Well, first of all we are not limited to 3 active abilities mid combat! YAY! Now, how will it work out? I guess now PC users will have to get used to pressing 2 keys in quick succession to fluently access all 12 abilities. It is a step back from Shepard's trilogy, but I'm a former Masters Protoss Starcraft 2 player so I will get used to it. Kinda bewildering because the system in ME2 and ME3 wasn't broken, it worked just fine. Maybe its because of the "profile" thingy. We did know that for a few days now This tweet came out 9 hours ago I think? It wasn't clear in the beginning if we only can switch between encounters or mid encounters too before that.

We did know that for a few days now This tweet came out 9 hours ago I think? It wasn't clear in the beginning if we only can switch between encounters or mid encounters too before that. No, Mike Gamble confirmed it before, I think the day after the gameplay trailer on twitter. Not everyone read it or people continue to speculate the opposite, so Ian restated it.

It seems that she likely doesn't properly understand the concept of Favorites, if she thinks this sounds clunky. This sounds very smooth. On the surface it sounds pretty good, but I really want to see it in action. Especially Fransitioning from one favorite to another in the middle of a hectic fight. - What kind of delay can we expect switching between Favorites? - Is stringing together a chain of abilities from different Favorites a viable tactic? Especially given they're all on their own individual cooldowns. - Can I just string together a chain of 12 different special abilities in a row? Think of all the self-combos! This sounds like way too much power and versatility, to me. We'll see very soon, I hope! On the surface it sounds pretty good, but I really want to see it in action. If the previous power wheel is just replaced by the favorites wheel, then I can certainly live with that. However, if we have to go into the menu to switch, this will be come real bothersome, real fast. Edit: have we any idea when the next gameplay video is incoming? This should fiiiiiiinally answer the most ciritical questions. I doubt the intent is truly for us to be able to flow from one build to another build, in the midst of combat. Our reaction to the 3-power limit back in the December reveal likely got Favorites implemented. I believe it was introduced to provide variety in gameplay. I don't think it's supposed to be a seamless flow from one "fighting style" to another, a la Jade Empire or Kingdoms of Amalur. We'll see if I'm dead wrong, soon. I agree that menus suck, in general; but they suck a lot more in battle than they do outside of it. If my above assumption is true, we'd likely be changing Favorites more strategically, pre-combat/pre-action. You flip to your "Sneaky Infiltration" Favorite to Access Tactical Cloak and Smoke Bombs before entering the enemy compound, then switch to your "Biotic Destroyer" Favorite before a big fight inside.

Well let's not go that route. I mean Soviet scientist who managed to design rockets that got Soviets first in space was in Gulag for like nearly 20 years before he was released early after end of WW2. He didn't exactly had time to practice to grow his knowledge like German scientists did with V2 rocket program. I'm pretty sure American scientists would have figured it out, only later. Americans and Soviets both profited from research done under Hitler and both developed their programs with the help of captured German scientists. Good Lawd! I think we've got it covered. We've managed to finally mention Hitler with the above, entirely true, statement. Brilliant, driven persons are everywhere. Imaginary lines on a map have limited value. It is known. Nation states kind of suck, guys. They bicker and fight, trying to assert their sovereignty, while we could just be living, loving and discussing MEA.

Karen Bannon @_karooni Is the favourite (3 ability limit) system something only on controllers? or can we have more than 3 on PC w/ keyboard? Ian S. Frazier @tibermoon3 mapped powers, quickly switchable via Favorites, is how the game works on all platforms. But on PC you can hotkey your faves. Wait, so this means powers for the PC version will work exactly like the trilogy, where keys 1-8 represented all our powers? That would be the best! No need to change a broken system. The profile swapping is a fun addition, but sometimes I like having all the powers at the tip of my fingers. This was a problem in DAI when we were limited to 8, but Mass Effect has never had more than 8 powers/class, so that was never a problem. ewll actually you can have 12 in one go now so that does change the map a little bit plus your free to choose where those 12 come from because the class restriction's been removed.

Shiate yes. I always run out of ammo. Bio gives us a good weapon but it come with low ammo or the geniuses give us a shiate weapons with high ammo count. The god of DPS must be obeyed. Wel the Mattock is one of my fave assault rifles from the trilogy so if it does I think that's a good thing. I love the old Assault rifle with a sniper punch.

That's what DA:I sounded with all that marketing speak... until I played the game on a PC.
It wasn't because of selecting the powers that was clunky though. If it's onto about pressing a key, I don't see how it can be clunky. The problem might come if the loading of the favs is problematic, but that's a separate issue from the mechanics of picking a fav setup.

Okay, do something for me right now. Imagine that you're in the middle of a lake. Imagine you start swimming to shore. Note that for the first couple'a seconds, you aren't really moving at all, you're just a mash of flailing limbs? That's what DAI was like. For the first half second, you weren't moving at all. Then, for the rest of the second, you barely started moving at all. Then for the next second you started to pick up speed. Hence, "lake effect." Or in other words, the "amount of time it took to reach maximum speed" in DAI was too f'in long. This is one of the ways in which it can be clunky. This is all for the KB+M mind you. I understand on controllers it was great. This especially became a problem when there was something that we wanted to pick up. Run towards it. 10 yards from, 5 yards, stop, maybe 2 yards from it. Then it's a game of "how long do I have to press this button before I can move another yard." And there was tons of shit to pick up in DAI. I'm actually surprised that as many people that played it on KB+M, stuck through it.

Frazier @tibermoon i.e. Mechanically speaking, you'll find "ammo" about as often as in ME3. This is great. I feel like Ian and his team, many being fans themselves, saw a lot of the same stupid crap that we saw; and they saw a need to fix this crap. Battlefields strewn with clips and crates are definitely crap that needed fixing. It gets me so happy when devs care about their lore.

It wasn't because of selecting the powers that was clunky though. If it's onto about pressing a key, I don't see how it can be clunky. The problem might come if the loading of the favs is problematic, but that's a separate issue from the mechanics of picking a fav setup. Remember moving in DAI? Remember how it had the "lake effect"? Okay, do something for me right now. Imagine that you're in the middle of a lake. Imagine you start swimming to shore. Note that for the first couple'a seconds, you aren't really moving at all, you're just a mash of flailing limbs? That's what DAI was like. For the first half second, you weren't moving at all. Then, for the rest of the second, you barely started moving at all. Then for the next second you started to pick up speed. Hence, "lake effect." Or in other words, the "amount of time it took to reach maximum speed" in DAI was too f'in long. This is one of the ways in which it can be clunky. This is all for the KB+M mind you. I understand on controllers it was great. This especially became a problem when there was something that we wanted to pick up. Run towards it. 10 yards from, 5 yards, stop, maybe 2 yards from it. Then it's a game of "how long do I have to press this button before I can move another yard." And there was tons of shit to pick up in DAI. I'm actually surprised that as many people that played it on KB+M, stuck through it. Why do I not remember this issue in DAI?
