SAM is apparently in the Pathfinder's Cabin (1:28), didn't notice it cuz we didn't know how SAM looks before the 4th briefing (Pathfinder & Team). This is merely a hologram, wouldn't be surprised if it appears across entire ship. ^^^ SAM probably has terminals all over Tempest much like EDI had on the Normandy so he can communicate crew.

SAM: Ryder, Would you like to enable personality mode? Sara: This isn't a good idea. Scott: Cool, Go ahead SAM. SAM: Scanning Database. Processing... SAM: Sara, Why so Serious. Sara: Okay thats just creepy. Pick something else. Scott: To be honest I'm more intrested in how he manages what he does. SAM: Pay no attension to that man behind the curtain. Sara: Seriously can we get back to work. Lets get moving back down the road towards our goal! *shes sighs* SAM: Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads. Sara: Seriously SAM! Surely we should get back to work? *Scott is laughing* SAM: I am serious. And don't call me ShirleySara: Okay I'm Done! *starts to walk away* SAM: I hate to see you go, I love to watch you leave. Sara: SAM!!!! *Scott is nearly crying with laughter* Shut Up! SAM: I'm sorry Sara, I'm afraid I can't do that. *Sara walks away furious* Sorry for the above, I may have got carried away I would imagine he has terminals all over the Tempest like EDI as Vall has said above, personally I hope he doesn't get a body, or if he does that it's purely for say interacting with the Nexus or something. Mind you the banter could be good. Imagine if Ryder feels awe at seeing the sun rise on a new world and SAM is there, he could question the emotions he's feeling due to their connection. Goddammit, why do I always get cool sounding ideas when I'm typing

Seriously though, I hope he's different enough concept of an AI than EDI. I don't mind Pinocchio story archetype for an AI, but the same franchise should not do it twice...

Well to be fair, they kinda did made sexy bodies for geth who are typically viewed as males by most people. But yeah, no need to repeat same story. Keep SAM as an A.I., it's own unique kind. Not trying to be human, but something else. Then again, we are speculating on almost no information on SAM. So we should be wary of having false expectations. Still, I want an A.I. squadmate.

Please keep SAM purely as an AI. Giving EDI a platform made for one of the lamest squaddies ever Maybe character wise, which I can see your point, but she was one of the best and most powerful squadmates in ME3. She was surprising hard to kill, despite low health, while her powers were super powerful and can be combined with most of Shepard's or other squadmates powers.

All I'm saying is, EDI was one of the most fun squadmates to bring to missions.

Her Defense Matrix was OP let's be honest, as other shields and Barries on companions. When u had Liara without one she was dropping like a fly every 30 seconds. For balance sake, they probably should tone it down in Andromeda, or we'll end up again with some companions vastly better than others

SAM info from the gameinformer article SAM (Simulated Adaptive Matrix) is the Andromeda-equivalent of EDI. He’s an A.I. that eventually bonds with your brain and becomes a part of you. When he isn’t functioning as your HUD or informing you about your environment, you can have philosophical discussions with him about existence.

EDI's conversations in ME3 were some of the most interesting discussions you could have. Hopefully SAM will be even better, especially if they ramp up the philosophy.

Not sure does it qualifies as spoiler, but better safe then sorry:
@fictionalskill's question:
@macwalterslives The lore of ME was largely why I love the games, is it acknowledged in game that SAM should have been illegal? @macwalterslives Or you know otherwise mentioned that an exception to the law was made, or whatever explanation so long as it's mentioned.
@macwalterslives answers: @fictionalskill There's a an entire story/plot/quest that deals with this very thing. As well as related codex entries.

I would imagine the case was "screw the rules we're going to Andromeda". Or "no, really, it's totally a VI guys. Why does it keep singing 'there are no strings on me'? uhm... it's a bug?"

System Alliance is notorious with doing illegal A.I. research. And who's to say other governments don't do it, but instead offshore it to places like Noveria for not being part of Citadel space.

I'm not sure about my feelings on "S.A.M." and what its influence on the Pathfinder could be. Having a direct neural link to the Pathfinder's brain seems dangerous, especially since AI have been hacked in the past (EDI in ME2). Not only that, but I also have reservations about its creator: Alec Ryder. If for whatever reason Alec were to go rogue, he would be able to influence, and perhaps even control to an extent, the types of information being relayed to the entire Pathfinder team. Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

This is actually one of the reasons that I'm so excited for S.A.M.; there are a lot of different possible ways that Bioware could use him to create interesting and engaging conflicts and stories.

Especially if SAM is unshackled so it can make self-improvement whenever it sees fit, I think we are all doomed... The last thing I need is a rogue AI in my head reprogramming me to make me a "better" human.
