Did Neve's final quest and I'm wondering if the dynamic for the confrontation with Aelia might have had a bit more pop if it was Calpernia as the companion instead: the former Venatori-turned-freedom-fighter vs the current Venatori who is basically a Corypheus wannabe, but with masters instead of being the master.
I dunno...maybe I'd like Neve better as not hardened but she's really not clicking for me as it is. I'm not going to see it though, at least in the short term. She could have still been in the game as part of the Shadow Dragons or a Minrathous contact for info (like Teia/Viago) but not a companion.
Met the mystery contact in Treviso
Now I just have to meet with the team, take out the traitor in Treviso, and head to the finale. I got all the statues but I'm missing 8 chests - 4 in the Necropolis and 4 in Treviso. been wondering the same with hardened Lucanis he has been pretty...uh, short...with me. Finding unhardened Neve pretty awesome though.

I'm glad my dwarf Rook could be pissed off at Solas about the whole Titan thing. He deserved it.

The only thing I'm missing is one chest in Arlathan apparently? But its not already on the map and I can't be bothered There is one hidden behind a statue puzzle in the middle of the map. Only activates the puzzle if you read a note nearby. And I think starts being available only around Act 2 or at the end of Act 1.
Yes, that's probably the one - just did it yesterday. It doesn't show up until mid/late Act 2 when Venatori cells are all over the place. Kill the Venatori, read the note, and the puzzle activates.
If you guys mean the owls, I have already done that one.

Through two playthroughs, I've only experienced "hardened" Lucanis. He's pretty awesome with my Rook, and has a very high bond. I will try to experience the alternate world next time, but it will depend upon my next Rook and how I feel in the moment. I've heard that there are elements of Lucanis' story that aren't experienced if he is hardened. I imagine the same must be true of Neve.
Awkwardly, my lowest bond for my current playthrough is with Taash, Rook's romantic partner. That's mostly a feature of their content coming later in the game than most others'. Taash's big Hero mission is on the agenda for tomorrow. Usually, the bond rises by more than one full level after a companion mission. I expect Taash will easily reach Bond 10 before the end.
Again, I played way too much to recount all of it. I completed the Hero missions for Bellara and Lucanis, as well as Harding's follow-up mission. I picked flowers this time and got the "In Peace..." trophy. That was the only one I missed during my first playthrough, so that also granted the Platinum Trophy for 100% Veilguard.
I swapped one ring for another, a Stagger ring for a Damage ring, and my Warrior got even stronger. I was overly invested into Stagger, with more than enough to drop that ring. As soon as the damage ring reached Legendary, I made the switch. Yesterday, I said that I think I enjoyed the Spellblade more than the Champion, but I'm really not sure. They're both a lot of fun. The gameplay is completely different. The devs really did an amazing job of making the different archetypes feel unique. A high-level Champion, parrying High Dragons, constructs, and darkspawn in the face, is amazing. All the while, you're incinerating enemies with crazy fire damage. It's hard to say that anything is more fun.
I'm going to miss playing as a Grey Warden when this one is complete. I'll miss my huge, grey Rook. I'll definitely revisit him. He's too cool to never walk in his shoes again. My next Rook will look and feel so puny after so many hours with this horned giant.
I think my next Rook will be a female elf Veil Jumper Rogue (Veil Ranger). I intend for her to romance Davrin, but that could evolve differently once I'm playing. I think I'll use Erika Ishii's voice #2, medium pitch. From what I heard of it, she did an excellent job. I'll just have to stick with it long enough to hear Rook instead of Erika.
After that, I'm thinking a female human Shadow Dragon Mage, using voice #1. Maybe she will be the one to romance Lucanis? It's way too early to even guess.
Eventually, I want to play a Warden Mage, maybe a human woman. That idea was one of my earliest, but I usually play first as a man. She's been bumped down the list, but I'll get around to her.
I might get burnt out soon, likely after my third playthrough; but I'll get around to each of them, eventually. I don't think I'll have any trouble jumping right into playthrough #3 after Sataari'uuk has completed his story. I'm still loving the game, and have that alternative world state to experience.

If you guys mean the owls, I have already done that one. There's a hidden puzzle that doesn't appear until after you've fought Venatori in Arlathan. There's a low lying, semi-circular area in roughly the center of the map. If you hang a left after crossing the fallen tree bridge near the zone entrance, you'll walk into it. There's a gatehouse and portcullis on the Eastern side of it, leading out to the shipwreck area that's always full of trouble. There's an elven dragon statue near the center of the dell. If it's glowing, the puzzle is available. You have to read a note near the statue to initiate. Then, you'll be able to interact with rotating statues.

In the middle of the finale.... Lost Harding during the Ghilly fight - sorry, not sacrificing Assan! Found all the wolf statues in Fade prison to unlock the chest. Escaped and had long overdue sexy times with Davrin. Now on to Minrathous.

I forgot to mention (in my overly long post above) how Nightmare is going. The Champion is tough and effective, and even his damage becomes strong as levels accrue. So, it's going well with no hiccups.
That said, I will probably play Custom difficulty going forward. Some enemies have so much health that they overstay their welcome. Ideally, you want a strong challenge but not a grind. Nightmare might be slightly grindy at times. I think I'll keep all of the Custom Enemy options at Maximum. Their health, though, I'll drop to Standard/Adventurer. That keeps the enemies aggressive and hard-hitting, but lets them die before they become a nuisance.
One bit of Custom UI I'll highly recommend is to turn off the Melee Parry Indicator. In my opinion, the thing just fogs up the battlefield. You can see when an enemy is trying to strike you in melee. In my opinion, you can learn proper timing much more easily by watching the attack itself. I didn't Git Gud at parrying until I turned off the melee indicator. Now, it has become easy.

Did some side quests and companion quests. Mostly stuck on who to romance. Dorian being sassy about Solas’ wardrobe in DAI.
Finished Neves quest. Nice to be able to pick the less dubious option. Followed by a Romantic moment with Neve. Really liked this scene, just not for this Rook.
Helped Emmrich go to a haunted mansion. Really like that place. Once again ending with an opportunity for a romantic moment with Emmrich. Kinda dig their chemistry, but I should be focusing on the ones I haven’t seen yet.
Same situation with Davrin. Both cases I never flirted with them, makes the soft commitment dialogue slightly different. Interesting to experience the smaller differences. Both cases I reloaded to before the conversation. Putting it off for a bit.
Helped Harding go see an old friend leading to yet another romantic moment with a companion. Also a really sweet scene. Also, in the middle of the scene the color variant of Rooks outfit randomly changed.
Gonna be difficult to figure out who to pick as a romance. Rook has great chemistry with Taash, but Bellara is also really cute with him. Because of Taash’ cutoff point, I have to decide soon.

Finished PT number 2! I'll do pics tomorrow, this is just a summary.
Assignments: Neve broke the bindings and got abducted
Bellara with the Veil Jumpers to break the wards Lucanis with the Crows to kill the mage (Teia stabbed her) Taash with the Wardens to bring down the colossus and later to defend while the rest headed for the palace Everyone had Hero status so no casualties Brought Davrin and Bellara for the god-killing missions - very appropriate for 3 elves to tell their former gods to F off and stop screwing with the world.
I used the Mythal essence again to free Solas from her service and choose to protect the Veil. Then I reloaded to do the trick him option.
Got the secret epilogue this time Got all achievements now. Glad there isn't one for Nightmare since I don't wanna play on a higher difficulty. Combat isn't overly hard but I don't like having to swap gear to match weaknesses, especially when it's so hard to find stuff I like and it takes forever to unlock all the attributes. I liked a lot more of the mage gear (or maybe just Warden?) than I did rogue gear. Now, since I plan on running a Crow next time, I suppose I'll go rogue again....they don't really have warriors, do they? Hmmm....

Alaria Thorne, Elven Grey Warden warrior PT #2 has begun - just arrived in Arlathan Forest. So far, blocking is far easier with warrior than with rogue. Shield throw makes me think vibranium is a common substance for shield making. It's silly, but also kind of fun. Also the hints about Varric are there...I just didn't notice them the first time around.

Dragon Age continues to be a mood. This game continues to vibe with me. Not always exactly what I expected in some ways but it just continues to hit pretty much all the notes I thought it was going to hit going into the game. Now maybe it could've focussed more on such concepts and went further into the weeds as we had intricate plot lines as we solved each one of these factions problems in total...but then again the strength of this games story is I think they knew it didn't need to do that either. It didn't need to bite off more then it could chew. It had very specific story objectives to solve and has focussed a lot of its attention on them and wrapping up a lot of loose ends, but presumably there will be more stories within Thedas so they are also actually doing a pretty good job in setting those up as well. Which if I can wax a little on the eloquent side while neither franchise could be blamed for this in its own way since they didn't have this kind of story space both Star Wars and the MCU have struggled to find any forward momentum for their stories in a post TROS/ End game world. But here they are taking some time to just set up that tale and where they might be going from here while having a definitive ending for the 'Veil Saga'. Really well done though I do wonder if they aren't being a bit too thick on the setup, but then they can't gurantee a player will do everything so might as well have multiple references and the fun thing is the Companion stories have covered a full multi layered gamut of this kind of stuff. Other thing to note suppose in a lot of ways this was an *obvious* direction to take the franchise and yet I have seen no one talk about it either. Spoilers of course but just no real hints at what they have just done for the Quanri. And again, pretty casually to. Other note got the achievement for the LoF story line today and...yeah half suspect that someone at BioWare was like 'cool pirates' 'but we don't know what to do with them' 'yeah but cool pirates.' Though since the Lords storyline ties into Taash there is some lore explanations there and also did like the final note on the 'Warden Grey' arc. But bring this up because I will probably in future playthroughs look up which quests to do which specifically count for them and which do not that way I can trim some of this fat because the puzzles I did not enjoy...and also again this might end up costing the game the 'perfect score'. Still having four of the six maps be important and four of the six faction storylines relate pretty directly to the plot is a step up from Inquisition's since we probably only got like four maps mattering in that game...OK slight hyperbole. Maybe. The One with the Bone baby (my wife's idea)So getting back to the Lighthouse after Emmrich gave up Lichdom for Manfred and we had him revived to full and to full sentience. Though I was still not expecting this, one of my fan teheories that admittedly did turn out to be wrong here is that always thought that based on the skelly boy we saw in the concept art that somehow Manfred would replace Emmrich on the squad based on certain choices. Instead he becomes a magical member of the Mourn Watch and well he is starting to get quite...talkative.
And his revival scene was one of the most beautiful scenes I have ever seen. The music here is always a mood but just Emmrich giving Manfred a hug and just all the joy in the two finding one another again and in him performering his latest necromantic right.
I forgot to mention here though that Emmrich's arc has just become so beautiful, him and Bellara defintiley duel for favorite character, but his might be one of the best arcs in the entire series.
And I forgot that I actually took Lucanis and Emmrich in the field the other day and they had a lot of interesting things to say about moving on. Lucanis pointed out that he would have to leave everyone behind, Emmrich was all like 'but I can make new experiences'.
And yet, here, now, he decides to risk death for what is effectively his son. The true meaning of any parent, to continue their legacy for the next generation. There is even so much implied and not exactly stated outright. That Emmirch was so afraid of death and yet chose to sacrifice himself for...well his friend. That he decided, with Rook's help, that Manfred was indeed the one person he couldn't live without.
Oh and the wife wanted to make sure that I included how much she also liked the hug and the moment. The One where the tablet gets translatedAnd this pretty much went exactly how I was thinking it was going to.
The Qunari translator mentioned that this was a secret that was too dangerous to be really shared and it had to be kept safe. They talked about the First Expedition to Thedas there and what it could mean.
They talked about the creation of the Qunari, or at least some of them, a mixture of Dragon blood into the race in order to protect them and make them strong. As a side bar though think this also explains just why the Qunari are so 'volitile' in their bearing because of this genetic engineering. So much why they need to be controlled because of their nature.
And what were they being protected from? The 'Devouring Storm'. Seems to be related to 'those across the sea' or the Executors. Had this basic idea that the Humans were fleeing from something in ancient times which is why they came to Thedas. Maybe even the Quanri who were also fleeing from something in sort of this vicious cycle. I likened it to some of the back story of the Flood/ Forerunners/ Humanity from Halo which was one of my most looked forward to fan theories. I rather liked the idea and these ideas in general...for some reason.
And turns out the First Expedition was fleeing from something, they were scouting Thedas out originally in an effort to colonize it, they got sick, they died (the Blight?) and from there the Qunari eventually came along.
Thus Taash's arc, not only about being their own search for identity and now the responsibility of it, ties into the Executors.

So I’m at the halfway point in the final act. And I’m just gonna say, if Solas wants to have a shot at living thru this (assuming I get to make that call), he better have a damn good set of interactions with me. Soon. I’m tired of hearing other characters speak for him and talk about his goodness deep down. Even the man he killed still tried to advocate for him. Solas needs to *prove* there’s something redeemable there or I’m ending him. Lavellan will deal.
If the goal was to make me want to kill him, mission accomplished, writers. So far this is definitely the most dramatic finale they’ve had since origins, tho.

- Returned to Treviso with Lucanis and Neve and visited the memorial with Teia and Viago. Earlier I heard Jacobus starting to cough, that doesn't bode well. Man, not saving Treviso is slowly breaking me! There's some real mean consequences here. I also love that you get completely different quests for both cities depending on whether they are saved or not. That is really great and keeps replays interesting. Tracked down Zara next and ended her in a pool of blood. All's well again with Lucanis! That was quite fast. - Helped Neve with a Threads quest in Minrathous and saved Makal Damas in the end. Took the deal, and flirted plenty along the way - In Arlathan Forest some Veil Jumpers were missing (twice!), so Luna took care of it. Found the Jumpers that played with artifacts and also saved the remaining Jumpers from Anaris and Bellara's brother. Also found the blighted mayor and fought him, that was a neat surprise for him to show up there. Caught a wisp with Neve afterwards and she and Luna almost kissed. Can't believe they pull that stunt off in almost all romances apparently - Went to the Hossberg Wetlands and took care of some things. Cleared out some Venatori at Gaspin Manor, killed a demon. Defeated the Forgotten One next, saved Warden Beckett (interesting to see it play out withough the mayor there), then found Oskar and delivered the news to Flynn. Went to the Dragon lair with Taash and had a heart-to-heart.

So I did a veil quest where something about the past of Solas and Felassan as his General Huh... Entered the Grey Warden stronghold, or what was left of it and amazed at the Griffon and whole place! Davrin seems to be tough one, not sure what or who he is yet. But a Griffon ! Yeieieieiaaa hehehe. Sorry had to let out some squeals. Still, the others are taken by the spirit . Not sure about that either how to solve, maybe later then. And Necropolis. Oh man. Quite epic fights and I always love to defeat Ice Bitches (DAIMP ptsd). Sorry Treviso I had to choose. That is a dragon! Jeez, at least I wounded it somehow Overall: Huh, I swear it was not 4 hours I played, but time flies when you have great fun! got more inside the combat mechanism too. Got some chills from the musics and places again. Next: Rivain? Yes. Some new areas also opened, and it seems there are new quests in the cities

Pics from yesterday - last of Act 2 and all of Act 3 spoilers
Had a couple things to finish up in Treviso before starting the finale Probably not the best idea to be thinking about the future before ending the apocalypse but sometimes it can't be helped The time-table just got accelerated Landing and distracting One down This image is creepy - definitely got the demon/devil vibe going I somehow missed the final chat in my first game All hands on deck, everyone's here Up against a god
First ending i.imgur.com/75XeVXU.pngi.imgur.com/LLg3rUV.pngWhile this ending can be considered 'satisfying' in regards to Solas, I prefer the one where he goes voluntarily because then he will do what he can to soothe the blight. Also, why bother with the Mythal essence if you aren't going to use it.
Now, for PT #3....I'm still waffling. I read a blurb on the identity of the Viper and now I kinda wanna see how that plays out by saving Minrathous.....also, some new content would be welcome. Ugh!

I made 2 new characters, one of them twice because I forgot to 'accept changes' instead of 'leave customization' when I was done. And of course the second one is never as good as the first. Only did the minimum with Inq's though (no pics).
First is Ulric Mercar, Warrior Inq in this game is the second one I played, Julia Trevelyan, Knight Enchanter (before the nerf), romanced Cullen.
And Daria de Riva, Rogue. She's the one I had to remake. The first one was better, imo, but I have no idea which head morphs I was using. Also need to fix her mouth and do something with the lipstick. I don't like how the colors in the palette don't match what shows on the character in the CC. But, looking at her in game, that seems to be the color I picked? Inq for this one is Neralah Cadash (ugh, spelled her name wrong in the CC), Champion, romanced Blackwall.

Harding woke up and chose violence today. Not a screeny from this save but definitely the face she was pulling during that convo. I think. I was busy doing the not dying. Taash: I got them ready for you Harding: I'd rather die first Then Rook tried to offer the enemy some mercy but she was just "No, they die " Granted Rook did tell her being "Big mad" is okay so...reaping what was sowed. Fought the urge to rush the main quest and did the companion side quests first. Wrapped up the Lucanis quest and have decided I like Illario way too much. Spoilers for Lucanis quest. His voice is so cheesy . And his banter is so pleasant. 10/10 would get stabbed in the back (or the front). Any time, any place. And love how he goes "Nothing personal Rook" if he gets a good hit in during his battle. And Harding's quest area is still too freaking beautiful. Both the start and the end. Then got to enjoy a bit more of the main quest, which was nice. But now need to wrap up the last few ends. Or well, last lot's of ends since I've been pointedly ignoring the Crossroads and the Caretaker is just about ready to throw hands with me.

Only some smaller comments. Mostly did optional crossroads stuff. Had a talk with Davrin about his carvings… It’s extra funny when my short king asks if Davrin can make his one taller than the rest.
Emmrich asking about how I want to be buried and no option for elven specific funerals. Just like him talking about the fear of dying had no special option for my warden.
Ok, Saboteur is actually super fun to play and Bellaras Galvanised Tear is amazing. Well, I’ve done everything I can/want, so now I have to either commit to Taash or let them down. I’m planning to come back and try the other options anyway, but I'm also getting a bit fatigued by the thought of having to redo too much, so it’s not a guarantee…

Today, I added a couple more to the Heroes Club. The quests just keep coming, don't they? I don't mind at all, but there's always more to do. Taash I'd read that a romanced Taash could be nudged in one of three directions: to lean Rivaini; to lean Qunari; or to embrace both. That sounds cool, but I was skeptical. In the end, though the scene was different, it was still a binary choice. (No pun intended.)
I encouraged her to live as a Rivaini, even though I'd love to have the Qunari-themed armor. I'd never encourage anyone outside the Qun to take it to heart. Yuck. Taash and Emmrich have great banter, particularly after they agree to understand one another better. Davrin We saved the gryphons from the darkspawn that was once Warden Isseya. We set them free to live in Arlathan. Again, I think I'd prefer to have the other armor, but these beasts shouldn't be shackled to the Wardens. Tomorrow, I have yet another visit to Arlathan with Davrin. (This dude definitely wants to retire to Arlathan, no?) Then, it's off to face Emmrich's nemesis. After, we'll help him achieve his life's ambition. I also have several things to do in Minrathous, and a final mission in Treviso. I probably won't reach Act 3 tomorrow, but I think I'll get close.
