Mass Effect News Thread

Next novel, "Mass Effect Initiation" due 11/28/2017 but the Catherynne Valente Mass Effect novel "Lost Ark/Annihilation", doesn't have a release date yet as an Amazon search for it only shows the audiobook with a release date of 12/05/2017 and I doubt they will release two novels within a week of each other.

themikefest - That's true, she can, but she was in ME2 for a quest and she hinted at being in ME3 but never turned up. She could be in ME:A if she was alive, but its a mystery I'd love to get confirmed by someone at Bioware. What happened to her if she lived through Noveria?

samhain444 - Damn, that's quite awhile away even for Initiation, and that's the book I'm far less interested in. In fact, I'm still curious over why its in there unless its dealing with the Benefactor in some way.

It looks like Mac Walters co-wrote both books with N.K. Jemisin and Cathrynne Valente...and when I say "co-wrote" I mean to say I believe he added additional narrative to their finished product to account for the lack of SP DLC/Sequel that may have answered those questions.  I've been told that "Initiation" was supposed to be released first as the events pre-date the "Nexus Uprising", and "The Lost Ark"/"Annihilation" (I've seen both titles) by Valente was supposed to release Sept 2017.  However, after the initial line-up was set, obviously plans changed and the release schedule appears to be altered to accommodate the necessary editing.  Considering the length of time it's been taking to release these books, I'm guessing the amount of corrections wasn't planned on in the first place and you may get revelations to the Benefactor through the two books.   

I like how the book was supposed to come out in September and we haven't heard anything since... beyond "excitement" from the writer herself. I wonder though if they had to do massive rewrites because the book may have been written with dlc in mind. Since that obviously can't be done they have to do the whole ark quest themselves.😑

That's actually a pretty smart move. There's no financial downside. Either it's ignored, which is no different from not putting it on Access, or the Battlefield and FIFA people who would never buy a Bioware game and are more-or-less clueless about the uproar might end up playing it and liking it.
