Mass Effect Andromeda Multiplayer Beta (cancelled)

Well, you should take a look at it now. It's a completely different game than it was in beta or even shortly after release and they add new stuff, mission, quests etc. on a regular basis. That is exactly the reason ME should do the same... a game like this can become very good if you have extensive betas and listen to players. Bioware usually did the opposite: nerfed the shit out of everything, did buffs that were useless and with all the balance changes they did the game is still imbalanced AF to be honest. Hasn't kept me from playing, but there is so much more potential in MEMP if a team could really focus on it and also develop it together in parts with the community.

Non-disclosure agreement. It's a legal contract that basically says "I will not tell people about things you want to keep secret, and if I do, you will sue me."

First, it depends on if this is a beta or a demo.

A beta implies unfinished game but approaching finished status) and the developer is seeking feedback from a selected group of people to tell them bugs found, things that seem weird/need improvement, suggestions for making the game better, and stuff like that. Stuff they can either tweak before the game launches, or build into a patch that will come out later, or ignore entirely. Generally, players submit this feedback through a private/secret forum or using survey links provided by the developer. Helping with a beta like that is just what it sounds like - helping to identify issues and submit feedback. It is not a party for you to bring your friends into/take video/share with the world UNLESS the developer says that's okay. More often than not, it is NOT okay and you have to sign an NDA and then risk legal action from them if you proceed to break that NDA and tell the forum all the pretty shiny things you saw in the beta. A beta isn't for hype - a beta is to try and do your part to assist the devs with making the game as good as possible at launch. It doesn't make you a BioWare (or any other game company) employee, but you should approach it with that manner and seriousness.

If it's a demo, that's generally a game that's about ready to release and the point of the demo is to be public and raise hype, while also possibly doing a stress test of how the game handles an influx of people suddenly playing it. Those don't require NDAs and you can share all the information your heart desires.

Not sure if we'll be able to say if we're in a beta if/when we get those emails (will depend on if there's an NDA involved and how extensive it could or could not be), but I can tell you I have not received anything regarding any future betas so far.

Yeah the look and "feel" of what little footage we've seen doesn't seem particularly appealing, it's got that weird overly crisp kind of thing.  Reminded me of Destiny and Warframe, neither of which I played past beta.

But maybe it'll be good.  Who knows.

If anyone gets chosen for the beta but aren't allowed to talk about it, just remember.... you can always pm me and tell me about it there, so that way I will know that it has started!!! And don't worry.... I can keep a secret... 😜

These days, and ever since the Halo 3 beta a decade ago, it's used for both. You crowdsource playtesting and build hype based on the hands on feedback for fans. That's literally the only reason why anyone says "hey, we have a beta! Sign up!" Otherwise, they can stick with the QA teams getting paid minimum wage to play the name non-stop for twelve hours a day for three weeks straight before they get laid off or fired entirely because they're no longer needed.

Betas and the people who play them, livestream them, and upload their gameplay clips to youtube are all part of pre-launch marketing and are factored in to the overall marketing strategy.
