A simple request.

Interesting suggestion.. I have to vote no though. As stated in OP, with a voiced protag it couldn't really work. But we may have the option to not use nicknames, or something else, like Kelly in ME2.

I found it awkward with everyone just using Shepard's last name in the Trilogy and actually prefer it when the developer at least gives the protag a suitable nickname (e.g. I would have preferred it if everyone just called Shepard "Shep" or Commander because that at least sounds like a plausible nickname substitute for a first name or if they had introduced an air force call sign, like "Loco" in the first game). Going a step further and allowing us to rename our squad just seems excessive. To compensate for it, the developers would either just avoid giving anyone lines with a person's name in it (which just seems too impersonal) or give everyone a nickname or call sign.

I do not care too much about the ability to change companions names...or my own for that matter, but I'd really love to be able to customize their look in the CC. And that should minimize the "why are the only straight romancable characters ugly!" complaints. And the first thing I'd do is get rid of Ascoon's wanna be Furiouso look.
