It's been explained, but since I was quoted I'd feel bad for not replying anyway  "Ajar" means "open," so the car was saying that one of the doors was open. Beerfish (or beerfish's character in this story) thinks his car is very stupid, and is calling the door a "jar." He is wondering whether the car will later claim that the door is a puppy or a coffee cup, because the car is so stupid that it doesn't know what a door is. The joke, of course, is that beerfish's character is the stupid one, for not knowing that "the door is ajar" means "the door is open."
