Metal Gear Solid series

I like the ones I've played so far, but I wouldn't consider myself a huge fan.

Splinter Cell >>>>>>>>> MGS when it comes to tactical espionage action.

The music for this series is indeed amazing and Hollywood blockbuster level. Fitting, given Harry Gregson-Williams has been the composer since MGS2.

To me, the biggest creative fuck/torch & burn up on a videogame series' epilogue since Mass Effect 3. Though after some time to reflect, it's not so bad. It really ruins Metal Gear 1 and 2 though. I wanted a goddamned explanation about the transition from Big Boss the legend to Big Boss the warlord. Not only that but the build up and story (like ME3) was perfectly written for them, all they had to do was execute it as a revenge story and explain how Kaz Miller became McDonal Miller. We just see these jamokes act pissy while wasting their time with the most irrelevant guy in MG history while also greying the Patriots AI plotline. END SPOILERS


So yes, despite my grievings with Phantom Game Pain, I'll still say I liked it overall but Kojima's departure may have severely impacted my involvement in Metal Gear. Unless a Solidus game can be made!

Solidus Snake (second favorite Snake behind Bic Baws)
Revolver Ocelot (MGS1,2,4)

I also liked MGSV Miller, Raiden (post Arsenal Gear) and Liquid. Skull Face was okay for how ruthless he was.

I'm a huge fan of MGS (to the point that i'll say I enjoy MGS more than any other stealth game) but this is objectively true. If you haven't played many other stealth games outside of MGS, you're doing yourself a disservice. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and Thief 2 are pretty much the best pure stealth games out there, plus Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory has an excellent co-op mode. 

I maybe one of the few wierdos who don't list MGS2 as their least favorite game of the series. So this is actually one of my favorite tracks:

Way To Fall was a great song as well. It really helped drive that feeling of remorse after beating MGS3. Which, imo is the best MG/S game of all. So many fun moments like taking out the Ocelot unit before facing The End and the battle with The F RY.

Huge Metal Gear fan, and I actually love MGSV. I'll explain why, and it's very selfish.

I get why people don't. I respect their reasons. That said, I really do like it. It's not blind Kojima faith, because there's plenty of issues I have with stuff he's done, in V and in the past. V has flaws, the focus on cinematic scenes and open-world means less overall story (well, same amount of scenes, spread over much more game). Look at how few cuts some of the scenes have, it makes things awkward. V's also lacking in terms of wrapping up one major story arc, but I don't think the ending ruins too much.
