The Geth may have set up the FTL telescope to look at viable worlds for organics in the Andromeda Galaxy if they were aware of the threat of the Reapers or they may have just been studying it anyway.
Why would they need to look for organics viable worlds? They don't need them and they don't need organics.
Legion said they could not calculate the consequences of them wiping out there creators and if the Geth were aware of the reaper threat and with Jien Garson running out of money SAM may have reached out to the Geth (the only other AI known of in the galaxy) or the Geth may have reached out to Jien or SAM to both provide funding to finish the Andromeda Initiatives build to help save the organics.
I don't think the writers ever thought of that. They didn't think of more important things that contradicted the trilogy than that. Even then, they wouldn't be the first creator race to die and it wouldn't be because of them Geth that the Quarians would die. If they could not calculate the consequences of them wiping out the Quarians, then Quarians being wiped by Reapers would have nothing to do with the Geth. So no consequences for them.
Also it seems far fetched Alec could have developed a fully functional AI by himself. So the Geth may have been involved by helping SAM directly both monetary wise and also in improving itself.
Chances are the Geth would not have approached an organic, let alone assisted them in developing an AI. The one instance we saw of a Geth in an outside environment, the Flotilla, they went amok and killed everyone. So none of that is likely, or even sensible.
When I die, I want Bioware to carry my casket, so they can let me down, one last time.

The Geth for whatever reason built an FTL telescope to look at the Andromeda Galaxy and the Andromeda Initiative acquired or were given info from it and discovered there were worlds that were viable for human habitation.
IF the Geth for whatever motivation decided that they did not want to see the organic races wiped out by the Reapers and decided to help the the Ai get there they may have used SAM as the liaison for that or they may have just done it icognito with Jien. Alec never speaks directly to the Mysterious Benefactor he only has a vid call with a constantly rotating gallery of organic talking heads. We are never given any specific example of the communications Jien had with them but when Alec speaks to the MB the person giving him the mug says "It" will be ready shortly, not they or her or him so it is speculation based on small amounts of data but there is also nothing that specifically says it wasn't the Geth either.
Why would the Geth who reached out to the Reapers not communicate with SAM if it reached out to them, SAM's existence owed itself to being created for the Ai and thus its motivation for seeing that the Ai suceed when it was running out of money could have been to contact the Geth.
Anyway this has been discussed in far more detail in the MEA MB threads if you want further justification.
It is just a thought bubble based on minor evidence and speculation but there is nothing that absolutely dismisses it as a possibility.

There is no indication of them wanting to do that, ever. The only cooperation they showed, was after Legion uploaded the code to the Geth. By that time, it would have been too late. The rest of that argument is invalidated, by not fulfilling this prerequisite.
Why would the Geth who reached out to the Reapers not communicate with SAM if it reached out to them
Why would the Geth know of SAM's existence, or would the Initiative allow SAM to do whatever he wants, especially contact other, most likely hostile AI?

Colin Campbell @ccampbellart A bit more #N7Day nostalgia. I did these sketches around the time Andromeda shipped as a tiny celebration for the team.
A lot happened since then, but I still think about how much I learned from my BioWare people daily.
God the one of Cora looks like an offspring photo of if she had a baby with Draco Malfoy.
