In my personal opinion, Bioware should never have announced another Mass Effect game almost immediately coming off the ME3 ending debacle. As much as people on twitter and on this site love to say that ME:A killed the franchise, the ME3 endings was considered to be one of the biggest controversies in gaming history. It even got a spot on some mainstream news sites! The fact that the endings are STILL hotly debated on some areas by fans and former fans of Bioware is a testament on how divisive the ME3 endings are something that ME: A couldn't match. Whether ME: A was "objectively" or subjectively a good game is up for debate but there was still animosity by the time they announced Andromeda.
Bioware should've been like Assassin's Creed and took a hiatus to let the controversy boiled over. Of course it doesn't help that Andromeda had a linty of bugs upon released and had a troubled production. However I felt that the game was just going to be looked upon negatively the moment it was announced way back in BSN Prime.

Remake.
If that happens, it would be worth buying to see what changes Bioware makes from the original. It would be interesting to read all the posts from folks when it's announced the trilogy is going to be remade.

I’d prefer Remaster. A remake risks them ruining the stuff I loved the first time.
There's a few reasons I'd prefer a remake. Possibly a controversial opinion, but IMO the gameplay in ME1 hasn't aged well, and I think it needs more than just a fresh coat of paint. If you're on PC, mods will pretty much get you to a remastered version today. But more importantly, I like to see them flesh out the game in a way they couldn't back in the day. Turn the Citadel into a proper hub, living space, incorporate some of the stuff from the Citadel DLC, and letting you get around in flying cars. Space battles? Not-boring planets to explore?

What kind of stuff from the Citadel DLC? I liked the boring planets because that's what most planets out there are.
I'm not saying they couldn't add new things that would be great. I'm just worried they will ruin more than what they improve.

I'd like we move forward with MEA2 - MET is still playable.
[ LegendCNCD / AsariLoverFI ] MEA Rules! Waiting for ME5 - Look's like sometime in 2186, everything went to hell. We got out just ahead of it! The Citadel DLC gave us a taste of what an Entertainment District would be like, a custom apartment, flying car dealerships, and other side activities. Now I just want to see the Citadel fleshed out as a proper city hub. My issue with the DLC has always been - it's great, but it's in the wrong game. For me, it's always been hard to justify why Shepard would be holding parties, decorating his apartment, and working on his Armax Arena score while Earth is literally on fire (as is the rest of the galaxy). A lot of that DLC could have been in ME1 (IMO).
And I get that the planet problem is circular - they're boring to explore because most planets are boring. But after 3 deserts in DA:I, one rock after another in ME1, and nearly every planet in ME:A being a wasteland... I'm just tired of Bio-Blah locations. Maybe it's just me. I don't mind the odd the desolate location for balance, but I'd rather explore planets with lush alien flora and fauna. Or just something really unusual (like the "exotic worlds" in No Man's Sky).
But as far as ruining more than they improve, that's always a risk. But I'd rather see them take that risk, and maybe leave the galaxy in place you can build on after ME3, than just give them a fresh coat of paint (which I can do already).
