If I start a new character on insanity and I don't find one, I usually "farm" the bugs on Eos so that I can use one at the second monolith. I find that fight particularly hard on Insnanity at that low level)... but that's the only one I find it hard to pay for. If I'm really lucky and get an early one in a drop or crate, it makes me very happy. After setting up Eos, I usually acquire quite a few by investing a cryo pod point in the military one that gives you consumables as regular intervals, so I don't hesitate to use them during many of the bigger fights.
Doesn't Clancy the salvager you find when you connect the power sell them when you first start?
I think he has one to sel yes but usually I don't have enough credits at that point given I start from scratch if I had been using Nwe game plus you can probably take advantage of that. Usually I just buy whatever weapons or ammo consumables he has to make the vault bit or whatever easier and leave it at that because in truth that's all I need at that point.

Yes, he has them. Fortunate too, because he's the only merchant accessible to Ryder at that stage of the game. He goes into hiding until after you meet PeeBee. Once you've met her though at monolith one, he's standing in his usual spot in front of his shuttle. Sometimes it does take a wee bit of reloading for a cobra to appear in his inventory. The biggest hassle at that stage of the game is getting enough stuff to sell to him to play the 2,400 credits each cobra costs; but it can be done by killing all the bugs you can on the plateau above Promise and then returning to decon and sell the soft chitin and shell fragments they drop, rinse and repeat till you have 2,400 credits... and you've got yourself an early cobra.

Yeah well I don't us emods on MEA as I haven' tbeen able t oge tthem t owork properly and I ten dt ostart from scratch rather than New Game Plus. I know I can d othings like tha tit's jus tmoer m ygeneral preference to pla ythe game that way. Bu tI d oermembe rin one of m yplaythrough I think I only ended up getting 1 and I think I ended up saving it fo rthe Progenitor in the Remnant Tiller as I always use one against that. If I manage t ofind or buy moer then yeah I d oallow myself t ous ethem on the fiends and Ascendants
If you decide you want to try using MODS again let me know, The Frosty Mod Manager is pretty straight forward.
I don' ttend to use mods with MEA as it tends to make my game unstable. I have tried using them though but I can' ttell if it's the game or my PC or what. I'll probably try again when I get a new one.

On a NG+ start, I usually have at least one in my inventory from the previous playthrough and that fight isn't tough at all once the character has some powers and better than Level 1 weapons. I just use the ocbra there when I'm doing a brand new start on insanity. That fight can be a bit of tough go early on since Ryder is pretty fragile and doesn't have enough powers to make up decent combos. The first time I tried a fresh start on insanity, I must have died about 15 times to those observers before I got desperate enough to think of a way to obtain that early cobra.

I've found them quite stable and good. Recommended to try them, really easy to apply with FMM as dazk said.

What weapons do you use in the SP? I gave up ages ago using anything other than the Valkyrie with autofire and 3 KC's.

Is the chicken supposed to be Garrus!!! Seriously what is the chicken a reference too or is a Minecaraft joke that I don't get having never played it?
Initially, when this Mass-Up Pack released on the Xbox 360 edition, the animals in Minecraft were not reskinned the way all the various blocks had been... so, typical of the internet, the fans complained about the regular looking animals being on "Mars." So, 4J Studios then reskinned all the animals in the game to look like more "space-like." I don't think the chicken is really meant to represent Garrus since there was a Garrus skin provided with the pack.
You could play with just the texture pack in a self-created Minecraft world or you can play in the world provided with the mash-up pack where 4J Studios had, typically, reconstructed a few buildings from the game. In the case of the Mass Effect Mash-Up, 4J essentially rebuilt the Mars level from Mass Effect 3 and you spawn in next to where Shepard's shuttle first lands. What I really liked about the Mass Effect Mash-Up pack was that when you played with Mass Effect textures, the musci you heard in game was a compilation from ME3 rather than the standard Minecraft music.
Since this was the first Mash-Up pack 4J created, it is the least polished. They got much better at it... the Fallout 4 one is really quite impressive... where they reacreated Vault 111, Diamond City, the USS Constitution and other areas of the map all within the Xbox 360 Minecraft world (which was only about 860 blocks by 860 blocks). You can even find a dog at the Red Rocket. (Dogs in Minecraft are wolves that you tame by feeding them bones. They normally spawn randomly in forest biomes, but in the FO4 world, they've put one into a small pen just outside their reconstruction of the Red Rocket and there is a chest with bones in it placed nearby.
That pack has been around for years, so why are they acting like it’s new?
Yeah, I don't know what's with the new videos on the Minecraft MashUp pack. I've been snooping around and there is more than one that is dated this week. A re-release?... but I would have thought they would have upgraded it a little more. It was 4J Studios' first attempt at a Mash Up. It was done in a lower resolution than the others and, as I mentioned in my post above, the animals originally were not reskinned... and a lot of different functionality has been added to Minecraft since the Mass Effect Mashup first released years ago.

Thanks @upagain The Garrus thing was meant to be a bad joke, re the whole "Bird" slur in the games.

I read somewhere it was to celebrate a re-release 7 years after the original release.

Awe, I was hoping for a remake... featuring moar new buildings and redoing some of the blocks they messed up the first time... like using "end" stone for the red blocks the base sits on... they should have used "red sand" instead... and on and on (too soon?)
