BioWare @bioware Today we celebrate 3 years of exploring the galaxy with great friends. Happy Birthday, Mass Effect: Andromeda!
Indeed happy birthday to MEA, my most played and definitely one of my favourite games ME3 probably just edges it out and for being one of my most played games.

Can't believe 3 years have passed. Anyway, happy birthday to this great game. Despite it's flaws(although for me it doesn't have many) it has been one of my most enjoyable moments i had in a videogame. I still want to see a continuation and i hope bioware considers that.
I REALLY hope they make a sequel because I enjoyed MEA but also because I need answers to so many things.

I mean if you look at the Twitter comments at least some love is given though there are many who still think it caused Mass Effect's death.
OIndeed for me it breathed nwe life int oit rather than killed it and gave it a chance to grow as a franchise. Rather than it jus tbeing about Shepard versus the reapers.

Indeed I've played quite a fwe games that I would classify far worse than MEA. Whilst it's not my favoyrite game I hav eI'd still say it's close to being one of my favourites.

BioWare @bioware The infinite possibilities of space have always been inspiring to us. Sit back and think of the cosmos with our next song in the Mass Effect music series. #MassRelays
Always sad when I didn’t kill Wrex and then have to kill mordin and then kill Wrex later on.
The only time I didn't have Wrex in ME3 was in a non-import game. Maybe I can forego recruiting him in ME1 in order to not have him in 2/3. Or I could try to kill him on Virmire.....

About 1/2 my me1 playthroughs I kill him. More often now than when I first played. I started to really hate red/blue=win so I now always pick the lines I like which has some unfortunate results.

Unless I'mplayin grenegade I don' ttend to kill him. Mos tof my Shep's tend t ocuer the genophage.
I have never cured the genophage. If it wasn’t so moralistically pushed from the writers I may have a couple times. I think it’s the wrong choice logically but the preachy bull shit pushed by them on multiple choices in ME3 made me go the opposite way out of spite.
Genophage, geth, end decision and I think a few more that I just don’t remember. I actively choose the opposite of what the designers are pushing.

It's still funny that people actually believed that ME: A killed the franchise.
It didn't do it any favors. It undersold, whether that was enough to kill the franchise or not I guess we will see in the coming years.
Have we ever seen stats to say it undersold? I thought EA's financial reports (can't remember the exact words) said that it made money?
I think it was more a victim of being released in a poor state because it was rushed due to poor project planning and leadership and at the end staff being diverted to Anthem and people expecting it to be ME4 not a game with a new direction. I think a lot of people that trashed it never played it long enough to appreciate it either. Most were happy to get to The Nexus and then trash it. Anyway that's just my opinion.
It'd be great to see hard sales figures for MEA though, this was the most specific I could find:
"Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter estimated that Mass Effect: Andromeda sold at least 2.5 million units in its opening quarter, resulting in $110 million in revenue." That was below the estimated 5 million sales but I am guessing it at least broke even.
On the positive side there are articles like this:

making a profit can still be underselling. I can put money in my savings account and earn a couple bucks a year in interest, I made a profit. But virtually any other choice of where to put my money investment wise would be a better choice in most circumstances. I'd of under performed in my investments if I put it all in my savings account. The profit they made was low enough they cut clearly planned DLC and shut down a studio. They under performed. They wont ever tell us their numbers, but we can look at their actions. And their actions show that it didn't do well enough to keep planned DLC, keep the studio open, or immediately announce plans for a sequel. The game can be objectively and subjectivity fantastic, but if it doesn't sell as well as expected there are consequences to that.
Yeah, especially considering all that was happening like Montreal becoming EA Motive, and Edmonton and Austin too busy with other projects. I mean, if no DLC is a sign of failure I guess Star Wars: Fallen Order was a failure despite all the sales and praise it got.
Or maybe EA wanted to see how well a Mass Effect game would do without having Shepard and the Milky Way in the game.
