They certainly did something wrong..for you, and many others. It doesn't mean it's the first game in history we're a part of the fanbase didn't like the romance choices they had. There were many, many straight men disappointed with the choices of DA2 in Isabela and Merril, for similar reason as you posted. Yet you were fine with those. My point is that, as you said yourself, you didn't disliked both choices for their appearance. One was for had personality. Which might well happen in the next game as well, if both of all the romance choices you'll have are attractive but with personalies you won't like. That point is separate from the one about appearance. I never said I was fine with DA2 choices. I simply never played DA2 (as my list under profile indicates) so I'm not commenting on it. The thing with DA:I is that when you only give two options, making one very unconventional looking (manly jaw and short hair) and the second bland Disney-like personality is very bold and plainly bad move because it alienates a lot of people upfront. The chance of people liking such characters is very small, so why take the risk? I didn't claim that it was due to SJW or some agenda yet, because one game isn't enough to claim that, but I definitely consider it a possibility due to BW's actions and certain tendencies. And the point with Josephine is that if you go for a risky personality, the person should be made very attractive to balance out. It's a simple math - "well, she's very hot and her personality isn't ABSOLUTELY terrible, so I might as well go for her", as opposed to "well, she's barely attractive and her personality is bland, meh". Fair point. What I meant is that it already happened, and not onto for straight men. Bioware sometimes with their romance choices 'screwed' or disappointed a part of the fanbase (ME3, straight women). I just don't think it's an overall design. They don't design characters that way though, as well i don't think they wanted to make Josephine bland, or think she necessarily is. But they don't increase or decrease the attractiveness of a character, or her personality, based on the other factor. A characters can be well or badly written regardless of how diverse it is from a stereotype (which Bioware used and use often). Speaking as a general rule, expecially for Mass Effect were we got our share of alien characters, making characters 'diverse' helps making them not feel boring or repetitive. As for appearance, I think DAI was in general a try to make characters look different in general. As it was already stated, we got not conventionally attractive characters like Bull, Solas, Blackwall,Cole. Dorian was an hit and a miss as well. DA:I definitely went wrong when it comes to character design overall, but I will still hold my stance that straight males and lesbians received the worst treatment. Cullen is definitely great for straight females and I'm not sure about Dorian, but I can't imagine people being overly critical over him. Apparance wise, definitely. For his personality and romance, I think he was enough popular, but he did receive his fair share of criticism, though at least part was for his backstory. Dorian was criticized by some (don't know how split the situation was) for both appearance and romance content/personality. This is linked a a bit with Sera. Some like that Dorian's quest was centered a bit on his orientation and the problems with his father with it, others preferred Sera's approach of not being relevant to her character and quest. Which lead some people wishing that Dorian follows Sera's approach or the opposite, with following criticism.

So, it would seem that luzarius is upset at his views being 'censored': I didn't realise that the memes and mockery were a deliberate liberal tactic? Personally, I'm struggling to avoid posting a tiny violin gif (oh, ok then) But besides that, thread's open, please continue luzarius and others with incisive discussion... I can't wait...

And it is not censored, because that would mean that this thread would be GONE and not just locked. And I will now make use of my "right" to not be censored and say: luzarius you are an idiot and I hope you understand that.

Yeah, except it's more the animations that make them ugly. For the record I think both Sera and Cassandra are hot in DA:I so I don't consider Inquisition to have ugly characters. Well, I realize this is highly subjective, but I wouldn't consider either remotely hot...and along with Dorian those were my favorite characters. I romanced the hell out of Sera and Cassandra, but not because of hotness, but because they were funny, quirky, and interesting. I have no idea if it's a SJW thing or their artists have atypical tastes, but I was definitely not impressed by their physical appeal. It's pretty sad (for us straight traditional taste guys) when the hottest romancable character is the "gay guy." And before people scream about it would just be pander to have a Triss Merigold or Yennifer...it's all frigging pandering...be it the hot chick, gay, lesbian, or trans character. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. Personally, I think the romance aspects of the game have a bit too much emphasis, but if you're going to do it, it just logical to have those characters appeal to the broadest audience.

Here's the thing: Brenavu, if you want to actually discuss the topic, you're welcome to. I read the entire thread and you've posted only a few times. You never bothered to even talk to the people that agree with you. With the OP not participating in the thread and the general shit talking, Sofa decided to lock it.
If you were being censored, we would have found a bullshit reason to ban you and would have moved the thread into the Quarantine section. That's not how we roll. If you actually want to talk to the other posters and not just put up pictures, then please do so. Otherwise, complaining on twitter only makes you look like a fool and gives us more traffic to our site.

Well, from what I caught up on the Bio games so far, my personal tastes run:
Josephine: plain, but very aristocratic looking Cassandra: OMG, really, really beautiful, I'd sell my soul to look like her! Sera: Cute, not my thing Ashley in ME3 - very attractive, save for the pink lip gloss (I don't like pink). Morrigan in ME1: Nice face, but her teeth bother me, because they look very dark compared to her carefully brushed up, luminous face. Love the eyes though.
In what I saw so far from ME:A:
Sara: Nose too big, bags below the eyes too dark, coloring is mousy, bit nice hair. The young black lady in the trailer Sara negotiates with: very cute Two other females in the who is who thread: shots taken from an angle that artificially flattens their faces, but one has cool eye-color. I have an inkling in the normal projection they have stock faces that are fine Aliens (two asari and a turian): artwork looks great, very "alive" and Vetra has the awesome facial structure that somehow manages to convey that she is feminine. Pee Bee looks like a cute girlish rogue in the same mold as Vette.
In conclusion, I don't see ugly women, save for poor plain Josephine, but she makes up for it with her noblewoman's air.

As a straight guy, I must tell, I find Josephine very beautiful, and traditionally attractive. I have no idea how some could state the opposite. I think we can be a little objective even if we have our own tastes. The only issue to me with Josephine is that her dysney romance might be judged boring and might not appeal to a lot of guys. I'd also bet that if we changed her ugly outfit, for something a bit classy and sexier, it would also help.
If Josephine is not judged traditionally attractive, then I can only think that some guys have some standards a bit unbelievable in this case. I'm wondering what kind of hot women they see around them in the streets to be that exigent.
Yennefer doesn't affect me really much but I'm very able to see that she is very traditionally attractive and able to appeal to a lot of guys despite my own indifference.
i'm wondering if people are able to recognize that kind of thing, in spite of their tastes and without being themself attracted.

I just put up a rather angry post (with swear words and everything, oh my! ) in the other SJW thread and needed a laugh. But seriously, complaining about being 'censored' in a thread you made but barely bothered to contribute to? And then trying to play it up as some sort of conspiracy? See, this is why no one actually took gamer-gate seriously. Anyway, um, back on topic. Because apparently this is still a topic we need? I still say all the female characters look fine. And Sara's face has actually really grown on me the more I've looked at it. Sure, she's no great beauty, but she's cute and her features give her a lot of personality, and it suits her voice really well.

As a straight guy, I must tell, I find Josephine very beautiful, and traditionally attractive. I have no idea how some could state the opposite. Simply, she does not have regular features, her nose is bulbous, rather than straight and thin. Here eyes also appear to be set too deep and brow ridge is too low. Her nose does look "aristocratic" in a Roman way. However, the faces we see now in the magazines and on TV that are considered beautiful, are not of that specific type. They are less strongly featured, with more elongated lines, thin noses, no pronounced shapes, large eyes easily visible with the high brow ridges - in other words we can easily see the symmetry of it. Josephine's face is expressive, noble and interesting, but does not fit what we keep seeing right now. In my youth, I would not have minded looking like her, because I would judge it sophisticated and elevated. Now, I'd be more interested in looking like Cassandra.

Plenty of very attractive women walking round the streets of London town.

I'm addicted to the Morrigan Formula from Dragon Age Origins. Morrigan is: - beautiful
- ruthless
- sexy
- romance option
- smart
Bioware got me hooked on this formula. In every Bioware game, I look for this formula. Will Mass Effect Andromeda have this formula?I'm expecting Andromeda to also have: Everything I'm asking for has been in Mass Effect games. I'm not asking for anything NEW. I'm not asking for special privileges. I just want more of the same great stuff that made the first three games great. Unfortunately Bioware removed the brothel from the Dragon Age series in Inquisition and uglified all the women except Leliana & Morrigan. I'm hoping this doesn't happen to Mass Effect Andromeda.
