that is their language. If she acquired her fire breathing talent at an early age, she may have been renamed as a result, or it may be a name she took for herself, but given it is specifically something the Qun give to dragons, her name must be linked to her ability. The northern part of Rivain around Kont-aar never really abandoned the Qun and that remains their one legitimate settlement on the mainland, so she could have been raised there and then abandoned the Qun when she objected to their strictures. I think it more likely that she is a second generation Vashoth, her parents being the ones who fled the Qun and then settled further south out of their reach but where people were accustomed to seeing the horned race so likely more accepting than in the rest of Thedas. It will be fascinating to learn her background story.
