I hope there is a way we can shut off SAM. Ian S. Frazier @tibermoonTo those who've asked: SAM is a bit more talkative than usual in this mission, because we introduce some new mechanics here & must explain. What I assumed to be the case. Likely they reused dialogue assets from tutorial section earlier in game.

I thought SAM sounded too modulated in the P.B. mission.
I mean they're obviously going for the discount JARVIS sound, but I think it would sound nicer if it was cleaner.
Also here's hoping it has more of a personality in the full game. What we heard might as well have been a VI. I half expected it to say "Aesthetically pleasing view ahead, organics may wish to take note".

I liked his voice, just not the constant nattering in me ear.
He sounds like Julian Clary to me.

I'm actually liking the direction SAM is going. I felt EDI was way too human, especially in ME3. SAM seems entirely different from that and really comes across as a guide or a helpful aid.

I hope there is a way we can shut off SAM. Well, it would make romance scenes a LOT more awkward if you can't.... "A little more to the left...further, yeah that's where he likes it!"

Yep it does what it's programmed to do and doesn't think about having a soul or being more alive when it knows it is a machine and is aware of its programming. Much better than EDI's dialogue in that regard. That's cringe dialogue I won't miss.

Supposedly some of that philosophical dialogue about what it means to exist will still be with SAM, but I'd just like to downplay the whole "becoming a human" approach. We've seen that before and I'd really like to see BioWare do something different. I think his voice is fine though, as he sounds like a machine.

Yea I'd rather they take the approach of having to deal with the conflict of integrating ai chips in our heads rather than trying to treat sam as an organic being.

I'm still not okay with the idea of an artificial intelligence having influence over our minds. At the very least, that's an interesting discussion to have and could lead to some very unique storytelling possibilities.

I like that we are getting a male voice for the AI/VI role that typically gets filled with a female voice (EDI, Avina, etc.), but I am a bit disappointed that the male voice we get sounds much more modulated than the female voices we've had in the past.
As for the personality, I agree to a lesser extent. I want more personality, but I don't think it needs to be much more. I'm fine with S.A.M. being somewhere between typical VI and EDI on the personality scale.

Shepard could get mad at EDI but he/she could never turn her off. I dont hate SAM but for roleplaying purposes maybe there could be options to shut him off or be angry/cautious about him because of him being an AI. Also shutting him off if any sexytimes go down in the Tempest captains cabin, I dont want him watching the squishy organics

Yes, SAM is going to be involved in all of your "intimate" dealings. I hope you enjoy giving SAM a front seat to the action.

Maybe it's too early to judge simply based on a few lines, but Sam's VO sounds very bland and generic. People would probably complain that it's too similar to EDI, but if they had Natalie Dormer voice the AI instead of a side character, that would be amazing. Wouldn't mind hearing her voice in my head throughout the entire game, not one bit.

It just dawned on me. SAM, a computer in our brains feeds us information and gives us abilities far beyond what we'd normally have? It took them awhile but we finally got Chuck in space

If S.A.M got a body I it wouldn't be because he wanted to be human but because he wanted or needed to protect Ryder out in the field.
