But i want play as Ice mage as well. Does that mean elementary mage is only fire, earth, storm and water? I take water then. There have never been specific water spells in DA before. It was always fire, earth, electricity and frozen water/ice/snow. Just because Neve is an ice mage and may have some unique spells specific to her, doesn't mean that Rook won't be allowed some ice spells as well if they choose. Once of our specialisms is mean to be elementalist. Back in DAO all the elemental spells were found in the Primal School. Then in DA2 and DAI they split them between elemental and primal, with fire/cold being classed as elemental magic. I'm guessing that there will be some basic elemental/primal spells that are available to you outside of the specialisation but it is likely that if you want to make the most of the one you choose, you will focus on something other than primal spells unless you want to be an Elementalist. Then when you get to the Specialism perhaps you will also need to choose which element you want to concentrate on. So, perhaps you can be an ice mage too but not exactly the same as Neve.

I found out when I watched the gameplay trailer I've been pronouncing Neve wrong since I first read it in Tevinter Nights.
I've been pronouncing it Neev like it rhymes with Eve but with an N in front. (As in Adam and Eve, Christmas Eve, short for evening etc)
But in the trailer they've been pronouncing it Nev - like the nickname for Neville, rhymes with Bev (short for Beverly.)
That's going to take some getting used to since I've been pronouncing it the other way for a few years now.

Going by how she's an ice mage and neve is snow in Portuguese...I think she's just Neve.

How long until we deal with ice puns? It's unavoidable, both in game and the community.

companions only get like 5 powers, and 2 of them from the core class abilities not their spec. 3 unique ice spells and/or just variations on other existing spells isn't so very much. Neve being the only one with an "ice mage" spec may only be because Rook's elemental spec isn't ice exclusive but has spells for all elements anyways.

Yes, Rooks elementic spec has all elements. But every element have its own branch.
Maybe I expect too much. I loved Final Fantasys X large skill tree. Hope they don't have cut him down and make it HC only. Would be a shame.

Corinne said the skill tree borrowed heavily from FF 10 and 12 so I expect it to be immense given what I've seen of that in screenshots.

Well, I can tell you this: we already can't control Companions. If Neve's given all the cool Ice spells, I'll wither and die slowly and horrifically out of sheer envy and frustration. I like a unique Companion as much as the next girl, plus, women supporting women (love you like a sister, Neve! #LILAS), but this would kill me.

But let's say, Neve (and only Neve) has access to Veilguard's version of (DAI's) Ice Wall, or Blizzard, for example. I *will* cut someone.

But for those wishing to play an Ice Mage, as well, I suppose equipping Neve with the two core mage abilities (which I'm gonna guess are Barrier + either Fade Bolts or something like Dispel, maybe even Heal), plus one ice-based ability from her unique skill tree, doesn't sound too bad.
I love Neve's ice staff/scepter, too. She has such a cool design!

Obviously we don't know and obviously this will probably be wrong but it does sound like her...but the wife thinks that Neve is voiced by Gina Torres and now that it has been heard it can't be unheard.

So, it's mostly her leg position, as far as I can tell. That creepy magister shadow is still ominously lurking in the background.

God you know for the romances like I'd want to pick Neve but I am getting some sus vibes from her... So then I would default to Bellara for the first PT...but then I am getting sus vibes from HER.

Or altneratively we could find 'multiple' people to betray you and give you moral complications. Sure SOlas and Morrigan were the big ones but we also had Blackwall and Zevran which could 'betray you' and had their own agenda. So in this regard everyone could be a potential to betray you depending on your options...wouldn't that be fun?

I laugh sometimes that ultimately it may turn out that none of the companions will betray us - it may be us who will betray them! I actually would love to have that option, regardless how that betrayal would look like.
