It’s funny how YouTube has been inundated with videos titled like “Why Players Hate Dragon Age’s Woke / DEI Character Creator”, “BioWare’s weird fetish with top surgery scars”, and “BioWare wages war against womanly curves”, all of a sudden, after yesterday’s massive success. Honey, they are getting desperate… 🙄 I don't even have a problem with people who want to give their character big ass and tits. But i'm confused by what people mean by "womanly curves", because in the videos that i saw fem Rooks had them, even if they weren't super thicc.

The clip doing the rounds appears to be an elven body model. It's being used to support a theory that every woman is flat chested. I suspect that's not the case, there are multiple body models, but until someone posts some, we're waiting on that evidence. I suppose this topic makes for a pleasant change from 'Cassandra looks like a man'...

Plus different presets also make a difference.
Honestly, all this talk about "womenly curves" makes me wish even more for Bioware to release CC early

Dragons Dogma 2's H-Cup breast sliders and Megan Thee Stallion booties got some of you folks thirsting waaay too damn hard lol And what's wrong with that, large breasts are unrealistic but modern day surgical scars in a medival fantasy setting are? My man, I'm literally just joking here. Personally, I don't much care but if people want those things, have at it.

Honestly, all this talk about "womenly curves" makes me wish even more for Bioware to release CC early At the very least they could do so as a beta or something so players could give them better feedback on body type variety is etc. It's almost a month till release, so i don't think our feedback will matter much. Especially if limited body customization is the result of technical limitations and not Bioware's crusade against "womenly curves".
I'm sorry, i have nothing against more options, because most games with CC don't even let me create someone who looks like me as far as body types go, so i sympathize with those who feel let down by CC for whatewver reasons (even if it's horny reasons! i play gachas, so i don't feel like i have any right to judge), but this whole discourse is both funny and sad to me, due to the kinds of opinions being shared in Skepticism thread. Sometimes i forget that people in the West can be just as awful as in my country, when it comes down to certain topics.

I don't care too much about the "woke" vs "anti-woke" debate, and even if this is a bait thread. There is an argument here. Personally, I usually only create male characters anyway. So this isn't a big deal for me. But there are women who would like to create themselves, and their body type isn't represented. Now that would be fine, but BW themselves have stated they wanted to be inclusive. Even adding things like top-surgery scars. That's fine too, but why not represent everyone? Why can't characters have large breast or butts? There is a clear double-standard here. And I think it's strange that people are labeled weird when they ask for these body proportion choices. Just as I think it's strange when people are called weird when they ask for trans choices or pronouns. It's just another choice. Why should people care if someone wants to create a character with a large butt, breast, or top-surgery scars. Its a game.

Yeah it really has become a bit ridiculous on either side. Like yes, can folks have this convo on body diversity without acting like trans folks are stealing attention from features they'd want as well and/or in a couple cases I saw stop shaming women asking for them? It's disappointing without the other added baggage that usually shows up. I would like to see perhaps this addressed in an update, which is always something they can implement in the future I would say.

I will add my two cents and point out that, on top of not allowing large-breasted women in the character creator, they also aren’t interested in allowing you to play a fat character OR allow the existence of any fat NPCs, stocky dwarves notwithstanding.
Technology has apparently jumped forward several centuries to the point where gender-affirming surgery is nothing special, but there’s no one in all of Thedas who is on the chunky side?
It just rings a bit hollow when people claim this is the “most inclusive character creator ever” and there are large swaths of the population not represented. I can make a fat pirate in Sea of Thieves; why not a fat Rook in Veilguard?

I get that there are practicalities with body shape for armor and particularly dealing with long hair. My Dwarven Inquisitor had bosoms like the Frostback mountains but each game is different. I'm pretty happy with what I've seen of the creator. There are totally curves. I think I'm going Elfy this time...

I just feel like people are nitpicking at this point, the CC is fine but it seems that some folks need to generate rage to get clicks considering that Bioware is the "woke" video game company.

I doubt that it's possible to give your character D cups, but based on what i saw i'm 90% sure that the combination of body presets, triangle body sliders and individual body sliders can give you different results.
And yeah, i also hope that Bioware will continue to support DAVe post release, including making improvements to CC.

If the main complaint is that some CC options offend the sensibilities of the "waaaah, woke!" crybabbies, that's actually a pretty strong mark in the games favor and strong indication its going to be a good one. Its a good sign if the main "flaw" isn't actually a flaw or negative in any meaningful way whatsoever.

I can make a fat pirate in Sea of Thieves; why not a fat pirate in Veilguard? To be honest, fatphobia is an issue that plagues every community - including the LGBT community - so I'm not surprised at that still being pervasive. We've actually had to get people to create custom chunky models for characters in BG3 -since that's the golden calf being used as the diversity standard in this discourse - just so Tavs and Durges could be such. Even Cyberpunk had all those bodytypes for NPCs in-game with no ability for you to customize yourself to that extent despite being in first person the entire time.

If you all want to be taken seriously by Bioware or anyone really, next time don't start your threads with "feminine curves" and "western developers."

Play on PC. There are always mods to help you create your ideal character. I've just reinstalled Inquisition last night and I plan on trying out a couple cosmetic mods for a change. Time to do my final playthrough and get ready for the Veilguard.
