Maybe it spins to cast "Hypnotic Pattern"... it is a fascinator after all.

The hat looks like those stuff you put on the table so you can put your soup pot, or coffee and not leave mark on the wood.

I don't understand Tevinter fashion. They might be into recycling for the glory of the Empire.

Having given up on worrying about Spoilers, I been watching quite a few of the playthroughs, including those in which Neve features, and I have to say I am liking her more and more. Her tarot describes her as a cynic but from what I've seen she just seems to display more empathy and understanding why ordinary people might be tempted to take a bad path and thus is more forgiving as a result. I think her cynicism is directed towards people in positions of true power, especially if they abuse that power, and it is they she is more likely to condemn out of hand. Also, when people assume their natural gift of magic gives them an automatic entitlement and superiority over others. Hence her implacable opposition to the Venatori.
Yet the sense of style in her clothing is not pretentious but rather the opposite. She is not pandering and patronising, dressing down in order to try and appeal to the masses that she is one of them, yet unlike Vivienne she is not adopting that style of clothes in order to emphasise her rejection of what she once was and distancing herself from them. She just likes to dress that way. At least that is how I read her.

I don't get the "better than you" vibe from her, like at all. I just think she's seen some sh*te in her life and line of work, that she's become a bit jaded, lil bit a cynic - perhaps as a defense mechanism, even. But then, also working with the Shadow Dragons (and if you've read TN), it becomes clear that she's someone who still has hope, who's not dead inside. She's got a heart and a soul and a conscience, can still see the good in people and tries to do the right thing, against her better judgment, at times.
And I don't know why some people don't like her hat, lol. I think it's (she is!) stylish AF. It's all very, well... Neve! ^^

I wonder if her style of dress is middle class or is she 'dressing up' to attract more wealthy clients? She's a businesswoman so she probably dresses to impress, and her clients are usually wealthy people who want something handled with discretion since they can't or won't go to the authorities. I just compare her fashion to Dorian, who is an Altus Mage, who dresses in very prestigiously to highlight both his place in society and his mastery of magic (yes for most of the game he is a pariah and exile, but by the end of the game he is a Magister of Tevinter and the Ambassador of the Imperium for the Exalted Council). So I wonder if Neve's fashion is similar to Dorian's. Lots of serpent/snake motifs. Was it ever explained why modern Tevinter emphasised Snakes when they used to venerate Dragons?

IMO, the only character at the moment that doesn't look awful.
My issue with DAV is with what's been shown, I don't care about anyone or like the look of them. The two elves look very off. About the only character I would even consider romancing at the moment if I chose to do so.
Neve is the only one that was ok. Hope her personality and story make her more interesting.

She has broad features, and for reasons they make her pout and frown a lot (I thought she had a unibrown for a long time but no it's the constant frowning). To me she looks like a Qunari. And i think she's quite beautiful and expressive but can easily look bad. Neve is beautiful, but she has easy features. Heart shaped face, a nice mouth (Bellara with smaller mouth can look awkward with lip sync) she got a slight bump on her nose to give her character but that's that. Doe eyes.

Do you suppose there is a reason she wears her hair like that? There was a Sherlock Holmes story where this woman wore her hair like that because she had suffered an acid attack and was hiding the scars, so I wondered if Neve has suffered some sort of magic attack that scarred the left hand side of her face or made her lose an ear. Could that also be why she wears her fascinator angled steeply over on the right side of her head to prevent future damage? I feel there may be a story behind it.
Of course, there must be one behind losing the lower part of her right leg. Perhaps she will be able to compare notes with the Inquisitor about lost limbs.

I'm not the biggest fan of her fascinators. I would have thought something smaller would be more tasteful, with maybe more ornamentation for form. But then, this is Tevinter we're talking about. Also, aren't fascinators supposed to be primarily worn to formal occasions? Where does she go with those things?

I like the fascinator, but I agree it feels incongruous with what we know so far about Neve. Definitely interested to see that explored more, I’m big fan of fashion to better define character. I mean they already did something similar with Morrigan, in that she was cynical but had a penchant for pretty jewelry. Seems like Neve might be similar, except she was raised in Tevinter not a swamp.

I mean BioWare at this point has a history for a lot of impractical companion garb either for combat or the vaccum of space. Looking mainly at Miranda here.

STYLE! Noir detective and Ice Mage fashion icon, our Neve! I always thought it was inspired by royalty fashion. That explains the fascinator. On the whole you see them most at Royal Ascot and the ladies favour them because it does allow more of their face to be seen than some big ass hat (the dress code requires you to wear something on your head in the Royal Enclosure). Also easier to pin in place so less likely to blow off on a windy day. However, it doesn't explain the hair, even after the fascinator is removed. That was the main thrust of suggesting that perhaps that has more to it than just fashion.
