I do not believe my daily horoscope predicts my life, no. That's silliness. I do find that Aries describes me very well, even moreso with moon in Virgo (which makes for a more quiet and careful Aries, rather than loud and boisterous). Like, incredibly spot-on. Uncanny, but potentially just all coincidence. By the Chinese zodiac, I am a Wood Ox and it fits pretty well also. As far as Myers-Briggs, ENFJ here. It's embarrassingly accurate, all the way down to the weaknesses.

All the crap I remember about horoscopes for the...Centaur is that he/she is supposed to be the Ultimate Carrier. Like a Harrier for everything.

I'm a Scorpio as well but I definitely have a stinger The way a Scorpio is described fits me almost word for word, the good qualities and the bad. I suppose you could say some of this stuff is applicable to almost anyone. I had a friend help me make an astro chart last summer and that also eerily fit my personality in a much more specific way. I don't really want to say I buy into it, but I do find it interesting. Then pick which one of the above fits you. Since it fits you perfectly you should have no issues figuring out which one it is.

So goddamned underrated. Classic Fincher As much as I hate to say it, for me personally, the attributes/character flaws of the Pisces describe me VERY accurately. It's an extra kick in the junk because many of said traits are weaknesses of the other signs

I have an extreme dislike for the Myers Briggs test. Why? The MBTI test is based on generalizations of people into Types based on very binary factors, for example Introvert/extrovert. And like all generalizations it fails to accommodate for the fact that people are more complex than that and rather random by nature. For example, I'm an ENTP but I can actually be pretty introverted sometimes and I've done a lot of illogical things because of my feelings. There's also the issue that the MBTI only shows you your preference for one or the other but doesn't exactly quantify your aptitude. You see, you can be a Thinking type but that doesn't mean that you're very intelligent or that you're smarter than a Feeling type and this can lead to rather misleading views on competence. The test is also self administered which means that it is subject to your own personal biases about yourself and can be easily manipulated to a preferred result if you so wish. The MBTI test is also rather lacking in any serious scientific backing Afaik. Finally like horoscopes, the test for the most part gives a rather positive outlook of your personality and in a way it tells you what you want to hear. Everyone is special! And this is prone to the Barnum effect which Tl;Dr simply means that people will believe what they want to believe. However, keeping these aspects in mind, horoscopes and such tests can be pretty fun to discuss with. Oh and I'm a scorpio btw.

I don't believe in the daily horoscopes in the papers but I do think there is something to the natal charts and the personalities. My mother was into astrology and she gave me a little basic formula on how to view the planets in your natal chart: your sun sign is your basic nature, your ascendent is what people see you as, moon sign is what you type of personality you're drawn to, mercury is how you think, venus is how you are in a romance and mars is, I guess sexual motivation. Her philosophy was that the rest of the planets didn't matter and that these were the key planets to look out for because they described your personality the most. She really wasn't big on the idea of astrology predicting the future, just the use of it as a personality&compatability guideline.

I've always believed in astrology and the supernatural, more between life and death and the likes, for that matter, my whole family has for generations tbh, we believe in it automatically within reason. I just rarely talk about it out loud since people has a tendency to judge.
But astrology definitely yes, I'm Gemini and I fit my sign perfectly IMO.

Same thing with religion. No real evidence there's a deity, but if believing in it gives you a sense of comfort, then all the power to you.
Personally, I find it interesting. Do I believe in it? I certainly don't let my star sign define me.

I certainly don't let my star sign define me. Well no, you can't let it define you but it can explain things if you know what you're looking at. Oppositions and squares in your chart can explain areas of difficulty, within yourself or with certain other people or there are also harmonious aspects that can explain why you get along with or are attracted to certain people too. Does it work all the time? Of course not, their are too many variables, do I think it's some kind of celestial influence, no, but I have found that there is something to it. I don't know what, but sometimes it's bang on. In Chinese Astrology I'm a Fire Sheep

I don't know anyone personally that really believes in this stuff, but horoscopes are always good for a laugh. Which is then forgotten about ten seconds later. It's a good thing my parents didn't take it seriously, as if they did, I would not exist. They are one of those "Don't do this, you'll murder each other in a week" pairs- Scorpio and Sagittarius. I guess the 43 years of marriage is just a fluke, then. And if the placemat at the local Chinese restaurant has taught me anything, it's that I am the worst rat ever. Well, I'm honest. They got that right.

You see, you can be a Thinking type but that doesn't mean that you're very intelligent or that you're smarter than a Feeling type and this can lead to rather misleading views on competence. I snipped out the rest of your post because I don't really disagree with it. You make very good points. I did leave that one sentence because I have a different view of what the test means regarding Thinking/Feeling. It's not actually measuring your intelligence or trying to say that Feelers are not smart or that Thinkers are smarter/less emotional. It's more of a scale of what you place more value on. A lot of the questions that feed into the Thinking/Feeling aspect of the test are more value propositions than anything else. Such as asking whether you place more value on justice or mercy. An answer of justice will put more points in Thinking, whereas an answer of mercy will put more points in Feeling. Which is also not to say that a Feeler doesn't place any value on justice, just that if a gun were held to their head and they were forced to quickly choose which they lean towards more on a basic, primal level, they lean more towards being merciful than seeking restitution. I'm very strong in the Feeling category, but that does not mean I lack intelligence. It simply means I'm far more of a bleeding heart in general for most things. It also doesn't mean that I wouldn't want a rapist murderer to be executed, but maybe I'd lean more towards leniency for a kid that stole Twinkies from a convenience store. In a similar fashion, the Extrovert/Introvert part is not really indicating what you are outwardly to people - it's where you draw your energy from. Do you feel more energized at a party full of people or a rock concert, or is that more stressful and draining for you? Are you more energized by having some quiet time at home reading a book, or does that bore you? And then there are the ambiverts, that straddle that line and either/or work depending on mood, work/school stress, etc.

Aries here. I think, that's fit me somehow. I'm so hot-headed, impatient, protective, but never vindicative. If I can rage enough, I forgot, why I was angry before, or I'm able to forgive. (Sadly much people dont forgot that easily as I, and I not once was surprised, why someone treat me so weird...) I easily flare up for something, but this flame so quickly goes out, and I lose my interest (so many unfinished plan!). (And ENTP – this also fit me.)
Despite the fact that it fits me, I rather think, that's a funny thing, not a serious consideration.

all of the test results and various zodiac signs indicate fairly accurately who I started out as but none of them accurately define me, so I suppose those who allow themselves to be governed by the mumbo jumbo of the various interpreters of the signs will remain stuck to the description whilst others such as myself who haven't read a zodiac in decades are more likely to veer into cross over paths
I found the jung test result amusing, it suggested I was a natural leader but I can honestly say I have absolutely zero interest in leading anything ever and have only performed leadership tasks under protest (even if they always went well) the myers test results suggest i'm seriously empathetic but i'd rather chuck someone a dictionary and tell them to look between shit and syphilis most of the time....
that's not to say i'm some kind of emotiontless zombie its just that I have little tolerance for pointless drama, a deviation from who I was (because I used to be very good at that crap) because of things that have happened in my life....
No zodiac professional has predicted some of the shit that's happened so there about as accurate as a first generation patriot missile battery (less than 20% hit rate)
but just because the pretend soothsayers are not up to much in terms of predicting things doesn't mean we should necessarily ignor them out of hand, i'm sure that given enough time someone will figure it out and be much better at providing information, although thas not likely to happen until theres a quantum computer for every person on the planet to get their own personalised zodiac reading from... as for the supposed experts most of them are just snake oil salesmen making a fast buck off the deluded.

Virgo traits Strengths: Loyal, analytical, kind, hardworking, practical Weaknesses: Shyness, worry, overly critical of self and others, all work and no play Virgo likes: Animals, healthy food, books, nature, cleanliness Virgo dislikes: Rudeness, asking for help, taking center stage That's me, right there, in a nutshell, and I *am* a Virgo. No, you won't see me reading the horoscope in magazines and newspapers. *However*, the fact that people through the ages took time to put such info down and, depending on their culture, categorise human personalities using attributes of animals (mythical or otherwise, in Chinese Zodiac) or blood type (Japan, I think), or general health (Ancient Greece - Hippocrates) or the position of the stars when they were born (Mesopotamia and other countries), is quite interesting. Exploring human nature was something that people always did, and this was how they did it back then, applying the knowledge and understanding of the world they had. It's like asking me if I actually believe that there's a womanizing robe-clad dude on the top of Mount Olympus ready to shoot lightning up people's asses for looking at him the wrong way. I don't, but it's how Ancient Greeks believed the world worked back then, because they didn't have the knowledge that we have today. Other Ancient Peoples applied different reasoning, depending on their culture and understanding of the world. Sure, maybe it's laughable *now*, but who's to say that in a hundred years from now someone won't declare at some point 'Pfft, can you believe some of the things those idiots in the 21st century believed in? xD' And that... was me overthinking it. But, hey, I did warn you guys that I'm a Virgo.
