I'm not sure if Lucanis being freed or escaping from his torture chamber to take on some Crow contracts from time to time makes sense. I like the explanation that the podcast is set at least a year before the Veilguard better Hopefully the timeline will be clarified at the end of V&V. This got me wondering though. It would be an intriguing choice if there were two ways to resolve Lucanis condition during the course of the game: we could either help him free himself of Spite's influence completely or have Spite take over. This is pure conjecture but in Inquisition we could push some of the companions into one of the two diverging directions. The consequences might be disastrous though, I'm not sure if Bioware would let us do something so evil to a companion now I think he took the original contract to protect Drayden's father a year before the events in the podcast. So, if that was also set a year before Veilguard, that would make his original involvement in 9:50 and the podcast 9:51. Of course, they never really set a date on the events in Tevinter Nights, so far as I can recall, but they did have one on the comic series involving Vaea. She was involved in the official events connected with Varric being made Viscount and this was implied to be immediately after the events of Trespasser in 9:44. Then after freeing Marius and Tessa, they headed north in pursuit of the Orlesian guy with the idol. They arrived in Ventus (Qarinus) just before the attack of the Antaam and saw it fall. So, that would be around 9:45/9:46 at the latest I would asssume. Also the author confirmed that when she appears in Tevinter Nights that was when she was journeying north before the events of Deception. In Three Trees to Midnight, Strife had obtained intelligence that the Antaam were going to attack Antiva next and the Talons were also anticipating this in Eight Little Talons.
At the end of Dark Fortress the mage flees with the idol, whilst Solas watches through an eluvian. He is the same mage who appears in the Mortalitasi's tale in Dread Wolf Take You and is killed by the Dread Wolf. Whether or not the idol actually ended up in Rivain (as per Solas' story) the fact is he confirmed he now had it at the end of Tevinter Nights and was intending proceeding with his ritual. We also had a number of short stories issued since Tevinter Nights suggesting that Lucanis was dead and confirming the Antaam had now invaded Antiva. This would mean that if the events of the podcast were set only a year before Veilguard, which is set in 9:52, the Antaam had already attacked Tevinter and Antiva. Also, Lucanis was missing, presumed dead, unless that was a very late development in the story cycle. It would certainly be helpful if they could issue a timeline at least with regard to the events in the podcast and the comic series the Missing.

Found out something else about Lucanis: Six and a half inches and veers slightly to the left. And that's only his off-hand dagger. The main one, I'm not sure, but I hear it can go even deeper and dripping with Crow poison meant to mess up one's insides.

M Kirby @marykirby.bsky.social That's from the Ossuary, too. He hasn't exactly had a haircut in a while.

spite's number #1 fan @spitedellamorte.bsky.social How does Lucanis like his coffee? Black, tons of sugar, hot and/or, cold? @marykirby.bsky.social
M Kirby @marykirby.bsky.social Black.
virasaysdragons @virasaysdragons.bsky.social Oh man he'd hate how I drink mine 🥲 oat milk and flavor syrup... usually some sort of berry flavored coffee itself
M Kirby @marykirby.bsky.social As long as it's not boiled, or instant coffee, or whatever that stuff from a can is, he's fine with it. Or at least, he will only judge you silently for it.

Frotee @frotee.bsky.social As the next two weeks seem to stretch like years… Heeeyy @marykirby.bsky.social , is Lucanis a sweet or savoury treats kind of guy?
M Kirby @marykirby.bsky.social Sweet, because it goes better with his coffee. Savory, if somehow he is NOT drinking coffee at that moment.
