The Three Body Problem
Was recommended to me by a guy I met in the scifi section of Barnes & Noble. I'm almost halfway through and I only find it somewhat interesting. I hope it picks up at some point.

Aesop's fables.
They are short and interesting.
If often poorly expounded and occasionally racist.

Presently reading this. It's an interesting take on people who were born with heterochromia also had differing abilities. One could be extremely good at swimming, another could be good at cooking and so on. Others had more powerful abilities, like fighting, snooping, mind reading, etc.

So continuing on with the reading of the Harrington series... I'm almost there. Mission of Honor ended up being another really solid book. Thinking back on it there was actually...very little combat in the book itself and there was a lot of balls up in the air to juggle. But on the other hand it had some of the best writing in the series to this point especially with the 'Yawata strike' and the differing perspectives and spending like...three full chapters on it? Also watching Manticore and Haven finally burrying the Hatchet after so long was a definite point for celebration. A Rising Thunder is...might be a bit of an overstatement to say bad...but certainly the weakest Harrington Novel since they got off Hell. For those of you who have read Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series but he basically divided everything in two with Dance of Dragons and...something something Crows? Basically dividing the events of the series into two and only telling half the story over the same time period. Well Weber has esentially done the same thing with Thunder...but worse. It is thankfully much shorter but still...it actually starts a significant period of time before Mission ended and while it does show some other events going on at the same time from different perspectives...Honor herself doesen't actually appear until about a quarter of the way through the book and...worse still...it has entire scenes lifted...word for word...from the last book. They are small, but there are more then one of them.

The Fifth Season by N.K.Jemisin
So far it's damned good. I find some of what takes place to be very similar to the mage issue in Dragon Age.

So just finished reading the first 10 books of Empire of Bones by Terry Mixon and overall quite enjoyed it. I liked the characters, over all story and the ability of the main players to achieve through strategy, persistence and adaptability but a few new plot devices from book 7 were a bit too much for me and made the next couple of books a bit less realistic/credible because they could always pull a miracle out of a hat. Also by book 10 there are so many characters it started getting over whelming TBH. Still was a fun ride and now just need to wait for the next book, anyone or at Iakus know when it is due I couldn't find anything??? Also anyone with a kindle know how the kindle app works? I have been fortunate to be able to read nearly all of the ten books above for free through my membership (Kindle Unlimited) but was looking up some other books that say free via The Kindle App. It seems to apply that you can read them on a device or PC etc. but I couldn't tell if that meant they'd also appear on my kindle for free? Seems silly that books would be free with an app but not on the kindle!!!! Anyway after 21 sci-fi books in a row, thought what the hell and am going to read another one. A friend loaned me "Thin Air" by Richard Morgan who wrote "Altered Carbon I believe. books.google.com.au/books/about/Thin_Air.html?id=ua5LDwAAQBAJ&printsec=frontcover&source=kp_read_button&redir_esc=y#v=onepage&q&f=false

No idea why but I guess they've got their reasons for it. I use both the app and the actual kindle, works pretty much identically but in colour Terry Mixon has a website with a mailing list about new releases, not sure whether it is still actively updated or not. Usually it comes up as pre-order in kindle store with a date but I couldn't see or find it. Maybe it's not close enough to completion?

Well it's free so will check it out, can't hurt and a bit of colour would be good. I wish the Kindle could have colour just for the book covers. Found Mixon's website but didn't subscribe and yeah you can usually find a speculative date on one of the book websites but there is literally nothing that I can find anyway. Thanks for replying.

Re-reading this. I love the wife and husband team. Their books are very suitable for light reading, filled with humour and mystery. At the same time, I sit by with a cup of coffee / green tea and listening to Blade Runner Blues Vangelis on a loop.

Hey Obsidian Gryphon looked into these books on your recommendation and they look good and think I'll definitely read them. Put them off for now because there seemed to be a lot of them and wasn't sure I wanted to commit to another long series straight away and also am in Sci-Fi mode ATM. Thanks for the tip.

You're welcome. I'd hate to tell you but some of them are interconnected. The Kate Daniels 10 book series are by themselves. The Edge series and Innkeeper Chronicles are connected via magical interworld dimension; the background story of some chars that appeared in Innkeeper Sweep In Peace are in The Edge series. It's not essential to read The Edge; On The Edge. I recommended Innkeeper because, like I said, it's lighthearted and easy to get into. Moreover, there're some excellent illustrations in the books.

Prime has a separate, much smaller selection of books. I don't have Kindle Unlimited. So it appears prime are up to their usual tricks, have had problems with them before. So when I signed up for Prime Video it subscribed me to Kindle Unlimited for a free month trial, I honestly do not remember agreeing to this but I may have. Anyway just checking my Amazon account I will be paying $12-99 AUD a month for the Kindle Unlimited Subscription starting in the next two days and I would normally cancel it but in all honesty the amount I will save on buying books (I have already saved at least $250 to $300 on the Empire of Bones Saga alone if I'd bought all 10 in Australia) its probably well worth my while keeping it. I just got another 6 book saga for free (borrowed that is) that would have cost me $180 AUD to buy the paperbacks here so I guess I'll keep paying it unless I stop reading the amount I currently do.

Green Rider First Rider's Call The High King's Tomb Blackveil Mirror Sight Firebrand Winterlight is the next. I'm chomping at the bits to know what happen next because so many things happened in Firebrand. Shucks I can't spoil it here.
