Ein Trabbi! Hahahaha.

They talk a lot of trash about it and they don't have a clue about East Germany or communism, but funny to see a Trabant in the US. It wasn't the only available car in the GDR, just the cheapest. They are judging an entire production line by an ancient, used car that clearly had several repairs. They talk about missing features when almost no car at that time had them. The windshield wipers don't rest in the middle of the windshield and the fuse box is missing the cover, that's not by design.
Most cars designed in 1964 didn't have an internal fuel gauge (Trabant got it in 1983), the passenger door could be locked and then closed and the car did have seat belts in front and back, although they were rather simple.
Of course a car designed in the 60s in the GDR didn't need speed. 100km/h was the maximum allowed speed on the Autobahn, 80km/h outside cities and 50km/h in cities.
That guy comes across as a jerk. This was a car built in a poor country that couldn't even afford to use metal. The car is plastic. Despite all that it performed just as well as a VW Polo in crash tests. And he laughs at it. Well, get any other cheap, small car from the 60's and compare them. Not bad for a country that had to improvise.
