As the "new" pathfinder ... maybe RyDad was on the Nexus ... so when the Hyperion got Lost in SpaceTM, lacking a pathfinder, Ryder-progeny had to fill the role. So RyDad is not RyDead ... just RyLost, WRT the Hyperion. Now, why the Wonder TwinsTM would be chosen over any other Hyperion sleepers ... hope there is a good back story for that. The orientation briefing specifically states that each ARK is assigned a Pathfinder. Alec Ryder was selected as the Pathfinder for Hyperion, humanity's ARK so it wouldn't make sense if he left ahead of the ARK with Jien Garson aboard the Nexus. As far as I can remember, it has been said by the team that the Hyperion arrives at the wrong location in the Andromeda galaxy which is why it is lost and separated from the others.
I think Ryder only gets elevated to Pathfinder for Hyperion because Alec Ryder becomes MIA or KIA and the chain of command aboard the Hyperion suffers casualties. I think it was stated in the gameinformer.

I think it was stated in the gameinformer. I'm looking at my issue now, and the quote is: 'When the human ark Hyperion arrives in the Heleus cluster after a 600-year-flight, the situation is not as expected. Instead of the ark's assigned golden world (designated "Habitat 7") being a verdant paradise full of possibility, it is surrounded by a dangerous energy cloud and its atmosphere is volatile.' So, it sounds like they did end up in the right place, but the planet wasn't as they expected it? That actually jives pretty well with the idea, from the 'golden worlds' thread, that because their sensors are limited to lightspeed, all the information they could gather about Andromeda before leaving is about 2.5 million years out of date. (Which, to be fair, is actually a pretty short amount of time in astronomical terms; it's perfectly fair for them to expect a planet that was habitable 2.5 million years ago to still be habitable now.)

Yes. They either got unlucky and the planet passed for a global wide extinction level event or their readings about the planet were wrong.

Also this: At least Hyperion is smaller than Citadel because it would be weird. That does not seem to be an official source though.

Lol, I'm sorry someone posted it on Mass Effect group on facebook and I thought it's legit I will look for it. EDIT: Yup it's still there, I just asked for source of this EDIT2: Anyway, it has to be fan made because it wouldn't make sense to add Crucible there jeffmcdowalldesign.deviantart.com/art/Mass-Effect-Andromeda-Starship-Size-Comparison-645355077 <----- source, yup it was fan made. Tho it says that: "Sizes are approximations based on Troodon80's ME Reference, "Andromeda Orientation Briefing", and "Join the Andromeda Initiative" promo videos."

The Citadel is far more massive than we really got to see. So it makes since it'd be smaller. Fan made, but probably not toooooo far off. Nexus will be gigantic tho.

So not official but somewhat accurated....interesting. The Destiny Ascension had a crew of 10.000 asari. Considering people inside the Ark are on cryosleep pods during the journey their population is probably bigger. ps: Nexus seems like a lying down H...

I forget where, but somewhere, read that the sleepers totaled 100,000 ... the question was, did that mean per Ark or total across all Arks, plus Nexus?
If the Arks are mostly sleeper ships ... 100K per ship might be reasonable ... you wake folks up once they have a planet to go to, not before.
The Nexus would be not just the command ship, but also where lots of equipment was stored, repair facilities housed.
The Nexus (regardless of the accuracy of the fan creation) is one big ass ship, so if it's not a people mover, they're moving something a long way.

Part of me thinks that since the long term goal of the Initiative is to connect Andromeda to the Milky Way, the Nexus may be the Andromeda half of a Mass Relay pair as well as a center of government. Like how the Citadel connects to Dark Space. They built it here so they could have it connected to the eventual one they will build in the Milky Way, probably planned during the six centuries the trip will take. Unfortunately, the Reaper War broke out and thosr plans were either completely stopped or put on hold as the galaxy was wiped out or focused on galactic reconstruction.

About the "Now I know what makes you special" comment.
The Kett doesn't know, obviously, that Alec is the father. Or rather, he's just found that info out when he makes that statement. And I think that Alec has been causing them problems for some time. This lends itself to him not being on the Hyperion when it first arrives and is lost.
EDIT : Oh and, about the Nexus. Whomever is controlling the expedition didn't wanna put all of their eggs in one basket. In other words, load up all of the turians in this ship... If it gets lost... Whoops, we have no turians in Andromeda! So they created a Nexus ship which acts as a control platform and as a secondary personnel carrier, in case the first one got lost/destroyed.

Unfortunately, the Reaper War broke out and thosr plans were either completely stopped or put on hold as the galaxy was wiped out or focused on galactic reconstruction. Agree.
Spitballing in another thread, I thought that made sense. But as a partially constructed mass relay, it could also house a boatload of gear ... the modular structures for settlements, ships like the Tempest, vehicles like the Nomad, repair facilities.
So it is a command and control structure, a future mass relay, plus a ginormousTM warehouse for all the stuff they brought from the MWG, to help them explore and settle parts of the Andromeda galaxy.
We will probably find out more about Nexus in the "training" briefing on it and the Hyperion ... as soon as Jien Garson gets off her sleek ass and drops the video on us. Maybe confirm some of the spitballing or probably create new questions for us to carry on about. Which is part of what makes this fun.
Guessing the funky symbols under our avatars are some of Yummy's ... working as intended?

Mass Effect @masseffect The best part about finding alien technologies? Pushing buttons until something happens. A few random thoughts ...
With Ryder's broken faceplate, obviously the atmosphere is safe to breathe, so maybe all the heavy breathing WRT the Hamburgler's attire is ... a bit too much huffing and puffing?
The Khet's comment (assuming it is a Khet) about humans being special ... I heard "special" in scare quotes, as in the Khet is being sarcastic and dismissive, so it is less about humans being special than the Khet being contemptuous of the interlopers.
The visual that implied, "no, no, don't push that button" ... just made me laugh.
Really hope that there is a squadmate named Justin, Justine, Jenny, John ... anything with a J ... so that when Ryder goes out exploring, the team can consist of PB & J. That will become my default exploration team. I thought I had thoughts on just one of these, but it turns out I have several thoughts. It's not just the issue of, "Can PB breathe the atmosphere?" That outfit isn't even suitable for most serious situations out and about on Earth. She supposedly left either "Ark Asari" or Nexus, struck out on her own, and is wearing that? Add to this the nonsensical outfits of ME2/3, you can understand the concerns of some. As long as she can be put into a proper adventuring getup after joining the crew, her casual outfit won't be a major concern. I also have this mild dread that they've nicknamed her "PeeBee" because "PB", as in "PB&J"; because she and Ryder go together just that well. I'm sure it's nothing, but I've experienced forced Asari matchmaking before. I think the Kett's comment is about Ryder specifically, but we shall see. It may tie in with Ryder's being chosen as Pathfinder when Alec is lost. Why anoint the child when the father is lost? Could there be a genetic/biological reason? The GI article says there is a narrative reason that explains the extreme flexibility in character builds. As Pathfinder, we are able to completely retrain our skills between missions, according to Fabrice Condominas, playing one mission as an Infiltrator, and the next as a Sentinel. Maybe only Ryder could be the next Pathfinder. I think that's it. I gotta run. I don't even have time to edit, so I'm sure autocorrect has butchered this post.

Admiral Anderson @ieat_JEDifor those that may not like to gather materials and craft, is there still ways to obtain relevant gear? Mac Walters @macwalterslives You will have options. We want you to play Andromeda how you want. Freedom is a big part of the experience. ,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸-(_MEA_)-,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸
Now Mac's answer is very interesting. Depends on the options, but interesting nevertheless.
So, is tackling those big Remnant space Vaults the answer?

Is it Khet or Kett? I keep seeing it both ways. Game Informer says "Kett". They got their info directly from BioWare last month. "Khet" is from the long out of date leak, though I do think it's a cooler spelling.

Is it Khet or Kett? I keep seeing it both ways. I think it's Kett but I've been calling it Khet and Khett for so long, that it's become a habit and I honestly think it looks better. Kett keep reminding me of Kettle.

Really hope that there is a squadmate named Justin, Justine, Jenny, John ... anything with a J ... so that when Ryder goes out exploring, the team can consist of PB & J. That will become my default exploration team. ,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸-(_MEA_)-,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸
Like it.
I would have given you a like, but recently, I'm getting frequent errors or page not found or slow downs. The Pro-Board servers may be overwhelmed.
